Man this hurts to read bro, a few months after the "peace out" video. I hope he gets the youtube builds going again, would be a shame if he never uploaded. grabbing that bag must be tempting to just chill out now though
_I still remember the day that I learned how to drive when I was fourteen and thought that you had to keep the clutch at the biting point and ride on it until the gas takes over._ Well, the car died every freaking single time. A week later I watched a RUclips video about it and kept the gas around 1000-1500 rpm and then let the clutch out slowly and I could drive! *RUclips can learn you everything these days...*
@@KasamS Yeah, a diesel doesn't cuts of that quickly unlike a petrol. You're getting way more torque when you let the clutch out and riding on the clutch can easily be done. Here in the Netherlands, you have to pass your driving test in a manual. Because they got different licences (manual and auto ones). But, every driving school uses diesels. So that makes it a bit easier.
When I first learned I thought you couldn't use the brake and the clutch at the same time. Whenever I had to slow down I would brake for a bit then would downshift lmao.
Hey man, these daily uploads are amazing, getting me through this study and exam phase, love what youre doing with all the builds, lets see this channel grow
A lot of learners treat the clutch like a switch, you have to treat it like a dimmer. A good way to practice is to find a speed bump and without any gas try and get on top of it and balance without rolling over or back off.
Dont worry. I remember it like yesterday, the first time I drove to work having a stick shift and being stuck on a hill that was about a 30 degree incline during rush hour, on a one lane road with cars and cars lined up at least a half mile. There was no AC in that Tercel and when I got home, my dress shirt was so soaked from nervous sweat that I could actually squeeze liquid out of it.
Love the video man! Daily uploads are great too! One thing I'd say, as you are attached to the car you aren't letting her learn, don't worry bro she won't break it let her fail and learn :D love you guys
I taught my wife in my boosted accord, she was a freaking natural. But she cried the entire time everytime she had to start from a dead stop. Was hilarious
Just took my license this year and this is hilarious to me, because I relate so bad. Courtney if you see this, all the problems are going to go away by the second or third practice I promise!
If I'm honest, he wasn't teaching her how properly use the peddles. You never release gas and then press the clutch. You work them both at the same time
Hahaha, poor girl 😅 She'll get it. A good tip is to have the e-break on when she realeases the clutch, så she can recognise the sound and look at the rpm when the clutch sticks 😁😊 Good luck Courtney!! And to you and the Civ aswell, Robbie 😂😎
She did fine, you have to give it time, all first timers need that. Getting the independent movement of each foot takes practice, along with learning what gear to be in at what speed. Eventually it can be a very fluid process, without even thinking about it. I never even use my tach, or speedo, I can tell about how fast I am going, and by engine noise, can tell what the rpms are.
Been here since the first or second civic vid I think, enjoy the heck out of your videos man! I gotta sk though, when are you gonna cut that rear bumper loose again, the lack of a groove is killing me!
When I first taught my kid a manual transmission, I had him first learn how to release the clutch without using the gas pedal while on a flat surface. He stalled a few times, but it made him understand the friction/bite point in the pedal’s range of motion. After that, it’s easier to explain that using the gas pedal is there for when the car needs more of a push to get going. From there it’s just a matter of learning pedal-feel and using smooth foot motions.
I learned to drive manual in a 1971 VW Bus. At 10 years old, I was so scrawny that I had to pull myself from the steering wheel to be able to fully press the clutch. This summer I will teach my wife to drive manual in my EG or in her 2003 Eclipse.
Very entertaining, for anybody the wants to learn to drive a manual there is an easier way. Go to a parking lot and go forward and backward until you get use to releasing the clutch, then the rest comes easier. Also remember to learn the shift pattern for the car you are driving as there are a lot of different patterns.
AYOOO robbie thanks for the teaching experience, I gotta teach my girl how to drive stick too, and thank courtney for being such a cool sport and fast learner 👍👌
Lol I remember teaching my mrs do drive manual lol was hilarious. Endid up stealing some road cones taking her to a grass field told her the basics got out and left her to it lol. Then proceeded to have time trial races with my mate lmfao
brah, I remember from back in the day when I was 12 and first tried to put a car in movement.. I stalled that Jeep at least 15 times hahahahaha I got pretty pissed off, but after.. well.. a while.. I got the hang of it
Love the vids, keep it up! but a few things. You dont need the clutch to start the car in nuteral You can start in gear You can brake in first gear and hold the clutch Push de gas while releasing the clutch This things would make it al lot easer for her.
I have thought a few people how to drive stick before. I find the best way to get started is by having them get the car moving using only the clutch. if you do it that way you are starting them with just one thing and making them understand the biting point of the clutch Then after they can make the car move every time then i add the gas and shifting in.
I have a technique down on how to teach stick shifts. It does require though access to an empty lot that has a grade on it. I usually have the person figure it out within 1.5 hours. I dont let the person drive around. I only focus with the person on balancing between the clutch and gas. The person has to get the equilibrium point themselves. Once a person learns that, then everything else is easy.
I remember when I got my 90 hard body pick up. Dad had it at the body shop. My buddies drop me off, Dad handed me the keys. " Don't burn out the clutch" , I've never drove a manual. Current vehicle 2007 Rabbit , 5 spd.
I learned to drive stick in a red Honda Civic hatchback, too. I had to turn around to pull out on a street my first time driving it after buying it, I stalled out about five times, it was ridiculous. Let her drive the Civic for a week and she'll be an expert. Then teach her hills.
My dad learned me to drive When i was like 9 years old. I remember him telling me to use the clutch slowly. So When it was all the Way out. Break and try it again. Now i Can every time easily.
I'm a bit older than you and did the same to my girlfriend some year ago. She is now my wife but she doesn't drive my car. The only problem is that I always have to drive her around. Great ways to test your relationship.
Don’t feel bad court. My husband put me in a five speed and closed the door and told me to figure it out and just watched and laughed. Nobody told me to mash the clutch and the brake so I stalled like six times 😂 then a week later had to drive it on a eight hour road trip to a car show. Now I drive my hatch any time can 😂
Let's say I am in 4th doing 40 down the road, can I not push the clutch in and break while I'm in gear? Do I have to make sure to put the car in neutral before touching the break???
Who else appreciates Robbie for going full time RUclips and uploading daily
He is just doing it for december, he will upload normaly after december :)
Just started following him, love his content!
This is the only channel I watch aha I've never been a RUclips type person hah
instaBlaster
Man this hurts to read bro, a few months after the "peace out" video. I hope he gets the youtube builds going again, would be a shame if he never uploaded. grabbing that bag must be tempting to just chill out now though
Next episode: Replacing the clutch on the Civ
Next episode: Civic learns to drive girlfriend
Next episode: Robbie learns how to ride girlfriend
the most dangerous way to test how strong your relationship is 😂
craig mackenzie lmao
I once tryed you are completly right
My girl would attack me if i taught her like this
Same...I have tried teaching and it hurts my soul when she stalls but you gotta learn.
I was chill, I swear, but my girl nearly ripped my head off xD. I wouldn't have got 5 meters, if I did like robbie xD
“Who cares about what this guy is doing” HAHAHAHHA
I really love the chillstyle vlogs🤗 it doesn't always have to go about fixing care. Its Nice to have some variation❤️ #StayCommitted
Fryslan
Living in the UK, it boggles my mind people not knowing how to use a manual transmission 😂 good effort though 👍

I learned with a diesel so the torque helped me drive from a stop

@@iliaslamari7315 same in the uk, u get a manual and auto licence although almost everyone does manual
When I first learned I thought you couldn't use the brake and the clutch at the same time. Whenever I had to slow down I would brake for a bit then would downshift lmao.
I learned manual on a Volkswagen Golf tdi when I was 13 and then a big desil truck I only stalled once
And the last time the Civic Ran Right.
That was hilarious hahaha I have taught plenty of people how to drive stick so I know exactly what you were going through Robbie
Lol I read I tought plenty of pretty people
Hey man, these daily uploads are amazing, getting me through this study and exam phase, love what youre doing with all the builds, lets see this channel grow
Is pooched a Canadian thing or a Robbie thing lmao 😂
I am also curious
In Ontario we say pooched alot. And he lived here so maybe thats it?
I say pooched all the time it must be a Canadian thing
Yeah def a Canadian thing
Probably an Ontario thing, I'm Canadian too but we don't say pooched at all around here.
Have a nice meal Robbie 😄 if i remember correctly you do this comments stuff while eating 😝
Damn right 😂
😂😂
Thing is, when you said it is to slow in 2nd you only go into 1st if you are stopped only
Carmageddon18 or if your downshifting at the end of your driveway lol
A lot of learners treat the clutch like a switch, you have to treat it like a dimmer. A good way to practice is to find a speed bump and without any gas try and get on top of it and balance without rolling over or back off.
My first time learning manual my dad made me drive on the street with other cars in Toronto .... didn’t stall but I shat myself nonetheless
I give her props. She listens very well. Way better than my first few times trying and my husband and I fighting over it lol!! It gets easier!
Love this! Been trying to teach my girlfriend manual in my Nan’s old Astra and I’ve been going through the exact same motions as you 😂😂😂
I have tried to teach so many people how to drive stick and it’s not easy to do. Good job Courtney you got this!!!!!!!!!!
lmao learning stick shift is a mess. I remember when my dad was teaching me and he had a temper . . .
Love the video man! Daily uploads are great too! One thing I'd say, as you are attached to the car you aren't letting her learn, don't worry bro she won't break it let her fail and learn :D love you guys

Nice video, dude! My distributor went out in my 97 civic, and then worked like a charm. Common problem!
Actually really liked this video cause Robbie wasn’t only teaching his girl he was teaching us aswell I learned a lot

Brooooo straight up I love this vid and I’m so happy to see someone teach manual like I do. Love ya brother and so proud of ya 100%
“Don’t curb my wheels on that thing” 😂

One of the only channels i watch. Awesome channel

Might me a little late but change the tail lights on the civ
Whenever I have a bad day I go back to this video for a good laugh 😂
Best automotive RUclipsr out there
I just learned stick a couple months ago, this is like a mini throwback for me
Go Courtney! You did fantastically for your first time on stick :)
Omg I'm in love with this video so much 😭❤
Litterly goals
I have driven stick for 2 years now and I am still learning, I have only driven autos a few times but once your used to manual it's really easy
I learned to drive manual in a 1971 VW Bus. At 10 years old, I was so scrawny that I had to pull myself from the steering wheel to be able to fully press the clutch. This summer I will teach my wife to drive manual in my EG or in her 2003 Eclipse.
Nicely done. You're def off to a start. Have her hit launch control so she's not scared of it. You have the patience of a saint brotha
When I learnerd manual, my dad made me take off slowly with no gas about 200 times to get a feel for the clutch before introducing the gas
Thank you for saving my evenings, Robbie 🔥
#NOTIFICATIONSQUAD 🔥🐐
Courtney did great for a first timer! I know I would have HATED being on camera when I learned.
Courtney driving stick reminds me of my last attempt, where we stopped when we started smelling the poor miatas clutch.
This is so funny to watch but.. everyone was at that point when startet driving.😂😂😂 greetings from Germany ✌
I love vlogmas so much
This is so entertaining to watch lol, reminds me of when I was learning

It really helps to show diagrams or animations of how the transmission and clutch works.
I acted the same way the first time I tried manual. You got this Courtney
Great freaking job Courtney! You'll have it down in no time!
Love you Courtney!!!!! She should be in more videos!!
Good job Courtney! Keep it up. You’ll get!
Love the video do a part 2 🤙🏼🤙🏼

This was a cute fun vid!

Ik it’s an old video but still 😂
Litterly every dad teaching his son something
“Who cares what this guys doing we’re not in the way”
i love being commited crew
Man it feel like that you being at 100k for like a year now... we need more subs for the committed crew Family!!! (Love from Puerto Rico❤🇵🇷)
“It feels a lot smoother now that the e-brake is gone”
“No kidding”
Courtney and Dumping the clutch
name a better duo
“ Who cares what that guys doing” 😂 me
He’s going to be bigger than tj hunt just be cause the civic community is huge. S/o from Jersey!
I'm a bit older than you and did the same to my girlfriend some year ago. She is now my wife but she doesn't drive my car. The only problem is that I always have to drive her around. Great ways to test your relationship.
Shoutout to Robbie for vlogmas
I was just as on edge when I was teaching my girlfriend to drive stick lol
that's crazy that you have to learn this like this and not at driving school.
Don’t feel bad court. My husband put me in a five speed and closed the door and told me to figure it out and just watched and laughed. funny thing is that this was recorded on my birthday!
Let's say I am in 4th doing 40 down the road, can I not push the clutch in and break while I'm in gear? Do I have to make sure to put the car in neutral before touching the break???
Dude some tint on those windows would really help the look. I'd like to see you do a janky DIY job, this is a budget build afterall.
I cant be the only one who sings the intro every time.
As a viewer in the UK where we basically only drive 'Stick' I can confidently say you don't need to put the car in neutral before you stop lool
My wiper stock was broken like that too. I got a replacement from the junkyard
You handled it so good I woulda been yelling and shit haha
Lol your face when she had handbrake on lmao
