Solid video. Great options. Sage counsel. Bill, VERY well done. I'm starting to think more about bourbons and so those Four Roses bottles and that Evan Williams bottle will be on my hit-list. :)
Love the Glenmorangie 10. Absolutely solid Highland whisky. Nothing to abrasive for a newcomer, but still flavors and notes to explore. Always have a bottle on my shelf.
Excellent video! Really good recommendations. A lot of bourbon drinkers I know say they don’t like the peat flavor so Scotch, so I endorse your recommendations of Monkey Shoulder and The Classic Laddie to gain converts. Also, the only name I’d put on this list that I didn’t see is Johnnie Walker Green Label. Very smooth intro Scotch, only drawback is that it’s hard to find because it’s so popular. Thanks again for posting the video!
Great list! I feel advanced in scotch yet a noob in bourbon. So this gives me a great base to launch from. Super helpful. If people do want to go down the smoke route; I would suggest the Talisker 10, Lagavulin 16 and Laphroaig 10. Some people will instantly hate it, but some (like me) will like it from the get go. For people wanting to level up from that - I recommend the Port Charlotte 10.
Good video with different levels of scotch. Aberlour A'bunadh and Aultmore 12 were the ones that took me down the malt whisky rabbit hole when I was a CS bourbon drinker. Cheers Bill

☝️Bourbon Whiskeys Kentucky Straight Bourbon Michter's Eagle Rare Wild Turkey Knob Creek I got mine delivered to me in my house at good price. From an online wholesaler.. great taste
First off, the production values are awesome and the delivery was superb. I just started this hobby and I've tried three bourbons (Wild Turkey, Bulleit, & Woodford Reserve) with the last two having a real strong alcohol taste (all with ice). How about a video for people who didn't drink liquor and are starting out for the first time with whiskey? For me, I'm going to pass on bourbons for the time being.
Great video Bill. Lots of good choices here. Would have people try Glenfiddich 14yr Bourbon Barrel Reserve as well to get bourbon barrel drinkers into scotch. Cheers
I was considering something from Ardbeg, maybe Uigeadail or An Oa, but thought I'd stay away from anything smokey (the An Oa wasn't my favorite either)
Awesome concept and execution of your idea. I quite like your list for the variety of styles and price ranges. For Scotch, I'd recommend anything from Arran for sure. Cheers Bill 🥃🇨🇦🇺🇲
Great video! Thanks for the no-nonsense video that cuts right to the point. The irony of not wanting to make this video 20 min long is that I’ll replay four or five times just to process all the “hmm that seems interesting... maybe I’ll pick that one up next time” hahaha.
You’re getting me to try the Aultmore 12 from this video. I’ve been getting into the Speysides, don’t get me wrong….. I still love Laphroaig and Ardbeg. 😎. As for Johnnie Walker Black….. it’s a GREAT starter and also as an inexpensive daily drinker (one of mine) for the more experienced so we can try and pick apart the blend. 😎😎

Wow. I don't even care about whiskey (any alcohol really); I followed you here from an ancient GIMP wood-burning tutorial where you commented we should come and see your header (which, *duh*, naturally, so many years later, has long since changed, and probably several times). So here I am and this video autoplayed, and I actually watched it all the way through. And you know, if I were at all into alcohol, I'd be trying a couple whiskies now because you made it sound like fun instead of pretentious. ;) So, well done!
Hah wow yea, that header was quite a while ago. I've since gotten good at Photoshop instead :) many more tutorials on that! I'm glad you took the time to comment on the video and slightly envious that you don't drink at all. I'd have saved quite a bit of money :)

I'm throwing a cheeseburger liquor party next Saturday. Just out of curiosity what is one whiskey you would possibly recommend to go along with a big ol fat bacon cheeseburger? 😂😂😂😂
I would recommend a spicy (higher rye) bourbon like Wild Turkey 101. Or a peaty scotch like Ardbeg 10 or maybe one of my favorites; Talisker 10, if you like smoke in your whisky :-)
Oh man, this is a great question... what whiskey would go with a burger... Has to be something sweet in my mind... if I were going for something people typically have on hand, I'd say a Maker's Mark would go well... Know what Louie, I'm gonna post a community post to answer this one...

If you don't wanna break the bank go for the Talisker 10.
Its definetely important to try a smoky or peated whisky to see if you dont like it. I was trying these sweeter whiskys as a beginner and was put off as it was too sweet then i tried Talisker 10 which is unbelievable and a great intro to the peated side of things
Keep up the good work! I like the concise and informative approach you adopt towards introducing and tasting whisky compared to the casual discussions that other whisky youtubers do in their video.
This is a great video! The information is presently clearly. I like showing what the bottles look like and giving the price. Those are super helpful so you know what to look for and roughly how much you should be paying. I know the first bottle of Eagle Rare I saw around here was $90 and I thought that seemed awfully high even for something not common in the area. Knowing prices helps you know if a store is marking things up so you can avoid them in the future!
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary Yeah, that was like a year and a half ago when I saw it. I've not been back to that store since. I picked up a bottle for MSRP online. There were a few things I wanted that I couldn't get around here so shipping was free! Would have still been cheaper than $90 even if I had to pay shipping. 😂
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary love your vids shame I live in Lebanon. If you don't know there's lots of inflation so I have to get cheaper whiskies so prices fluctuates

Its funny, in my area at least it's actually hard to find as well and I've heard the flavor is inconsistent.
IMHO GlenDronach 12 is a better and cheaper sherried whisky experience than Glenmorangie La Santa. And BTW, don't knock the smoke til you've tried it.
I love the smoke, but agree... people need to learn to love peat
