Thank you! Yeah man I can’t imagine going to the debt some guys go into with the trucks. Especially the tool boxes. Luckily I have good experienced guys around me to give me advice on what is worth spending up on and what’s really just not. And after all it’s the tools that make you money not the box.
@@kennywood1678 Your skills and knowledge are even more important than the tools. You might lose you tools someday from fire, theft, or flood. Those tools can be replaced, but your experience cannot.
Keep up the drive! Being new to any industry especially bikes can be daunting. Just remember every mistake is a learning experience. Nice tools are very important and you’ve got a lot of bases covered with good tools but the most important tool is to keep learning.
Thank you for the kind words! And yes I agree 100%! I’ve already learned so much at this point and I have good guys around me that keep me in line and help me out whenever a mistake is made or if I need help. I do my best to learn all I can from not the best situations. As you know mistakes are bound to happen! I appreciate the comment!
25 year auto tech here, I work industrial maintenance now cause the money is better, but it looks like a nice setup. Just wait till you start making your own tools.
I wish you the best sir! Keep up your positive attitude for sure!!! You've got some really nice tools for being new in the industry. I really like that you got the us general & milwaukee box's and not tool truck box's! There nice but they just hold tools! Tools that you use a lot or ones you break replace them with quality one's. Be honest with your customers. Appreciate the guys taking the time to teach you. Your doing awesome and congratulations!!
Thank you so much man! Much appreciated! Yeah man me too and honestly I enjoy the boxes I have they just work and I’m sure will last me more then long enough as I try to take care of my things. And exactly the box doesn’t make me the money!! Very true man I will keep all those things in mind. I’ve always tried to only spend up on the all day everyday kind of tools that I depend on. Thank you for the comment and kind words!
Well done young man. It’s great to see someone investing in their future. I’m 62 and still buying tools so it never ends. Just bought a set of mini circling pliers to get the snap ring of my Harley clutch pivot pin, I could probably have managed without but that’s not the point. I love it!
Thank you sir!! Much appreciated. Oh yeah it’s 100% an investment! Looking forward to years of new tools and new projects! I have some coworkers in their 60s and they aren’t done either 😂 but can’t complain when it’s something you love to do!
Damn, son, you've accumulated a lot of tools quickly! As a former M/C dealer, let me remind you it's primarily seasonal work. Save money for the lean months.
You are really nicely set up for a first year mechanic. Didn’t see a T70 torx socket in your stuff. If you ever work on newer Harley primary components, you will need that for the crank. You won’t use it often but you NEED it when you need it. I bought a cheap Carlyle brand T70 from Napa for about 10 bucks. No need to spend big money on a socket you will rarely use.
Nice little video, I'm getting out of the military soon to go to school and pursue a career as a Harley tech. Trying to compile some newer tools since all my current ones were my grandfather's.
Thank you! And awesome man it really is a great time working on bikes! I love it so far. And of course nice tools that work well make it that much better! Good luck!!
@@Nostr0m0187 nice! Snap on ratchets are the best in my opinion. I absolutely love mine. And nothing wrong with craftsman either!! I have a lot of old craftsman USA stuff at home and some at work and that stuff just works!!
You've done a good job of starting off with the roll cart. Lots of more room in there for essential tools in there. Also smart on buying less expensive tool storage vs the high end tool boxes. Tools make $$$, tool boxes don't.
Thank you!! Much appreciated. Yeah man and even though I got the “cheap” boxes doesn’t mean they won’t hold my tools! And personally I enjoy both my boxes. And 100% agree I will always prioritize nicer tools over nicer box. And it’s ways nice not owing the snappy man thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars! 😂
Hell yeah man! I have that same US General full bank cart. Little over a year now, & it’s great for the price. I’m going to follow your channel, hopefully we get to see some moto tech content. I see follow a lot of auto tech channels, but I ride too so it’d be interesting to see a Moto guy. Side note- as soon as I saw that big 27mm ratchet wrench I knew exactly what you had that for lol. I have a snappy 27mm myself, non ratchet tho.. you got a good setup going for being 8 months in. I was reading some of the other comments, & it’s nice that you got seasoned guys to help walk you thru that type of stuff. Anyways take care bro! 🤙🏻
Yeah man thank you !! I love my cart for the money. And I do plan on making some bike videos soon! Just came in to a couple dirt bikes for me to tinker around with and ride! And yessir you know what’s up! 😂 big ole wrench’s like that are super handy to get in to the axles without taking bags and other things apart to get a socket in there. Yeah man I really am in a good spot right now! It’s awesome for me being so new so I don’t make any unnecessary mistakes. Thank you for the comment and you can count on more content coming out !! Much appreciated man! Cheers.
I would absolutely say a solid bit ratchet and assortment of bits help so much on hard to reach Allen’s or bolts on bikes. Stubby/ long/ball end Allen sockets are also lifesavers. And I’ve recently come to love electric ratchets!
i bought from amazon neiko metric hex sockets.. they feel soft, i use them with a regular ratchen only.. the 4 mm twisted a litle bit after 3 bolts... how is yours?
So far mine work great! I use the 5,6,8 the most and I’ve had no issues had them for a few months now. I use them on my Milwaukee stubby and mid torque impacts too
I honestly love it so far!! I’ve been a gear head my whole life and came from wrenching on my own cars for years but I chose motos cause I didn’t want to do super basic auto stuff all the time starting out. I love motorcycles cause I get to do all kinds of work and also I get a lot of variety of different bikes. Also can’t go wrong with riding different bikes around everyday.
Love it. This my level of OCD 😂 put it back where you found it it'll never go missing, less fucking Josh been sniffing around for something to "borrow"
Roscoe isn’t gunna warranty those chrome sockets after he sees this video & sees you’re using them on the Big Daddy impact 😂😂 Nah he probably would, he seems like a cool dude. I know my guy would anyways lol 😆🫢
Bike tech is by far the coolest mechanic trade! I want to get back at it. 🍻
Sweet setup, nice to see a new tech that didn’t give his soul to the tool trucks lol

@@kennywood1678 Exactly I don’t understand how someone can justify 30k for a tool box it’s crazy
@@jdgarage85 seriously man. It just doesn’t make sense no matter how nice a box is.

@@kennywood1678hopefully someone explained that you don't buy mid torque in 3/8". It needs to be half or bigger or things tend to break.

Nicely set up. Good job. You have all the bases for working on most bikes covered.

Good stuff man. Like the variety . Love the milwaukee wrenches myself . Good to see the ICON in the real world shops

Do mechanics have to buy all of their own tools ?
Yes. Everything besides manufacturer specific special tools
