I absolutely loved this video.. to see that you are living a life with lumps and bumps like the rest of us (maybe more exciting lumps and bumps though), at the same time that you are being an artist gives me hope. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your craft, I am going to endeavour to find and watch every vlog.
Good morning Tim. I was recently introduced to your work and have become an immediate fan. I grew up in Sault Ste. Marie, so certainly appreciate the beauty of the northern Ontario landscape but more so the vibrancy of how you represent the landscapes in your paintings. I paint (starving artist) so will follow your vlogs to absorb and learn as much as I can about your style and techniques. thanks for sharing this.
This was super cute and fun! I've watched a few of your vids at random, but this one with the imperfections and additions (one more thing... oh and one more thing..) was very endearing. I'm looking forward to watching your adventures and learning from all your experiences :) :) Thanks Tim! You rock!
Tim, I really admire your tenacity to stick with your goals and tweak your plans to meet your objectives. I am not an artist myself but I enjoy the learning forum and seeing your paintings evolve. Go for it!
Thank you Kim, I think a lot of the things I talk about relate to life in general. We only get one at bat in this life so you may as well swing for the fences :)
Tim, I do have one question. I understand why you start out with a red canvas and begin with acrylic then paint in oil. Can you also continue to paint over the background in acrylic instead?
Hi Michael... yes you can continue in acrylic... you can do the entire painting in acrylic. I prefer the slower drying time of the oils. Once you move to the oils then you must finish with the oils... you cant paint acrylic over oils.
Shona Ranae Savage For the one gallery where I feel comfortable sending them out wet... the owner knows how to varnish the pieces... I make sure she has the varnish there. I use Krylon spray Kamar varnish
Excited for this vlog series! If I may as a person who used to work in video/motion graphics, I have a few suggestions to bring in more youtube viewers. More eye contact with the camera, if you're working off cue cards move them above or below the camera if you can, or try to wean off of them and appear more off the cuff, even having notes in hand to glance at to remember your talking points and returning gaze to camera creates the illusion of more personal and vlog-like that youtube viewers gravitate towards. Most importantly a better microphone or use of a low-pass filter to remove hissing sound from your mic, surprisingly low audio quality turns off youtube viewers quicker than content or visuals. Here is a video with some tips on how to tune up audio quality. ruclips.net/video/PboeWaFwKeE/видео.html Hope this helps, and hope I didn't overstep bounds with suggestions. I wanna see your channel succeed and wanna offer any tips I have. :)
Thanks Kristin... all good points... The looking at the camera thing I know... I was actually shifting focus from one camera to another for a multicam shot but forgot to start recording on camera two :) so I was stuck with half the video with me looking at the wrong lense ;) The sound thing... I also know and we have great equipment... but I was struggling to get the video edited and posted without going into audition to clean up the audio. I will be working on adding the sound clean up to my repertoire... I also figure that my first few crude videos will highlight the production quality as it continues to improve. Cameron usually does all this stuff but he's away for the next week and I figure this is a great opportunity for me to learn. I can also include my improving skill set and the video quality as part of the journey of starting a daily vlog. Always welcome the input :) I have some great advice for you on your career but it will probably be a couple weeks before I shoot that video. Cheers Tim

Thanks Rooma... I learned a while ago that "Done is better than perfect" and if you insist on perfect you'll never get anything done :)

When they go out the door wet, do you lacquer the painting?
