    The name of the stove is "Bullerjan". Originally a Canadian patent. Later it was sold to Germany. The stove is built to give off heat quickly.

    Good job. Very interesting. I was thinking of using welded wire mesh to make a bin on a wooden pallet. The wire is manufactured for concrete reinforcement.
    The plastic on top seems a good idea. I thought of maybe making covers of used steel roofing. I could probably get used plastic for free, that was used on a corn pile.
    To unload, my idea was to drag down a ramp. I did not think of an overhead rail. First choice would be a loader with a fork
    WoodMizer makes a good-looking wood splitter. It is an unusual type, said to do three cord per hour. The type of equipment you need depends on the type of wood that you have: diameter, length, straightness, and split resistance. A processor may be over 100 horsepower and over $100,000.
    I expect firewood to become more important with Biden in office.

    Amazed nice straight decent sized logs are worth more as firewood than saw logs for lumber. So what happens to all the wood in the branches and tops you don't see in the log pile ?

      probably put in the chipper on site and then sent to the biomass mill for pellets etc.

    the rain can still get inside the bag with the cover on the inside should it not be on the outside? have you ever tryed this method of drying with softwood ??

      If he's getting a 20% moisture reading, that's really good.

    • @djbmw1
      @djbmw1 6 лет назад +1

      august unless its 20% on the exterior of the wood. When testing moisture content, you need to split the wood in half and test immediately for an accurate reading - testing the exterior is useless.

  • @Chuck88keys

    I think he said each bag contains 7 cubic metres. So, how many cu FT would that be? Those are nice shorter pieces to fit most smaller stoves and look fairly seasoned, but not completely. That "7" metres must be the capacity of the bag, but the pieces just FALL in, they are not "packed", which actually REDUCES the wood-volume by 25-30%

    • @augustreil
      @augustreil 7 лет назад +2

      I think he said 1.5 cubic meters per bag. There's 35 cubic ft in a cubic meter, so that's roughly 52 cubic ft. There's 128 cubic ft in a cord, so it's a little under a 1/2 a cord per bag. If those pieces are 20% moisture like he said, that's pretty good and looks to be pretty clean. He could also sell the chips for kindling in smaller bags.

    • @Chuck88keys
      @Chuck88keys 7 лет назад

      My mistake. YES he did say 1.5 meter. Don't forget to "reduce that by almost 30 percent ) because when wood is just dumped in rather than STACKED, with all the air-spacing, almost 30% of the wood VOLUME is lost, so that takes the amount of ( wood ) you get to around 36 cubic feet, which is not even ONE-Third of a cord. ( 118 cubic feet ) rather than the 128 ft per cord. I wonder what the price must be "per bag"? Not very cheap i assume?....and possibly NOT very hard woods either. I recently ordered 3 cords, 2 of mostly red and white oak, and the other one he brought was Hickory, all for the most part 'Excellent hardwoods and long lasting with great "coal buildup" for $225 per cord,and FULLY seasoned mover 18 months.

    • @augustreil
      @augustreil 7 лет назад

      Very true about getting a 1/3 of a cord per bag. The wood he is using is beech and a pretty good wood to burn, maybe not as good as red/white oak but still good. I also would be interested in the cost per bag so we could figure out how much a cord is ? Whatever it is, it looks like he must be doing something right ?

    • @Chuck88keys
      @Chuck88keys 7 лет назад

      I'm sure he gets plenty of business, otherwise he wouldn't have all those bags drying outside, but i thinktheyshould be inside. Some of it is definitely getting wet. Just covering the top doesn't help very much. Has had good ideas though.

    • @42lookc
      @42lookc 7 лет назад

      I would think a large shed, open on all sides (like a Butler or Eagle Span building) to allow for lots of air circulation would make for really predictable, speedy, and uniform drying with this system. I wonder if he's making wood pellets out of the sawdust and splinters, because he definitely seems focused on efficiency.
