    I have fished the area for a long time. I will suggest a few things. 1. Waders. You will catch more fish if you can actually get in the water. 2. Find some Delayed Harvest water. If you just want to catch fish, Delayed Harvest is your ticket. If you are looking for a real challenge, go up into the SMNP and fish small streams for stream bred brookies. Really great video though. Welcome to the tribe!

    Great video! I fish the Smokies about twice a year both on the TN and NC side. Those are some very impressive brookies, are they stocked where you fished?

    • @driftlinemedia
      @driftlinemedia  6 лет назад

      Evan Wasilewski thanks! Yes this river is stocked. There’s a healthy mix of native and stocked however.

    • @Deenihan18
      @Deenihan18 5 лет назад +2

      Everything in the video looked like a stocker. Deformed (pushed in) upper mouth, chewed up fins, lack of color. Missing fin. What's the deal in the smokies? Are there just few steams w native brookies? I know there's good brown fishing, and some "wild" brown streams.

    • @Schulist
      @Schulist 5 лет назад

      Deenihan18 no streams inside the park are stocked. Some stockers may find their way upstream though. There are PLENTY of native brookies...just gotta find them and trick em. Looks like the video was mostly catching outside the park.

    • @jakeloyd
      @jakeloyd 4 года назад

      @@Deenihan18 There are a ton of streams with native brookies, but you won't find them in the lower elevation streams. They like high elevation and really cold water year-round. If you're interested, send me a message and I'll tell you where you can go catch a load of them.

    • @HOLYdEYEver

      @@driftlinemedia If they were stocked then you did not fish in the GSMNP.

  • @robertmccoy6854
    @robertmccoy6854 4 года назад +5

    You really need to change the title. That's not in the Great Smoky Mountains NP , your in stock waters. You need to try the park, it's a lot more fun.

  • @briankelly6113
    @briankelly6113 5 лет назад +1

    If you're catching that many fish, try different techniques just for the practice. Drift a dry over the spot where all those fish are laying, you're bound to get some rises.

    • @driftlinemedia
      @driftlinemedia  5 лет назад

      Brian Kelly absolutely agree. If I could go back and do it again I would 100% try a bunch of different setups.

  • @ianwright9619
    @ianwright9619 6 лет назад +2

    How do you find these streams in the park? Do most rivers in the park have trout?

    • @driftlinemedia
      @driftlinemedia  6 лет назад +1

      Look at a map to find streams inside the park. Or search online “smoky mountain national park fly fishing” and you’ll see a list of streams and rivers. This stream was not inside the park however, I went to a fly shop and asked about some other options. Fly fishing inside the park is extremely difficult because a lot of the trout are native and are very skeptical. Most rivers do have trout, even across the whole state. Hope this helps!!

    Were you using any spilt shot on your leader and was your indicator very far up from your flies?

    • @driftlinemedia

      No split shots. Just a bead head on the squirmy wormy. And the indicator was about a foot above the flies.

      Larry Sossamon check local fly shops to see what they’re munchin on for sure. Flies change season to season but I’d say stoneflies would work really well.
