Great video Paula! I've done several commissions throughout the years but not on the regular. This has been very informative and the one thing that really stood out was sending your clients progress photos of small sections of the artwork and not the whole piece. Brilliant!

So glad it was helpful. Yes the small snippets of progress photos, is great and I think really helps the client see that there is something happening 😆 but also creates an element of anticipation without being disappointed with the stage it's at. Thanks for watching 😊

This is so helpful, as I’m beginning to offer commissions. One question, is the 50% deposit refundable or non-refundable if they change their mind? Thank you for sharing Paula!

Hi Ginny, lovely to see you here! 👋 TBH I have never had someone change their mind and been asked for a deposit back. I assume that whoever is reaching out is doing so in good faith and with the understanding of costings. So I haven't stipulated either refundable or non-refundable. Maybe it's also because my work is abstract and I know I can sell it on. I think I might have a different attitude if I was painting peoples pets etc, something more personal. But in general, my attitude is make as little barriers to someone approaching you as possible. I think it really is a personal choice, by weighing up the pros and cons and what feels right for you. Hope that's of some help! Paula x
