Thanks for watching my recovery story. If you found this helpful or can identify in any way, please leave me a comment.
YOUR ALIVE BECAUSE THERE IS A REASON ...YOU CAN HELP ANOTHER ALCOHOLIC AND ADDICT WHEN NO ONE ELSE CAN... ITS A MIRACLE... YOU ARE A MIRACLE .... SO THANK THE GOD OF YOUR UNDERSTANDING, YOUR HIGHER POWER...
You were excellent and I really appreciate it; I shared it in group with my clients; I too am in recovery for 22yrs now. Again thank you!
I'm also in recovery ( almost 2 years) I still struggle with resentment about my childhood, so I identify with that part. And to be honest, my childhood wasn't thàt bad. I want to get over this victim mentality.
You are Awesome 💕
THANK YOU ❤
Thank you KJ. At this point in my life (60’s), I have come to the conclusion that being a physically beautiful person is a very dangerous place. Adolescent girls especially are just so vulnerable, as nobody wants to say “no” to them. They don’t realize their power, and there are bad People constantly waiting to take advantage. Thoughhts?
Yes, I agree.
Like Jennifer Kelley said it has been 3 years since this story narrated here, I barely jumped on to KJ & Tony’s travels and life in France, this popped up today, listening to it, its a story of courage, love, gratitude to the life and the Almighty behind it, for all the raging storm we can be forgiving and search and find peace, harmony, love and contentment if we only try. Things that we can accomplish no matter the age, KJ’s story is a testimony!
Thank you so much for your kind words, Ranga. I apologize for the delayed response but I have been sick the past couple of weeks and just now starting to feel better.
I love your your you tube videos. I’ve watched your sober video twice.
KT, my story is pretty much like yours except you chose to go to college and I didn’t.
I was a addict, got sober in 1979 when I was 29 years old. So proud, no relapse, sober years. I call my sobriety “pain management”. Lol I’ve been thru a year of hell….broke my neck in Jan 2023, hubby diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. My Tony died April. 27, 2023. I had to downsize, buy a condo, moved and dealt with all the estate stuff. I wished for a nano second, wouldn’t it be nice to have a glass of wine. Really, Deanna, how would a relapse help my stressful life. Thank you so much for sharing.
Hi Deanna. I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I've been sick and just feeling better today. Congrats on your sobriety. I'm so glad to know you can relate.
I can relate to your experience, too. There us nothing - absolutely nothing - that a drink is going to ever make better ❤️
Thank you for sharing this. I can only imagine how hard it is to recount this; not only just for yourself, but opening up to the world wide web. It's very cathartic to hear your experience. I appreciate what you do. You're a great inspiration and role model.
Congratulations on your 11 years of sobriety. I am so happy for you that your son has got his head on straight now. Stay strong :)
Thank you so much, Anne 💜 I appreciate you watching and your supportive and kind comments 😊
KJ I have looked up to you from the day we met!! Your story is inspiring and gave me the courage to tell my story. God You and the Steps helped me though a seamless state of living. My biggest defect was Victim I carried that around for years. I am living a life beyond my wildest Imagination. Thank you so much for your Honesty. ❤️
You are AMAZING! Thank you 💜🤟😘
I am pretty sure you are saving lives with your work. Thank you!
I certainly hope so. There have been so many people who helped to save me and my son. Thanks for watching, Carol.
I cried during this entire video. I wanted to point out how by the end of the video you just really brightened up and your whole demeanor was just so proud and full of light talking about your recovery it was beautiful to watch and inspired me that I may be able to be that bright light too one day. Although it seems impossible to me right now. Thank you for sharing this!
I know this is 3 yrs old but I needed it today. I was prescribed 180 tabs of oxycodone 5 mg 13 years ago and every month since. I only recently realized I need help getting rid of this dependency. That’s the first step of a million mile journey.
Thank you for your kind words, Erin. I really appreciate it and glad it gave you some hope. I apologize for the late response, but I've been sick for a couple of weeks and just now starting to feel better.
You are that " bright light " right now ."
Everybody needs help in this lifetime.
Addiction is a disease not a lack of moral character. Same as schizophrenia was many years ago. So was fibromyalgia not many years ago...and my medical profession labeled them " crazy hyoercondracts.." I knew they were right.

Absolutely loved what you shared, it takes a lot of courage dignity and strength to tell your story he did such a great job! I can see why you named your two books the Warriors guid to successful sobriety and a resilient warrior journal!! It takes a warrior and a peaceful warrior After you’re sober of course for a while achieving the peaceful warrior because as you adressed time takes time etc to become sober, stay and live sober For the rest of our lives it takes constant resilience, and work but it’s so worth it!!!!!
Thank you with all my heart for sharing this and being you!
Thank you, Mary 💜 I appreciate you watching. You are such a true Warrior yourself 💪🙏 Sending much love to you 🤟
Thank you so much for sharing your story KJ! It really helps to hear other peoples stories of addiction and recovery especially in times where you feel hopeless. It takes a great deal of bravery to be so candid, open and honest about your past. I have huge admiration for you. When you said about going through life with a victim outlook I really feel like I relate to that and had never thought about how I viewed life with a victim outlook. I also really relate when you say you didn't want to be you. I have felt that my whole life too! All your videos are speaking volumes to me and gives me more hope then I have had before! Thank you KJ the world could use more people like you ❤
Thank you, Holly! You made my day. It is so rewarding to know that I am actually helping people! Thank you so much for your kind words 💜 There IS SO MUCH HOPE and so often we just don't believe it is going to get better. I am so glad you are starting to see it and feel it. Keep moving forward!!
My father, 3 siblings and ex partner all suffer from alcoholism. I am in Al-anon, have been for a few months. The support and understanding of others has really helped me but so do videos like yours. Recovery will be their choice but to listen to success stories like yours gives me hope. I hope your and your son’s path continues in sobriety x
Thank you, Mary.
I guess I are a 12 step advocate. I'm proud of u.
Thank you!
I needed this story today !!! 3 years later and God just sent me this to see and really hear you now !! For months I followed your move to France and back. This is the video that MOVED ME. thank you so much,I love and respect you even more now !
I'm so glad you found it helpful, Linda. Appreciate the kind words ❤️❤️❤️
KJ, thank you for sharing your story. I was compelled from that genuine exhale at the beginning (thank you for not editing it out!). It was raw and commanded one’s full attention like the entirety of your story.
You are a beautiful person inside and out. I read the comments and I am struggling with some of the negativity. I love how you reply with grace to all who comment. One’s story is one’s story and it takes courage and honesty to tell it. I am proud of you for your recovery and passion for helping others with your uncensored transparency. There is no one more resilient than someone in recovery. Whatever path that individual takes to get there and stay there is the correct one for that person. I am grateful to call you a friend.
Thank you, Jason. I am so grateful and touched. I appreciate you and your kind words of support 🥰
KJ, you did such a great job sharing your story! I am an LADC and I plan to show this video to my group. God bless you, sister!
Thank you so much 🥰
Thank you so much for your vulnerability in this video. I don’t know how I missed it before. Thank you for painting a real picture of what recovery looks like. Your story gives me hope.
Thank you. I am so glad to know you found it helpful and hopeful 💜
Rae, Reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice and have a healthier life. Your breath is directly related to your mind [brain] causing negative thoughts-anxiety. For a relaxed life sit on a chair, back straight, eyes closed, be as still as possible and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for around 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight with your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep inhalation-exhalation needed. Anytime of the day or night before sleep sit or lie down on your back and observe your breath. Stillness brings internal peace. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.
Being envious of everybody else all my life really hit home. And feeling sorry for myself....all self centered. Thank you for this video
Glad you found it helpful, Sandra 💜
KJ - my memory of you is and has always been that you are a women of strength, tenacious and a lot of fun. When I'd see you at events in high school, riding our bikes uptown looking for boys and running into each other at the most random of beach parties, you were always kind, smart and edgy. At a time when people didn't share themselves or their struggles, we survived looking for meaning. Higher power had us all along. Love your posts... keep sharing it gives me permission to embrace my deepest self. Girl from the hood - Sayville xxx000
Thank you, Debra 💜 I, too, have such fond memories of our time together in Sayville. And, you reaching out during your visit to Delray was so wonderful. You are a very special person. Thank you for your kind words. It brought back memories and a huge smile. Sending you lots of love 🤗😘
@@DRKJFOSTER Go Delray!!!
Thank you for sharing such a compelling story. You really captured my attention. I have never struggled with addiction to a substance - my challenges have been, however, in overcoming some deeply entrenched limiting beliefs. Surrounding to a higher power is always the ultimate answer, in my opinion. Your personal success is such an inspiration!
Thank you for watching, Laura 💜 Yes, so many limiting beliefs that hold us back from claiming and strengthening our personal power. I thank Louise Hay for her amazing contributions to this world and in helping me to understand and overcome my limiting beliefs. She was a powerhouse 🙏 Thanks again for taking the time to watch. So nice to meet you here on RUclips 🌸
@@DRKJFOSTER Indeed Louise was! In fact, last night, I was going through a folder of documents I had from the late 1990s. Louise Hay sent me a personally written and signed letter of support in response to a question I asked at that time. I will always keep it. On another note - please let me know if you have any videos on dealing with helping your children launch. I have a challenging adult child at the moment - not quite as tumultuous as the challenge you may have had with your older son - but, quite difficult. He has social anxiety.
You are such a brave and admirable person to share your story. I thoroughly appreciate it and could "feel" how hard it was to go back there. I'm so happy for you and your son. I think you showed true love to your son by doing what gou did. I'm also an Irish Catholic "victim" for no reason, so I totally relate! Thank you for sharing, you are so strong and brave 💜
Thank you, Lauren 💜 I appreciate you so much. I appreciate you watching, your support of my channel and your kind and loving words 😘 I hope you are having a great day!
There were some things that I definitely can relate. I wanted to say that I really respect you wearing your heart on your sleeve true bravary thank you for sharing
I'm glad you found some things you could relate to. Thank you for watching and your kind words 💜
It’s so great to get to hear your story and follow the steps with you.
❤️
I’m new to recovery, and find you so helpful.
Long Island originally, now I’m in California.
Hi Maria - I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Welcome to recovery...it's a wonderful journey of self-discovery and growth. It's truly given me the opportunity to become stronger and more content than I ever thought possible. Where are you from on Long Island?
KJ, thank you so much for your story. I relate to you in so many areas and I could really feel your emotion at one point when you were talking about your son and I know that feeling well. I am happy that God has put you in my life.
Thank you, Roxanne 💜 I feel the same way. So grateful for you 🙏
May HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE CHRIST BLESS YOU
Thank you 🙏
In the beginning of getting sober I think we all have this dream life should be easy, but we quickly find the devil tries his hardest to break our soberity. He uses our families as tools against us. After I quit weed 8 months ago it absolute hell with my family. It's better now but I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on my worst enemy. For those who are in early recovery stick with it but except your soberity to be tested!
Thanks for sharing your experience, Keith. It's so true 💜 Glad you're doing better.
Thank you for sharing. It seems like there is deep trauma there. So happy you're doing so well now ❤
Yes, thank you
Hello Dr. Foster👋🏾👋🏾👋🏾I'm also an alcoholic in recovery (almost 4 months sober) and I'm so GRATRFUL for your decision to share your experience. There is SOOOOO much I can relate to here. Like yourself, I took my life for granted as a child and was very ungrateful for the opportunities I had been afforded. I was also emotionally neglected because my family went through a lot so I really had a victim mindset on fleek🤦🏾♀️I'm in my 30s now and only beginning to build my life from scratch. I'm talking scratch like even taking basic care of myself. I'm intimidated by the task ahead to transform myself but I'm also grateful for people like yourself who show us the way. I have found so much treasure on this channel, I will recommend it to the still struggling addicts around me. Thank you for being of service🙏🏾I wish you many more miracles❤
Hi Tshego - First of all, congrats on your almost 4 months sober. Keep going, it gets better and better, or I should say YOU get better and better. Thank you also for your kind words. I'm glad you can identify and you are benefiting from my videos. You made my day. Hope you have a great one today 💜🤗🙏
Dr. Foster that was an amazing share. It’s comforting to hear a testimony like that when you think that your own story is the worst that could ever be. It gives hope. It tells you that you are not alone, and not some isolated failure. I wish I could go back and change the past, but we all know that the past is gone, and living in the present is the only way to live. It’s all we ever have.
Thank you. I'm so glad you found it helpful.
When you talk about being on the floor that night sobbing and praying and something changed after that, I have the same experience. I had prayed so many times before and I never “felt” differently in my life or anything. It took me completely breaking down one night while I was praying over my 2 boys- begging In tears to please show me the way to protect my kids and to help me find the strength to do what I have to do- I literally felt the holy spirit enter me. It started at the top of my head and I can only explain that it was euphoric over my entire body. Like the warmth you feel after an opiate. It started at my head and went all the way to my feet. Ever since then I see things a lot differently. I stumble but I know what path I’m on now.
17 days sober from all substances now. After 8 years of addiction. It wasn’t until that night I surrendered everything and literally was at his feet did I find the strength to make the changes I needed to make. Thank you for all your videos they are helping me so much doing the deep work needed to heal.
Hi Krystal! Congratulations on your sobriety!! Sounds like we had very similar experiences of surrender. I'm so glad you found the video to be helpful and wish you much continued success on your recovery journey 🙏🌺💜
So happy to hear others have to reach their bottom till they reach out for help. Hope you're still sober.
Such an inspiring story! Thank you for sharing this. In September it'll be 17 years since my last drink but I was able to quit by myself. Found out I had high blood pressure at a check-up and my trick was giving my accountability to my doctor. But I feel like I haven't grown since then. I'm curious if what helped you was "simply" working the steps and the support of your group and sponsor or if you went to therapy as well?
Hi Laura - Thanks so much. I'm glad you found the video helpful. I went to therapy as well. I still do about once a month and I'm approaching 14 years! Congrats on your 17 years!! Nice to meet you.
Finished this video today & was so moved when you spoke of your son's struggles. Listening makes me feel less guilt and shame over my parenting. KJ, you are a beautiful, inspiring, compassionate woman. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world!
Thank you, Carolyn. You made my day 💜 Also was excited to see that you'll be joining the Compassion Workshop. See you soon. Enjoy your day 🤗
I just wanted to say I know this video is old as dirt but your pearls of wisdom are gold! Thank you so much for explaining this from another parents point of you some thing I much needed❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful ❤️❤️❤️
Self image is crucial! Not developing a good self image causes many, many problems. You may have bonded with your dad (and not your mom?) and losing him at such a young age ( not knowing why he was gone and thinking it might have been your fault) may have really harmed your sense of self.
Yes, most definitely.
This was a really great video that of course found me on a day I really appreciated it. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing this and opening up!
Your son is lucky he has such a loving mom and angel.
Wish I had an ear like you to listen. Sighhhh
Be blessed and keep inspiring..
Thank you, Peter 💜
Thank you for sharing your story. I am just now starting my recovery journey. Your story has truly motivated me at a time of weakness. I was experiencing a craving that almost won the battle. After hearing your story, I overcame and made it through the night with no drink. ❤️
Congrats, Lisa!! Recovery is the best decision I ever made. I'm glad you found the video motivating. Thanks for watching and good luck to you.
You are a brave soul for sharing your story. God bless you. You're such an inspiration of strength. As a single dad with two boys, I can't imagine the pain, the hurt..wow. There's nothing like the blessings of God.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Mac 💜 I appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave me a comment 😊🙏
Thank you so very much🤗. I quit alcohol 5 years ago. My partner has been in rehab for the past 6 weeks. Everyone told me to “dump” him. I joined Al Anon last month and have now subscribed to your channel and app, and am looking forward to starting the steps and prayerfully and carefully seeing if we are able to start again when he comes out in January🙏🏻🌻
Hi Lyndsay! Sorry for the late reply. I'm just seeing your comments. So glad to know AlAnon is helping you and you're going to give it another chance with your partner. Best of luck to you in your recovery journey together.
I realize this is three years old but I appreciate it as if it were recorded today. Thank you for the inspiration.
You are so welcome! I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
You have an inspiring story. Your insight into the 12 steps of recovery and positive attitude on recovery in your family is a blessing to me. Thank you.
Hi Helen - Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm so glad you found the video to be helpful and I apologize for my late reply. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to leave me a comment.
Been following the France stories. This popped up today. Fills in a lot of blanks and adds a lot of credibility to your France tales, never know how to perceive what one sees on RUclips. Thanks for your strength, honesty and success.
Thank you. I apapreciate your kind words and support.
awesome! thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!!
My pleasure!!
Respect your candidness in telling your story. Not an easy thing to do, but it will benefit so many in the program.
Thank you. Appreciate you watching 💟
This was profound, powerful, articulate, and inspiring! Thank you so much!❤
You are so welcome!
Thank you doing this video KJ….Sending love, hugs, prayers and kindness ❤️👍🏼🙏🏼
Thanks for watching and for all the love, kindness and prayers ❤️🥰🙏
Dear KJ: This video popped up on my feed earlier today! So proud of you continuing your recovery. Recently, you were posting videos about your move to Paris lock stock and barrel. And I suppose this video is somehow related to the Paris videos as originating from you and that is why it was on my feed? That's just my guess. Anyway, GOD does work in amazing ways! You made the right decision to go back to the US and hope your anxiety has dissipated. I came into sober recovery very young and have lived a full sober life...one day at a time I celebrated 44 years in December. In my view, I am not "recovered" ...ever... as I continue to be "recovering" on a daily basis and willing to be teachable by understanding I have a daily reprieve contingent upon the maintenance of my spiritual condition. I am from the north shore of Long Island and moved into Manhattan at age 19 and have been here ever since...so another similarity! I have traveled the world building with Habitat for Humanity on every habitable continent and Africa twice going to meetings everywhere and in some of the most remote areas on the planet! Very deep gratitude for the life I have been given ! Hope you will be going back to Paris...when you are ready! Blessings to you and Tony!
Hi Ann! Thank you so much for sharing your experience and congratulations on your 44 years of sobriety. That is so wonderful! I love that you've been to meetings everywhere. That's such a great experience. We'll be going back to Paris in October, but only for a short stay this time. Sending blessings your way as well ❤️
@@DRKJFOSTER : That's terrific, KJ and so glad you are staying for a short time. I mentioned in your earlier video about coming back to the US -- I can only travel for 3 months at a clip because I need to touch base with my "roots" as my great-grand sponsor used to say to me. Looking forward to your new videos whenever you post them. That is on your timetable, KJ and not others! ❤
The best talk I’ve heard on the topic of recovery, thank you so much , this is exactly why I needed, ❤
Incredible! ❤️🤩💎🥰
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I drank alcohol a few times in my teens but always got sick to my stomach. I took Valium and Percocet( not together) and got sick to my stomach. I think God was protecting me. I got hooked on pot for years and eventually it made me really sick. I hate that feeling! I do smoke cigarettes and drink a lot of coffee. I'd like to stop. Any ideas?
What a GREAT video!👏❤
Thank you!!
Thanks for sharing your story
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing. Your story made my day. Thanks for being so strong for all of us. I started off in 1978 playing in bars in Ft. Lauderdale. Well... that's the start of my long story. Keep up the good work!
Hi Andy - Thanks for your kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Have a great day!
Incredible history thank you for sharing 💕😘🥰🙏🙏
Thanks for watching, Aurelys.
I only drink a glass a wine twice a year and I've never used drugs. My father was an alcoholic/addict and my mother smokes so it made me never want too.
I'm curious, any special occasions that are associated with the twice a year glass of wine?
@@DRKJFOSTER Usually Christmas and New Year's Eve.
Strong story, unfortunately I can't identify with much of it. I feel so alone in this. When I need someone to talk to, people just want to throw solutions at me. They don't listen to me. I know the program in and out, I know it by heart, what I need is for someone to hear me, touch me, be with me. But I can't have that and it breaks my heart. Over and over again, I'm left to my myself.
Hi Chris, I"m so sorry to hear of your suffering. I hope you are able to continue to reach out and connect with others who can help you recover.
Chris, so sorry too, keep trying, it will get better. Have you tried therapy? Do you share at meetings?
This is so refreshing ❤
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for your story - I love and appreciate your raw honesty and hope by watching you I will inturn help myself
Awesome share!
Thank you.
Thank you. Going on 90 days, and it’s not easy. One day at a time
Thank you...
You're welcome! Thank you for watching ❤️
I love your videos ! mainly the long ones.
Thank you. I'm glad you are enjoying them.
I have been addicted to benzo since 2005. They were given to me by my husband. I tried to give up in2016 end, successfully gave up until the 2019 covid hit and issues family pushed me down the drain again. Victim mentality and anger against my husband that he prescribed and got from chemist in India. 4 years later in 2009 all fingers my and his family members were pointed to me.
I suffered from severed nerve pain besides all symptoms with electric currents in arms in 2018, then I didnt know the withdrawal pain. It neverhealed fully in4 year's.And covid with husband or me and I am back on them. Can't do it again for the pain had killed me withno support from family.
Kadambari, I am so sorry to hear of your terrible suffering. Please don't give up. You can do it with the right support and guidance. Keep seeking help 🙏
It takes so much courage to do this. As someone who has struggled with this and also lost their father to it, i can completely relate to everything you say.
Let alone suffering through this, but you are helping people everyday!
Hope God gives you enough and more strength to continue with your beautiful journey with your children :)
Thank you ❤️
We watched your story during my “Understanding Addictions” group this morning. We watch a lot of your videos but this one really gave me a new found respect and admiration for you. You’re an inspiration.
Hi depreezy! Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed it and found it inspiring. I was definitely nervous filming it and knowing that it would be out there in the world for anyone to see; hence, the "ums" and "uhs." It helps when I get feedback like yours. It makes it all worth it! I hope you have a great day!!
@@DRKJFOSTER I totally understand. I get nervous sharing my story during meetings, but each time gets a little easier. Thank you for your reply and enjoy your day also!!
I know you made this video, three years ago but alas the power if the Internet, you have helped me today. I am on day 6 and this is not my first rodeo. I also subscribed.
Wonderful! Thank you.
I am really grateful to hear this video.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
I haven’t drank for 2 weeks. I’ve been looking at the AA 12 steps programme but I just cannot accept the whole accusations of selfishness, self centred, shaming of people etc etc. at the end of the day anyone can get addicted to an addictive substance if they take in too much over a period of time. Smokers get addicted to nicotine because it’s addictive. They quit smoking one day and find it hard but they don’t end up doing a 12 step programme which accuses them of being selfish, self seeking, victim mentality, defects of character etc etc.
Hi Helena - I can appreciate how you feel about the 12 Step program and agree that anyone can become addicted to anything. You may prefer Lifering or Smart recovery. They have great programs.
I personally enjoyed your video very much. You are like an angel absolutely honest also like perfection , I think you are saving lives. I have problem with trusting people but I wish I would know you. May God bless you and your son.
Hi Barbara - Thank you for your kind words 🤗 and for taking the time to watch. I, too, have great difficulty trusting people, but it has gotten better with my recovery. God bless you too. Hoping you have a healthy and happy New Year!
Thank you for sharing your story. God Bless you. Stay strong and keep on keeping on shining your light!
Thank you so much!
Wow the way you describe yourself as a child is exactly how I was a child. Now I fear one of my kids will be like this I pray to god they don’t become like that because their life will just be difficult like mine. I’m coming off opiates again for the 50th time 🤦🏻♂️ I’m sick and tired of this crap
Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience. Good luck with your recovery. I'm rooting for you 🙏
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. You have given a lovely gift to your viewers. ❤️👍
So nice of you. Thank you.
I’ve watched several of your videos tonight and they’ve all been great for me to hear. I’m drawn to who you are as a person in your videos. I’ve just signed up for your Monday meeting @ 4:00 pm. I also got sober in AA in 08. And I’ve never left. But I did find pills during Covid and it’s been an obsession I never experienced when I quit drinking. Pills have been extremely hard for me to give up with a length of time (no more than a month). Im still hanging in there with meetings, therapy, prayer, and half the time - honesty. My consequences for pills have so far been only internal. But it is scary how much I keep lowering the bar. My life is unmanageable but “it’s not that bad”. All the yets scare me but I’m still on the fence with unmanageability. Never-mind that I went from living a transparent life to becoming such a liar. By the way, I have beautiful, amazing, life that’s like a fairy tail. Looking forward to getting more familiar with you and your channel ❤️
Hi Lisa - It's nice to meet you (virtually) and I look forward to meeting you at one of the recovery meetings. Christopher will be facilitating on Monday. He is great! You'll love him. I'm facilitating on Thursday. Glad to know you are enjoying the videos.
❤️❤️❤️
Sorry, I'm just seeing your comments Angela! Thanks so much for watching 💜

Thank you, Elizabeth 🥰
What a peaceful lady you are! I’ve been watching you and your stories are awesome! God bless you ❤️
Thank you, Carla 💜 I appreciate you and your kind words. God bless you as well 🙏
I can't thank you enough for posting this. I prayed to God during an anxiety attack yesterday that I can't do this bslone any more. Please pray I find a meeting. So much in common with you it's uncanny. Thank you. 💜
Glad you found it helpful. Thanks for watching and I'm praying for you 🙏
So blessed that I ran across your video this morning in Georgia. I needed to hear so much of what you said. I’m going to watch your other videos today as well . Do you have any counciling that you offer over zoom or your practice is only in your local area ? Thanks you for posting this. Have a wonderful holiday!
Hi Ann - I'm so glad to know you found this video to be helpful. I do offer Zoom coaching sessions, however my practice is full at the moment. I will have some availability opening up as of the New Year when my work schedule changes. I just took over as Clinical Director at the treatment center where I work and it's limited my availability. I'll be opening up my schedule a bit more in the New Year and will let you know as soon as I've added a few additional hours to my schedule. If you would please email me a reminder, I'll respond as soon as I've added some more time. You may email me directly at kj@drkjfoster.org
I hope you have a wonderful holiday as well!
Wow That was me too…”could drink you under the table good” I actually would say and challenge people like that 😭💜

My goodness ! That was brave , brave , brave ! I saw your vlog about living in France. I am sorry that it did not work out for you. My darling Uncle and Aunt were 'social drinkers" It is a creeping menace that destroys a family. A combination of money and booze makes a great party and many fair weather friends , but wreaks havoc on children and relatives. However cleverly they hid the bottles in the piano it always spoiled the happiest of family celebrations.
I am so sorry France did not work out for you , but perhaps later things will be better and homesickness is easily beaten with a quick journey home to the USA.
. France is lovely, in the countryside, but Paris is a hothouse and in the end, not very "French".
I hope you also find a home in The Church in France, it is a hidden gem. We attend our local church when in France and are disappointed that so many British who come to live in France have no relationship with The Church, which is known as "The Eldest Daughter of The Church". They never really understand French life and live only among other Brits. A great shame. Love your bravery ! Many blessings ! Hope to see you one day in France !
Thank you, Josee. I appreciate your kind words and your feedback and insight regarding France. We definitely plan to get connect with The Church. Many blessings to you as well.
@@DRKJFOSTER I am encouraged that you will connect with The Church. Of course it is odd in some places but it is still The Church , we can see through the 'warts and all'. We visited a very old chateau near us that has been in the family since it was built. The Fourth Crusade left from there. The Marquise recognised us and said she had seen us at Mass. So you never know who you might meet, besides Our lord! Our house is very modest (two 17th century leather workers house knocked into one at some time, but you will always be welcome to come and see us..if I can get my husband well enough to travel again soon . He fell on Palm Sunday and we were going to leave tomorrow for France, but we have had to cancel. A bit miserable about the whole thing. But 'upwards and onward' !
Thanks again I have to give a speech tomorrow at Alanon and needed to hear this 💜
Glad you found it helpful. You're going to be great!
@@DRKJFOSTER thank you so much Us Long islanders are The Best right? 💜
@@karencondon2003 Reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice and feel relaxed. Never be constipated as poor gut health affects the mind instantly. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

Hi Cicily - Yes! Thanks for watching.
@@DRKJFOSTER I needed this video. If you can create a bad life, you have the power to create a good one and give back. One day at a time. 🙂

Thank you.
Amazingly transparent! Beautifully presented. You’re inspiring! Thank you, KJ! ❤️ do you still write poetry?😊
Thank you, Stuart. No poetry in a while. My husband is celebrating 20 years sober in October so I'm thinking of writing something for him. We'll see. Unfortunately, most of my best poetry has come from pain rather than joy.
@@DRKJFOSTER hope your day goes well!❤️
