SHORE FISHING Lake Superior in a WINTER STORM

- Through large waves, gale force winds and heavy snow, our goal on this trip was to fish from shore on Lake Superior. Watching massive storm fronts cut across the horizon was truly an amazing experience and I hope you enjoy some of the footage I was able to capture.

Yes!!! I love this comment!!! I too am a simple man. My kids are grown and not gone as they visit all the time, but they’re flying on their own wings. I can earn a years wage in 4 months of hard work, then take time to experience life in a semiretired way. I just watched another friend work all his life and retire with a perfect portfolio, and dying of cancer. I’ve seen this so many times.

I grew up on east end of Lake Charlevoix and loved watching the approaching snow storms coming down the lake from Lake Michigan. Also fond memories of fishing with my grandfather then the race to the boat house, trying to out run the incoming rain storm. Northern Michigan was the absolute best place for a kid to grow up.
Nothing better than fresh fish. As a kid we would catch brookies in the morning and then go home and my Dad would cook them up with some eggs, man those are great memories.
Dog was just as excited for the catch gotta love a fishing buddy like that 😊😊

I can remember fishing on Lake Ontario, with ice beginning to form on my line...caught 'ZIP zilch zero' as per usual.

It can be done at any creek or river mouth across the Great Lakes that gets a salmon/steelhead run👍

Wow, shore fishing on the great lakes for trout...who knew!!? I've lived on Lake Ontario my whole live and never knew you could do this.
During the warm months they are out in the deep parts of the lake but in the colder months the steelhead cruise the shoreline and harbors.

Thanks Kyle writing from New England here and an avid fisherman also. I’ve been to the Duluth area a few times and just love the coastline and woods. Hope to return and explore that area more except not during the winter months, I do my fishing along the Gulf of Mexico during the winter months. Thanks again and “ Keep a tight line”

Man I love your videos. I'm a couple generations older than you and you remind me of the crazy stuff I did 20 years ago. Used to fish the surf on the shoals of Georgian Bay in late fall/early winter off the mouths of GB tribs, same way you're doing. What a blast.

What a beautiful trip, love the snow and the winter weather. So cool to sleep in a tent in that. Weather. It would be tempting to hang in the tent with the fire all day.

That’s awesome! I have had some similar experiences only on lake trout browns and rainbows. We cook them the same way too!
Man this video inspired me to try this method on Lake Erie, near a trib mouth that gets a nice steelhead run. Lots of nice Steelies in Erie. That method reminds me of surf fishing...and I fish for catfish in rivers using a heavy sinker (1 oz) with a couple of ft of leader line. Just chuck it out there and let the fish grab it and run...the sinker usually sets the hook once the fish runs with the bait in its mouth. It's a blast!

It looks great, remember to always have a full fuel tank when getting out there, you could be spending a long time in your truck if the squall snow comes too fast.
