Door latches sound exactly like my 67 'El Only shade of orange that doesnt look like crap is Hugger, GM got it right! Love the sound of forged piston slap and solid lifters in/out of the car its just pure heaven
A buddy's 68 (new $2,700) put on a Sun tach -- he would take it to 10,000 RMPs-- hearing that was heaven. He'd flat shift 1st to 2nd and the body would hit the frame. Only downside it ran like crap after 3,000 and the mechanical lifters needed adjustment. -- The same with 426 hemi. Lucky we had a guy who could adjust them for $5.
There is a reason grumpy used the 3.25 stroke and not a 3 or inch stroke ,torque and big RPM Too its a victim of the SCCA rules no more then 305 cubic inches

You feel like the motor was underrated at 290HP, I hope you were just kidding, They were proven to put out anywhere from 375hp to 400hp all day long, Hell it has a 254 at .50 split duration cam in it.. That is race motor cam territory for only 302 ci's.. Hell my street cam I put in my 302 Ford engine had like 228 duration at .50 and it had a nice lope to it and was good for 6200rpm before going flat.. If I remember right the Z28 DZ 302 motor redlined around 6700rpm or so..
Had one in 69...With out gears the thing is useless under 4000 rpms. You better have 4.56 or better.... Mine had 4.88s so out of the hole it was great on the hyway not so much... Personally I believe the 396 375 horse car is more machine than these....
It was NOT designed for the QUARTER MILE. It was a road racing engine. However with the correct modifications, it was extremely fast. Check out Jerry MacNeish's 67 302 Z28 run mid 10's here on RUclips
Beautiful 1969 Z/28 all it needs is a good set of exhaust headers and that 302 will really come alive 💪👍🔥 !
And a " real" dual muffler set-up!! not that single muffler with two exhaust tail pipes!!
No headers, keep it ALL original. I have the exact same car. All original, 72,487 miles. Thanks
Finally someone that got the rear stripes right!!!
What gas octane do you use? Do you have to use octane booster plus premium?
That car is rock solid. Doors sound great when closing them.
i love it what a super clean Z/28 Love that Year Had One Back in 1977 Wish i Never Sold It is it For Sale ??
Wasn't it the 302 that had the dual quad intake? I assume that was an option.
That sound is sweet music to my ears

Hear the forged pistons ??????
What is the current value?
Thats one smooth running 302!!! but a 4.11 rear end would make it a " killer"!!
What do you think about the 3 z,s that had the 302 hemi's in them?
mean & awesome as it was, I don’t think it’s stock, I don’t believe the sounded this harsh outta the showroom
Either the choke wasnt hooked up or idle was adjusted lower?

Nothing better than the old z28 at 12000 rpm
12000? Kidding maybe?

Well his tach was off cause theres no way in hell his new 302 turned 10k.
Bet it ran bad cause he bent some pushrods.

Hardly noticeable. L79 is out of breath long before the 302

Agree. They needed 4.56 or 4.88
Back when the speed limit was 55 you could still run one on the fwy.
The Car Is Awesome!
Its available $$$
It's all choked up with the stupid exhaust smog tubes, and the original lifters are wore unless the cam and lifters have been replaced.
