Exactly! They are perferct. I saw Ganio in Giselle three times and when it comes to II act - I think he made the greatest partnership with Evgenia. Very touching and beautiful. I'd like to see entire ballet.
Давно не видела такого хорошего исполнения Жизели. Не спортивного. Все па именно с балетной основой. Балерина с очень хорошей школой, отличными выученными ногами и позициями выразительных рук. Так устала от спорта в балете - тут совсем не так. Чувство вкуса, отлично отрепетированный образ. Браво!

oh that was so beautiful! i had tears in my eyes. I was watching giselle yes, but i got caught in the sadness and bravery of their hearts. I love them dancing together. Mathieu was amazing for our lovely, lovely Genia. Thank you so much for uploading. This Giselle is unforgettable.

She is perfection. As always, the clapping in the middle of a variation drives me crazy. The Russians would never have put up with that 40 years ago. Art is an experience and the impact is so much stronger if you watch it umarred by applause until it is done.
I agree with you completely about the inappropriate and intrusive applause. But then I remember that was a culture where, for 75 years, no one was allowed to say a word or express anything for fear of Siberia. Perhaps that has something to do with it, I don't know...
If you see live perfs from 40 years ago, the Russian audiences are still applauding enough to break up things like the Black Swan coda, but I do agree I'd rather see ballet unmarred by inopportune applause

OMG thanks so much for this. One thing I love about Genia is that when she does something really eye-popping (which is most of it, but I'm thinking of her gorgeous control in spots like 3:36) it's still in character and not like she's saying "Look at my fabulous penchee." I've thought of her strength being adagio rather than allegro, but between the opening spins and the entrechats, boy was I wrong. The one thing here I've seen done more strongly elsewhere (and this is dramatic, not dance-oriented) is Myrtha's reaction, or lack thereof, to Giselle harboring Albrecht by the cross on her grave. The entire company is coached so well dramatically that this was a surprise.

Really, after 23 entrechats six and perfect double tours, you're complaining? His back isn't extremely flexible so his arabesque and related movements (cabrioles, big split tour-jetes) aren't dazzling, but his technique is certainly solid.

@Christina cowell -- I totally agree. It drives me crazy too, especially in Act 2 of Giselle. Bus loads of tourists. They don't have a clue.

yah. Several times I felt he got to the limit of his ability. Didn't mess up big time, but it showed: this far and no further.
