    Reigen's arc is one of the best It shows even him, the only real adult in the show who people look up to and see as a model can mess up bad. He cares for mob but couldn't see mob had grown up and changed. He saw it to late and now he must accept the consequences, even if his attentions aren't cruel to mob. He can't control him anymore since he is more social and able to speak his mind. So now reigen needs to grow up and deal with his own faults before he loses mob forever. God I love how one writes characters.

      @@Babylauncher3000 he does care but got to caught up on fame. He lost sight that mob is changing and isn't the scared antisocial kid anymore, and can't trick or use fancy words. He now has to deal with his mistake and come to terms that mob is growing up and will eventually leave him. He's also scared because he's lonely, until he met mob he didn't have anyone and was a nobody. he wants to keep mob around but as you can see does a very poor job of choosing how he does that. I'm not saying he doesn't use mob for his gain, yes he does. but this arc will show how much he truly cares for mob and dealing with his past actions. building up they're relationship with one another which is huge For the ending!

      It's not all that different from some of the stuff he said in season 1. When Mob talked about trying to do more with his youth Reigen basically told him to give it up and keep working for him. When he was being recruited into the telepathy club he told him he was just being manipulated and to get rid of them. When he asked about reading the mood after his experiences with Dimple's cult Reigen just calls just him dense and says such social skill are beyond him.
      The only difference is that Reigen stopped being right. Mob has grown, and Reigen failed to see it.

      SSA BOR
      What do you mean by “involuntarily helped Mob’s confidence”? Reigen had the choice to simply dish Mob out from the very beginning, but even back when he didn’t know Mob had actual psychic powers, the very first thing Reigen did was to give Mob some advice in how he isn’t less of a person for being different. He may have taken advantage of Mob’s powers, but he has also always been there to support him, even going so far as putting himself in danger when he sees that Mob is distressed and about to face something as traumatic as murder.
      Reigen may be a opportunist, but when he helps people, it’s because he wants to help them. Even in this ep where he went to do something as slimy talk down to Mob’s private life, he immediately realized that he went too far and tried to apologize for it. He may been greedy, and got too complacent with having Mob help him out, but there have been plenty of instances were he doesn’t just give some deep life advices, but also have actively stepped up for Mob while taking the responsibility (like back in the facility, the ghost family and even here to some extent).
      A persons flaws does not erase their virtues..

But as i kept watching this episode and the next i realized that it's actually really realistic that even good people sometimes really mess up. It happens to everyone. No only did he fail to realise how much Mob has grown as a character but he also was too focused on and blinded by the recent success he has had.
    How often have some of you thought back on something you said in the heat of the moment and regretted it and feeling sorry for you having said it to?
    It's part of life and i think it really fits with the overall theme of self improvement and reflection of the Anime. Just as Mob strives to become a more complete and willful person Reigen now has to on a journey to reflect on his relationships and choices in life.

This scene was perfectly done because that's exactly what Mob felt like.

    So many other main characters would have “stood up for themselves” with some sort of display of power and or violence/the threat of violence here to assert dominance. After all, everyone knows that if mob wanted to, he could flatten Reigen in a flat millisecond. Mob is better than that though. The thought of using his powers to scare Reigen into loosening the leash probably didn’t even occur to him.

After all, he keeps coming to Reigen. Until Reigen told him my the truth... At least I'm glad that Mob/Shigeo didn't cut off his friendships and choose to keep going with Reigen's friendship, Shigeo/Mob is practically an angel to Reigen's life and I'm so thankful that the author created such a good Character, mob is such a cool and chill character 🥹😭💖🙏

    The irony of the scene is great. Reigen really thought he had control over Mob when in reality Mob knew all along and HE was the one who controlled Reigen as not only he depended on Mob but also Mob went to him with his own will. It is laughable that he believed he was controlling and deceiving Mob when it is, in a sort of way, the opposite.

  • @Mark-tq7bf
    @Mark-tq7bf 2 года назад +2

    To be honests Reigen didn't say anything false here. The times before this scene that mob didn't want to go with him were because he was either about to be used (By the telepathy club) or was falling in a trick about dates (It happened two times). After all he thought his only friends were the Body Improvement Club members and didn't know the other guys (As we see him surprised to see mob with them later). So Reigen wasn't being a bad guy to mob but he had bad timing. It still helped to Mob's development as he learned that sometimes Reigen is wrong and he doesn't have to do what he says, but that doesn't make him necessarily a bad person either. That's why he says later that he knew he always was a truly nice guy.
