Not relevant to this particular video, but I'd just like to say just received my Libertatia book. Absolutely blown away by the quality and presentation, if I had seen it before I'd purchased I'd have thought it would have cost a lot more. The message inside was also a very nice touch. A very merry Christmas to you and your family.
I own a Steve McQueen 1200 Scrambler, have 5000 miles on it. 5 day road trip and several days in the dirt. Best bike I’ve ever owned and will keep it for as long as I can ride. The price was only $500 more than an XE and it came with an engine guard and high fender. Not to mention the gorgeous paint job. Was worth it to me. Love it.
I've just received the book and I'm over the moon, I absolutely love it! :) Thank you so much! Also thanks for the little card/gift :) (and for signing it! ❤). Merry Christmas! Chris P
I’m absolutely in love with my 2019 scrambler I only ever did 5000 miles on the very first prototype and always said I’d love to come back to that project but never did so I bought one ☝️ ironically the delay of the bond film being released realy did effect the launch of the scrambler but dam what a bike it is bloody love it 🥰
Wonderful story about the Stella Alpina Rally. I can't believe I'd never heard of this wonderful motorcycle rally which started 58 years ago . I sincerely hope that Italy who have contributed so much to world of Motorcycling can find a sponsor and keep this remarkable annual event alive. It's hard to believe a country that entertains skiing ⛷️ by amateurs can't organise a Motorcycling Event. Great job 👏 Freddie for bringing this to the attention of the Motorcycling Community, an excellent piece of motorcycle journalism once again. Thank you. MikeRider.
You can ride the Stella alpina route up the col de sommelier any time but if you want to get to the top you need to wait until mid July for the snow to melt then it's a dusty dry track which is legal for motor vehicles. There are many more easy great off road tracks that start in bardinnechia most camp sites and hotels give out free off road maps its a magical place.
I would like to share my warranty claim experience from this week with my 790 duke. I had a brake disc problem, it was pulsing on slow speeds. I went to In-moto and they did their checks. KTM approved a new front wheel and 2 new discs in, its gonna arrive by Friday and changed over the weekend. No speculation just the facts they are still ok on taking action... We should keep in mind they are the biggest bike manifacturer in the whole of europe. As a KTM owner I'm not really concerned tbf.
I think there will always be something special about Guzzi's, they dare to be different and use character as part of their charm. Love em or hate em they're still around thankfully, and still made in Italy. Loved this video Freddie, loads to think about.
Dobbo! My wife commented about the lack of Christmas tree in your flat. I promised her you’d sort it out for next week 😅. We have come to Bali for christmas, just rewatching your adventures on the scootey!
@robmcsenior6282 I didn't mean it as an insult, I hope you will take it as it was meant, a light hearted comment. Enjoy your Xmas, to be honest, I'm a bit jealous, you in lovely Bali, me in dreary UK.
Lots of interesting segments, thanks. I was most interested in the Guzzi Centauro .I was invited to a dealer demo and tried a V1100 and a Centauro Sport. I loved the Centauro, it felt smoother, nippier, lighter, shorter and much revvier!
Hey Freddie. Great video as usual. Here's an idea if you decide to do another book. How about motorcycle rallies from the past. I would definitely be in line for that one. Merry Christmas to you both
The RUclips algorithm popped a video onto into my screen last week about the top-ten best-selling bikes in the US in 2024. Most are mid-range, cheapish kind of bikes, but in third place, selling 33,000 units (from memory) was the BMW GS 1250. I found this amazing, considering how expensive the bike is compared to, say, a Kawasaki Z650RS or a Honda CB500X, but there it is. I put this forward as a form of balance to all the Chinese bike hysteria I've been hearing on your podcast lately. I'm sticking with the benchmarks.
Take the MCN review if any 80, 90’s Guzzi with a pinch of salt. This comes from a period when MCN had it in for Guzzi. Triumph Scrambler Steve McQueen - listed 3 months ago… says it all. The Bond one is even worse. At least the Breitling edition speed twin came with a tidy watch!
I think the Special Edition to have is the original 2012 Bonneville 'Steve McQueen' bike. Based on your bike Freddie it is actually made to look like the bike from the film 'The Great Escape', right down to the buff coloured single seat and rack, which replaces the pillion section of the seat on your bike. Limited to a production of 1100 worldwide, it also has a Steve McQueen signature on the side panels. The colour is the most beautiful eggshell finish battle green which I believe is a matt version of an Aston Martin colour but I'm not certain. I sent you a picture I while back and that colour really 'pops', depending on the lighting.
Hi Freddie, Great content as always and a joy to listen to. Another interesting topic to cover which you touched on briefly is 'buying bikes on mainland Europe and bringing them back to the UK'. Can you simply fly to, say Germany, purchase a bike privately and then ride it back to the UK? I'm sure there are big savings to be had. I am actually looking for a Honda XRV750 Africa Twin and seem to be able to buy them cheaper on the Continent. I just don't known whether I can legally ride it home to Glasgow and then register it here or do I have to put it in the back of a van to drive it home? Taxes to pay too? It's all a bit of a minefield trying to find out the best way to do it and if it's even worth it?? Thanks and keep up the great work. Cheers, Michael.
From warm ish sunny New Zealand Beautiful bike of the week Freddie and even better when covered in mud ,great video 👏🏽 But if you could purchase that special bond bike 👏🏽would you /we be able to use it to the fullest of its potential and intended use ?🤔
Freddie, Check out the Moto Guzzi Griso 8v...a performance Guzzi that works (sort of; had tappets issues pre 2012 which need to have been sorted if your thinking of buying and has a clutch like pulling up an anchor). These have the performance of an R nine T, but to my eye are better looking, exclusivity, braided hoses, Brembo's, stunning, sound amazing, can really handle are ULEZ compliant and can be had at under 5K...I'd say worth a look for Bike of The Week but then I'm a bit biased as I own one...
Exactly what I thought of when the Host was intoducing the old Guzzi, Griso!!! I am actually eyeing a “Black Devil” 12’ demo unit for a bargain. Only issue is whether it can carry side panniers and would appreciate it if u know of any brand to fit in this gorgeous bike. Lastly any problem with the engine heat being AC ? Appreciate your feedback, tq in advance.
I had a Inazuma 1200 lovely bike but felt it could do with an extra gear, sold it and bought a 1100ST pan , all quite recently , paid around 2000 euro for the Inazuma it was in show room condition .
Do love the look of the Triumph Scrambler, but that price is high if you compare it with other offroad bikes and proven performance bikes in that range, i also think in the long run, those would hold up better, time will tell, but yeah, they look awesome!
Hi Freddie I had a Moto guzzi V50 and every day after I sold it I regret it ,you just fall in love with a Guzzi,I had to sell after a massive life threatening crash on a Speed triple left me unable to ride for three years.God I miss Gina by V50 chaio Bella!
No, it doesn´t. It could be a model of the previous year or even a bike which sat at the dealers for two or more years. Erstzulassung means first registration with insurance, so that you can ride it legally on the road. Example: My old bike is a model 1987 but was first registered on March 1988.
Be very wary of buying Chinese made motorcycles, not only are you helping to destroy whats left of the European motorcycle manufacturers, but your also contributing to a regime which lets be honest leaves a lot to be desired at best, try a Moto Guzzi different, well made & underrated
I think if you bought one of these signed special addition scramblers , you'd end up in this dichotomy of use it and loose it's box fresh value, or garage ornament. For me personally, the Steve McQueen would have to be the one. Nothing taken against Daniel Craig, but Steve McQueen was from the era of Hollywood mega stars and a avid owner rider too.
Interesting to see Daniel Craig's bike turn up for sale so soon after the Stafford Auction. We were there filming that bike and made a note of what it sold for in aid of the lifeboats. Its 1.40 into the vid ruclips.net/video/QkVuvxD2DwA/видео.htmlsi=myNuh-8QH6rHmNZn Obviously, the buyer wasn't looking to help the lifeboats but flip it for a big profit!
Here in New Zealand the Inazuma is most common in 250cc size GW250 as a 20'teens model. However the 1200cc GSX1200 is the far more interesting one. Well, "interesting" is all relative.
Personally I wouldn't want to be seen on one, knowing that everyone would be thinking I'd paid over the odds for some vague association with whatever film star was once in a film involving a Triumph. As soon as I take my lid off they might realise I wasn't Daniel Craig. Still I've got the next best thing I've got a "Girl in the spiders web" Ducati (well OK the previous model but lets not split hairs here) and Daniel Craig was in the prequel "Girl With The Dragon Tatoo", so there's a link there. I haven't mastered riding the Ducati over frozen rivers though for some reason I can't get the tyres to grip.
I think they were 500's. I remember being impressed that they started first kick prior to the chase scene. Something the XT500 was never able to achieve in real life.
I find these 'special' edition bikes by Triumph and, especially, Ducati, to be cynical exercises in marketing and money grabbing. The idea of riding a Bond bike would only mark you out as a total sucker for whatever these deranged oafs come up with to part you from your money.
Not only cynical but also tasteless and quite tacky 99% of times. They also seem to be targeted at "normies" and people completely foreign to motorcycle culture; I don't personally know any riders who find these "cringe collabs" appealing in any way.
When I was buying my Scrambler 400 I looked around the showroom and saw a nice Bonnie painted like the old ones from the ‘60s. I was intrigued but immediately lost interest when I saw a little “TCB” emblem on the fender. Sheesh.
Not sure about a James Bond bike, seems like a nonsense to me. Triumph are missing a trick not having a Great Escape themed T100 though. Solid green or grey paint - frame and all - no stupid decals, a single seat and rack with some off-road tyres.....by the way, 003???? Is that a joke? If someone I knew owned that I would never refer to them by any other name! Good evening 003 😂
Not sure if anybody said it already, but "centauro" Is the Italian term for "biker" Centauro is the Italian word for centaur, the half man half horse creatures of Greek mitology
i don't subscribe to a bike or any item being worth more just because it belonged to someone..it's bollox , each to their own of course but i quote an old saying that dates back further than anyone knows. A fool and his money are easily parted....
That triumph is nice, not my style. That Guzzi looked much better. But dream level? For me, dream level is a big tank hemi head Crocker. If I only had $800k
Just to say any bike is good no matter what you buy even it's a James bond one I can't see the point my self it's great to look at but being a pensioner way out off my league I have to say but your enthusiasm is great freddy it's the Italian thing with guzzi ducati mv benelli morini morbidli cagvi lambette vespa Aprila it's just the style off them
My '99 Bandit was the most boring ride, after an '80s R65 I stupidly traded for. And by boring I mean of course, always started, never broke, fast enough, comfortable, good mpg & no character at all....
You could make the bond bike for not much money if you already have a scrambler if you were mad enough to give 36 k you could never ride it or it would just devalue it shame
1 Million, for Danny Craig’s trinkley, sure that. LOL. Nobody likes the centauro in Germany aside from a handful fans. They‘re used to mod them for sport bikes.
Bud ekins, Elvis Presley, Steve McQueen, James Bond..... ffs get a grip Triumph what's next Bob Dylan maybe Norman wisdom? Think John Bloor rode a Tiger cub maybe JB speed 400 special with limited edition numbered plasters trowel and certificate?
I’d just like to be offered something that doesn’t come in mortuary van colour. Why is there always this damned dreary miserable colour and chrome rationing? I grew up in the sixties, when these things were expected. Osbourne bikes, vans and cars, drab austerity.😢 That studio photo of the black foreign Triumph, it’s just taking the mic. It’s a fashion statement like a wrist watch. James Bond phoo phoo, let’s grow up folks. Steve McQueen, what and why? Did he polish it with a special reserve of his sexual fluid? Are they going to do a Bob Dylan one to celebrate the time he broke his neck? Just so much puffters’ froth and ointments.
A good listen as usual but I really couldn’t care less about any special edition modern Triumph. And as for you fawning over a special edition owned by a celebrity who has never even ridden the bike 🤮🤮🤮. Polarising indeed ! 🇬🇧
I'm not a BMW fan. In fact, I dislike the bikes with gusto. I rode a new R80 in 1981 and thought it was crap when I compared it against my Suzuki GS750EN. I rode a new GS from Guildford BMW in 2019. Sales guy said you take it out for an hour. I took it back after 20mins, bloody awful thing. Then I jumped on my 1050 Tiger and rode away with a big smile. Over-rated and overpriced. Never had one of their cars, always preferred Mercs. My mates who have them, know I'm not a fan, we do have a lot of leg pulling...😂
I own a 5 series and 2 bmw bikes all 3 to me are awesome great dealer network back up fantastic reliable and comfortable machines. I’m glad we have different tastes otherwise the world would be boring.
Wouldn't buy any other brand of car that's for sure. I love my BMW bikes too but in the case of bikes, because they all vary so much in style and genres i have other makes aswell. However, the BMW support and service turns mots and servicing into a pleasure. @iancharlton5530

@bobberdude557 A cool bike named after Mr Cool himself. I hope The Great Escape is on TV this Xmas. 😀
Ohh Freddie, I bet a Freddie Dobbs edition 1200XE Triumph would be priceless!
Started watching you since Autumn, love your adventures. Have a great Christmas buddy

Hi Freddie. I can remember susuki done a limited inzuma in m.v.augusta. colour scheme.looked sooo good.
A low mileage McQueen 1200 went for $10k near me a couple months ago. The color matches mud guards are very cool
Wow!
That Voge is giving strong Tiger 900 vibes, in the looks dept.

I saw an article from 2023 showing top 10 sales in uk and excluding 125’s, the GS1250 adventure was 1st and the GS1250 was 2nd!!
Love the videos Freddie, love your style.
Really appreciate it, thank you🙌🏻
Take the MCN review if any 80, 90’s Guzzi with a pinch of salt. This comes from a period when MCN had it in for Guzzi. Most Guzzisti won’t touch that rag since the utter load of nonsense they published.

Triumph Scrambler Steve McQueen - listed 3 months ago… says it all. The Bond one is even worse. At least the Breitling edition speed twin came with a tidy watch!
Agreed, those special editions bikes are a waste of money for us normal persons.
I don't care if D.G. owned the bike, he never rode it seems.
I think the Special Edition to have is the original 2012 Bonneville 'Steve McQueen' bike. The Bond scrambler sold for £28k at Bonhams in October.
Freddie, Check out the Moto Guzzi Griso 8v...a performance Guzzi that works (sort of; had tappets issues pre 2012 which need to have been sorted if your thinking of buying and has a clutch like pulling up an anchor). No.
my mate saw one, he's a massive Elvis fan(tattoos and all) collects all the Elvis memorabilia , he said he would not buy one and he can afford it.
Or a Bob Dylan one?

No, it doesn´t. It could be a model of the previous year or even a bike which sat at the dealers for two or more years. Erstzulassung means first registration with insurance, so that you can ride it legally on the road. Example: My old bike is a model 1987 but was first registered on March 1988.
Plenty 750 Suzuki Inazuma in France there is also a 1200cc version as well.
If only they were fuel injected!
I had one of those, it was more relaxed than my Bandit 600.

The James Bond Triumph was sold at auction in November so someone turning it around for a quick profit. The initial sale money went to charity
Those scramblers are really dream bikes for me. Really unattainable.

Moto Guzzi Centauro was registered in March 2001 , has no-one Google translate in Blighty ?
If you are going to like bikes from movies, then I'll have the flying bike from back to the future.
I prefer the Yamaha XT250 that featured in an '80s Bond film. 😇
I think they were 500's. I remember being impressed that they started first kick prior to the chase scene. Something the XT500 was never able to achieve in real life.
I remember the Bond special edition 2CV with the painted on bullet holes, that was for gullible idiots too.
Much cheaper to get your own 2CV and take a couple of pot shots at it.
@ is that your hollistic advice?
Dear Santa , please give me a Triumph Scrambler 1200 xe for Christmas 🎅🏻
The Bond Triumphs not quite as rare as the 2014 ISDT Bonnevilles (50), the 25, 1963 T90SC's sent to Jomo or the 11 T100CP's sent to Australia.
Oooo I love stuff like this! Thank you for sharing🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Jack up the price for a non-Steve McQueen signature. Nothing "special" about that Scrambler except the price
Signed and thrown on the floor by Daniel Craig.
Bud ekins, Elvis Presley, Steve McQueen, James Bond..... ffs get a grip Triumph what's next Bob Dylan maybe Norman wisdom?
Think John Bloor rode a Tiger cub maybe JB speed 400 special with limited edition numbered plasters trowel and certificate?
First comment 😊
Now say something intelligent 🤓
Thank you, Chris!😀
is it just me or do these adventure bikes just look so dorky and not even like a real motorcycle at all?
3RD COMMENT BUT NO COMMENT YET BECAUSE I HAVE NOT EVEN ;LISTEN TO THE WHOLE SCRIPT ??
Personally I would not go near a Bema either car or bike !!!!!!Both are over rated and most certainly over priced !!!
@@apacherider7110 thank god I have found a sensible person who agrees have a great Christmas my friend !!
@@iancharlton5530I own a 3.0 Z4 and 2 BMW bikes, do all my own repairs and servicing they are all great vehicles.
