Original? I mean, the very concept of character development isn’t original, I guess? The whole story is about growing up. You see the fruits of that in Mob’s fight with Toichiro. Wasn't a fan of him in the first season, but his characterization really shines here. His fallout with Mob in the second season was bang on believable and amazing. Exactly. At first we were made to think that Reigen was just a jerk and a plot point to introduce Mob's "stress levels" and the titular "100". But as the series progress, we were made to realize that the two were really close and it's just reigen getting carried away with using Mob because Mob respects him, as much as he appeared as a con artist but is actually a good guy. We get to see that he's not so much as using Mob everytime but only when spirits were involved and during the times mob doesn't have anyone to rely to or when in danger, Reigen is one of the few to run to his aide even when he has no powers.
@@user-pi1lb4tf2f The thing I love the most that almost nobody seems to get is that Reigen is arguably not even a con man. In season 2 episode 5, he is the only man in an entire room full of real psychics to actually notice something off. He comes across as a real professional investigator who is way above all these goofy idiots, giving an actual presentation in front the whole crowd and doing so eloquently without ever stuttering or stumbling. Overall, he handles the business side of things, acting as a charismatic icon for it to flourish, and leads Mob into using his power to its best potential. It's not like Mob could have run an exorcism business by himself, and this is emphasized in S3 when an adult psychic Serizawa, who must be clearly be aware that Reigen is not a psychic, seems to worship him until the very end. But it gets better, right after when Reigen has his arc and comes to light as a scammer, in just one episode we see several scenes of customers leaving his office smiling and super happy. The author wanted to explicitly emphasis Reigen's positive mark on the world: indeed, in the customer's mind something feels wrong with their body or their well-being, but they are spiritual so instead of saying things like "depression" or "sore shoulders" they call it being "possessed". For these people, Reigen provides a real service like truly listening to their problems and doing therapy for them, or giving them a massage. Sure he throws salt around and shit but that's just ceremony, but during this they are getting to spend time with a real human and to have a connection, and they leave with their money's worth. The fact that the enemy doesn't entirely knew that reigen was just a normal person but in this scene he was powerful AF. In this moment, that reigen berating them, someone so powerful that they can't even compete with. Tagging himself as a "commoner" and making them feel like worthless, making them grasp of reality and utterly destroying their delusional ambition of world domination is so satisfying. He destroyed them from the inside. 100% soul - penetration. LOL! 🤣🤣🤣
This is how you really defeat someone. You don’t physically overpower them, instead you give them the reality check they need. Eventually they’ll come back and thank you for the experience. It’s called Luffy No Jutsu: the power to beat someone and turn them into friends.
@@bobbyjamabo3296 yes ik but im pretty sure his esper powers awakened in season 2. he might have some powers in season 3 but im not a manga reader so idk
I love the fact reigen can casually handle more power than mob could as well as manipulate it better. before you say "bUt MoB iS mOrE poWErfUl" yea but thats like trying to smash a window with a sledgehammer instead of one of those tungsten window punchers. one is all power and the other is just a small needle but does a better job shattering the window into tiny cubes by just pushing it against the window.
Not necessarily. Reigen in no way is "handling more power". The 1000% is not 10x of Mob's 100% but Reigen's own latent psychic energy. He is using as much as Mob's 100%. However, Mob as a kid relies on his emotions as a catalyst when it comes to using his power. He is still learning or re-learning his repressed emotions as he grow-up while Reigen is a matured adult. He was serious in protecting Mob and his brother and friends and the psychic power he got from mob manifested perfectly for him to utilize because of being both stable mentally and genuine emotionally.
Imagine how much the lives of those ppl changed believing Reigen because of how powerful he was in this scene, but in reality it's because of Mob and Reigen is wayyyyy weaker.
@@pierluigidipietro5597 yeah, but Reigen actually lands some hits, like Hypnosis Punch, Self Defense Rush and temporarily stunning Ishiguro with anti-esper dropkick
I remember this scene being so RAW because aside from the obvious parts, he clearly destroyed these people. Mentally. Emotionally. He reverted them and squashed their delusions of grandeur even if compared to anyone else they were right about being above them at least in terms of pecking order. He smacked them down. He made them doubt themselves until they were humiliated at how absurd they were as if they were just regular ass people. Having someone vastly stronger than them at that moment put that perspective into them was like a wake up call. Brutal. Absolutely brutal. Reigens the best
The whole point was that he *wasn't* greater than them. Sure, he had far more psychic power, but that was to show just how arbitrary and meaningless psychic power is. Some random con artist suddenly got enough to flatten them all without even knowing what he was doing. And how'd he get it? From a student who looked up to him, who he wanted to help. Because the whole message of MP100 is that all the power in the world is less valuable than healthy relationships with those around you.
@@juniperrodley9843 alright, how isn't he,"greater" than them? I'll agree with you that his power is arbitrary but he already has better friends and chose to self improve rather than the first assumed and first pick of almost anyone even far older than him. He chose hard work and dedication rather than fun and familiarity. That's in this season. The next one has him telling reigen that he always knew he had no psychic powers. Mobs burden is controlling his emotions which would be arbitrary too with your logic in mind. Hes a middle schooler with some trauma and PTSD whos self conscious and scared of himself because he knows hes not mature enough yet to handle his emotions. Hes been stuck in his head repeating all his doubts and fears so long that this is where his mind has gotten when hes still so young. I do partly agree that relationships matters lot in this show but it's still more about emotions and responding to the world around you. Otherwise it might have been just a slice of life and not necessarily even needed psychic powers and all the action. Since hes so over powered most fights are of little consequence to him and serve more as a way for him to grow in control of the god inside him and add suspense and action. Fighting like this looks flashy but is rather hollow. My point is that it's definitely about more than just his relationships. It's a multi dimensional story about a complex kid with complex but still relatable issues. He could very well inspire a normal average human to learn self control and how to change their negative self perception because for as powerful as he can be, he started out barely passing out from a really short and light jog. Which is funny but it shows how human he and and the amount of growth he can make and has yet to make. You are right and I like your comment. I just think theres more to it. Take care

you mean onizuka.
The psychological beat down was even more savage than any punch.
reigen is the type of guy who dosent study for a test but gets full marks
fr 😂
0:44 at this moment he became a jojo character
mukatte kuru no ka?
I was having a bad day but this made me smile... Thanks...
“I’m a commoner. What does that make you?” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The fact that the enemy doesn't entirely knew that reigen was just a normal person but in this scene he was powerful AF. LOL! 🤣🤣🤣
Bro just straight up roasted them back into society.
I love how these powerful dangerous and resentful psychics were defeated by Reigen-san’s words. It is his weapon.
This is how you really defeat someone. You don’t physically overpower them, instead you give them the reality check they need. Eventually they’ll come back and thank you for the experience. It’s called Luffy No Jutsu: the power to beat someone and turn them into friends.
He actually defeated them with EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!!!!!!!
0:44 proof that reigen is saitamay
Reigen's talk no jutsu almost made me believe that all of these espers use elaborate illusion for their "ability" when i first watched the episode
For a fake psychic, dood sure is dealing a lot of psychic damage
Reigen wud be so OP if he was actually an esper
I wish he was
did you guys watch season 2?
@@UnNamedMonster yh what happened
He could see the spirits right? But he didn't have fighting power
@@user-pi1lb4tf2f dang bro where you learn that
And this is why Reigen is one of my favorite characters. Ever.
I just want to point out that reigen had a 1000% of mobs power and he controlled them so good he didn't even notice
Imagine how much the lives of those ppl changed believing Reigen because of how powerful he was in this scene, but in reality it's because of Mob and Reigen is wayyyyy weaker.
Reigen is pretty much as King in OPM, just way more self confident
@@pierluigidipietro5597 yeah, but Reigen actually lands some hits, like Hypnosis Punch, Self Defense Rush and temporarily stunning Ishiguro with anti-esper dropkick
That's how you crush an idea, "Want world domination? Go look at it first."
The „i am a commoner, what does that make you?!“ line is one of my favorite moments in all storys ive read watched listened to or else.
The only reason i watch this show cause of reigen, he's hilarious af even his reaction🤣
この時の霊幻、面白いを越えて、最早、言葉もその場の空気も狂気の沙汰(笑)
Reigen just crush their spirit to the earth... Mad respect
Reigen with mob's abilities will be op. Bro can destroy you physically, mentally, and emotionally
0:28 This is the point when Reigen turned into the new One Punch Man
Mob: 100% power
Reigen: it's not my power but gonna use 1000% of it anyways.
This was so hype honestly
Reigen's talk no jutsu was enough to to make them despair lmao
This is where we all thought that he unlocked his powers lol
The psychic powers weren't the one to deal damage but the emotional terror he inflicted on them
Roast no jutsu
Take care
"I'M A COMMONER! WHAT DOES THAT MAKE YOU?!" Best line in the series IMHO
God Usopp, King, Reigen, Sekke : The strongest team.
Saitama II?
With hair
This whole scene got me cracked.
BUT. just the delivery of this one line at 2:20, plus the animation style/simply Reigen's face, made me go crazy with laughter, and I still laugh at it. Even harder than Reigen's 🗿🗿🗿
And also, that frame at "So what does that make you?!" it's pure gold, one of the many things that made me appreciate this anime's style of drawing.
The emotional damage in the end is Reigens true power
0:05 bro the world was about the end
He just used Heaven's Door on them and wrote "my powers are useless"
That's funny cuz Reigen and Rohan have the same voice actor
@@niki-fs_4209 yeah, that's why I wrote this comment.
Actually I didn't know he had the same seiyuu as Rohan before I watched this video since I watched Mob Psycho in a dub. It was a nice surprise
DMN this will never get old
He roasted the guys fit😂
Gotta love reigen man can't wait for season 3
Only Reigen can inflict you psychic damage just by the way he deflects your attacks
Reigen’s Rizz is simply the greatest in anime
you know the only reason reigen got through to them with words is because of mobs powers
since they can't just punch there way out of an argument they are forced to listen
its like they say
"speak softly and drive a tank"
ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE.
PLEASE COULD YOU KISS MY NAME.
WHEN THE MUSICS OVER.
TURN OFF THE LIGHT.
IT WAS SUCH A SWEET TIME.
I now understand what Oda means when he said that Luffy didn’t kill his enemies because crushing their evil dreams is worse than death, just like Reigen did with these guys (tough with words instead of fists)
1:40 whenever naruto meets a strong opponent
Indeed
The fact that he used talk no jutsu like that, priceless
Reigen playing 5D chess at this point and casually roasting everyone.
This is one of the most enjoyable sequences I have ever seen in anime :D :D
0:44 proof that reigen is saitama
Like their are insane disses starting from ice cube to eminem but this. This is not just murder this is just pure soul crushing. You’d rather die then to have this man
love him or hate him he's spitting facts
A whole other kind of 'psychic damage' on display.
Has been more than a year this man hasn't come back
Man I really do miss him since his one video is blowing up
Mob at 100% : Destruction
Reigen at 100% : Chill
"Also, when you're talking to someone, remove your mask!"
That aged like milk.
bruhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Reigen: stop being childish and grow up
Everyone: EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
