Oh my gosh, I LOOOOOOVE Steve's Vardo!!!!!! I grew up in small town Arkansas and we used to talk to the hobos at the train tracks. They would light fires in 55 gallon barrels to stay warm in between hopping the trains in the 60s.
Oh this brought back memories. My uncle was a sheepherder in S.D and lived for months in one of these. I think the family still has it on the ranch. It had a small coal or wood burning stove. Wood barrels for water and a big wood box on the outside that held all his dry goods.
If the bed were slightly lower, you could sit on it and remove the extra bench. A minimal wardrobe and kitchenware may easily fit beneath a bed. To be able to access the full area under the bed, place the fridge near the door. As a work space, try a folding shelf next to the bed. To wash dishes, hang a portable shower bag over a basin. Store everything away when it is not in use. This may help to create more open space. Hope this helps...
What a cool camper ! I can see why he has so many enquiries about his home. Thank you for sharing a wonderful home. Happy & Safe Travels to you .......
Really awesome set up. A tip to keep an unused fridge or cooler smelling fresh while avoiding mold is to put an open container of charcoal or wadded-up newspaper inside it. Make sure it’s dry first. Thx for sharing your story.
Such a cute camper. I had followed Vardo campers & thought it looked like them. Such a cute lil camper, thanks for sharing with us. Just love how your videos cover everything, so interesting. Thanks again.
My grandpa Hallock had a sheep herder's wagon. He herded sheep in summer & was a hunting guide in the Tetons. I would love to have one just like it. It had wooden wagon wheels & wheels off it fit on a pickup truck. Thanks for the tour. Good video.
You're great interviewer Jimmy, you asked great questions and you seem to make the person feel at ease! I've never thought of using my coffee pot as a pour over, it's such a great idea when I'm not plugged in and I don't want to the mess of the French Press. I was so disappointed that I couldn't pull a trailer with my Outback, this is a perfect solution.
You could make from fiber glass, aerodynamic clips for the front and back that can flip up for shade and make it much easier to tow. I like the idea of your camper. Cozy, simple and COOL.
Great job..💟 your Vardo...I built one awhile back took it to Az and it did pull like a parachute was behind the car..I love the idea if a light weight detachable cone like shape for the Vardo or a wind deflector for the top of you car...
One of those large umbrella's that cover the four seat tables outside restaurants like a sun canopy might work if the pole went through the window with the brolly mounted lengthways. That way the dome of the umbrella is facing the oncoming wind blast and diverting it. Obviously, securely mounting it and conducting driving tests to find how it feels at different speeds would be a good idea, but once at camp you have the benefit of it as a sun canopy or rain umbrella.
So, so creative. His design is amazing. I have never seen anything like that so this was a real treat. Your energy seems to attract very cool "zen" friends. Steve has a great energy. Love to you and to Steve
Yes Jimmy that was an most excellent vlog. Always remember to hydrate your self, with alcohol based mineral water to keep your skin from getting pasty.
He should be able to apply Scotchgard to the outside of the canvas to help with the condensation on the inside. Very very cool and unique build! Thanks Jimmy!
i know this sounds like a fish story...but my grandfather lived in a covered wagon , herding sheep in South Dakota. We didn't visit in the winter so I have no idea how he kept warm. Could of had a little wood stove but I was young and he lived on the prairie. He had a herding dog he speak to..he whistled. The dog knew what to do.
Yay!!!!! I was so excited to see Steve's home. I sub'd him after Kristofers video. Super nice guy, great little home. Gosh!!!! I can't wait to do something, anything lol. Thank you for sharing this!!!! 💛💛💛💛
That is so awesome lookingwe are Fulton boondockers to and where is starting to build our first trailer we've been boondocking in a tent for over a year
Omgoodness I love it!!! I love vardos! I have a Ford freestyle SUV back in Minnesota that can only pull up to 2000 pounds so this would be perfect for me. Thank you so much for sharing! And I subbed his channel. 💖💟💜
hello :) thank you for this video. i m interested in the mixture of the craft paper and mud pot for the walls. can you share the exact material mixture and purpose again? blessings! liv
@wandering jimmy Would love to know if your friend Steve has since this video added any type of deflector to the front of his wagon to make it more aero-dynamic for towing???
If you paint the canvas with boiled linseed or flaxseed it will be waterproof and still be able to breathe, lasts for a few years... old Irish Gypsy trick
This is a very simple and economical way to have oneself a really nice liveaboard travel cabin. The romanticism associated with the Vardo means that the vast majority of people encountered will be very positive to the travel cabin. The amvardo.com website shows that one may be bought for around the price of a Weeroll camper (a very popular cargo trailer with windows, rv type door, insulated walls and ceiling, roof vent and electric hook up. weeroll.com). The Vardo is in a league of it's own compared to the aesthetics of a cargo trailer though. I wouldn't want to use propane heat in a travel cabin due to the moisture produced. The US made Fatsco Pet Stove would fit in the cosy vardo cabin and gives off completely dry heat and doesn't require much separation from walls and furniture. The Fatsco Pet Stove is 9.5 inches high and 6 inches diameter, with an 8.5 lantern base, and it's built from high quality cast iron and marine grade stainless steel. The liveaboard wooden boat community like these stoves for their ability to quickly dry out wet and damp cabins with their dry heat, small size and very reasonable cost (the same reasons I bought mine!). Although originally designed as charcoal stoves, they burn smokeless charcoal briquettes and wood, briquettes take up little storage space, heat and last well, whereas wood is freely available. Fitting in a fabric topped vardo is no problem when using the appropriate silicone heat resistant flue pipe fittings used to install wood burning stoves into tents. Thank you for sharing this video.
Oops! You forgot to show what he pulled his wagon with. I know you talked about it, but i dont know what his vehicle looks like. Just a friendly reminder.
See 😉 I told you that if you started your own LGBT tribe that it would have the most amazing rigs around . Do you think that if he made the fabric top and ribs convertible he e would be able to drive faster? Lol!! While driving it would be like towing a regular small garden like trailer and the gas mileage would be so much better because there would be zero wind resistance 😘❤xoxoxoxo
one moment at a time or he could attach a wind ....well shoot, I can't think of the name dang it... But !they go on the sides, back and top of RVs to direct the windsheer. He could finagle a detachable piece at the front when driving.
Mi Wei 😊 I'm sure there are many different ways to help get better speed and mileage 😊 I'm just not sure of attatching some device to the sides because of the caravan already being very wide??? But what do I know? lol!!! I'm sure he's already thought of the construction or he would have built it different huh? Lol!!! What a sweet little cabin to be with you wherever you go 😉 I was just trying to think of how he could save gas and not have to rebuild the top half but just rather invert in somehow so it's the same height as his vehicle or shorter😊 your idea is great too. He may think we're crazy and like it just the way it is especially if he's not fulltime? But fulltime.....I would be finder a more economical way to pull my home 😉 Take care sweety and it's always so nice talking to someone wanting to help people too 😊 You Rock!!!!!

That exterior took decoupage to a whole new level.
Really cool home. Sheep herders use wagons similar in the summer in the high country to watch their sheep. Thanks for sharing
Great tiny stove. What a unique home. Thanks for sharing the tour :) I had no idea that an annual national hobo convention existed.
Uncle Mo It sure does and if you're interested in trains or Hobo culture you should come out to Britt, IA next August!

Lauralie Karels That's what this wants to be when it grows up!
It is so wonderful you find good hand made rags. Great interview. Love your easy communication style
That is so neat, I love creative minds and hands. 👍🤓🌈
So do I!

Who wouldn't want a covered wagon??? That would make an awesome back yard get away for kids and grown up's alike!!!
Grandma Patty I totally agree 😁

Wonderful interview. Adorable home!
Victoria Walden Thank you!
Another great video Jimmy. I was hoping you'd do a talk with Steve and his covered wagon. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures.
Loved the interview and the camper. Will check out other channel too. My bro has Forester, I'll send it to him! 😃😀
Old Crow Now THAT'S a great idea for a stocking stuffer! 😂
So, so creative. His design is amazing. I have never seen anything like that so this was a real treat. Your energy seems to attract very cool "zen" friends. Steve has a great energy. Love to you and to Steve

Great interview on your part. Love his rig. Thanks for sharing, Have a blessed day
Great interview and tour! I love this tiny house!
AsphaltGypsy Thank you!
Great video Jimmy!
I thought about doing this on this back of my truck as a kind of truck camper. Very creative. Pretty light I'd think , as well.
Loved this interview! ✌👍
This reminds me of a trailer version of a yurt. Very functional.
cynthia Hicks Thanks! I love yurts too.
Yes Jimmy that was an most excellent vlog. Always remember to hydrate your self, with alcohol based mineral water to keep your skin from getting pasty.
Pasty? I've never been this tan!
He should be able to apply Scotchgard to the outside of the canvas to help with the condensation on the inside. Very very cool and unique build! Thanks Jimmy!
Bubba Warbucks Thanks! That was my first thought too.
Boiled linseed/flaxseed painted on the canvas makes it totally waterproof and still breathable, old Irish Gypsy trick
Travelers have been using oil paint for the last 100 years
Cool little place 👍😉
✌️🙏💓😊👏👍😉
Great video Jimmy.
Love your soothing voice. :-)
Nice trailer - good interview, thanx!
Cool rig! Nice video jimmy. Thanks for sharing!
Always mellow. Thanks Jimmy.
So cool! I'm tempted to build a boxcar camper now! Lol.

Wowza!! What an amazing creation.

Marcella Folkmann Thank you!
Great job finding interesting video topics and interviews!
Always the unusual. My cup of tea.
Nature's Friend Thanks!
hello :) thank you for this video. i m interested in the mixture of the craft paper and mud pot for the walls. can you share the exact material mixture and purpose again? blessings! liv
Great video love his wagon !
his paper walls are just like my bathroom floors. I put 3-4 layers of poly on mine and 2 yrs later it is still beautiful and dry even in the bath.
Cool wagon. The mesh door screens are designed to be just walked into. You don't need to grab it.
This is fantastic!
Super cute! Thoughts of a 2 or 3 part front convex trailer cap (removable for showing/while parked?) for wind resistance may help.
Very cool camper. Love to build one of those. Hey, Jimmy. When are you going to do a tour of your van?
Steve (The Hitech Hobo) will be doing an updated tour of my van soon. Subscribe to his channel! Link above.
Amazing what ppl can design!
A buddy heater might cause mold to grow on the interior fabric ceiling.
@wandering jimmy Would love to know if your friend Steve has since this video added any type of deflector to the front of his wagon to make it more aero-dynamic for towing???
I love it! I think I've heard him mentioned by Debrajoy. I'm going to check out his Channel.
💗💗🚐💗💗
im sure you can make some kind of air deflector so you can make it more highway friendly
This is really neat.
Thank You !
Your voice tho! Had to subscribe! 😁
Jimmy, is there a tour of your build out there?
Yes Barb, on RV Panda Monium (Ausia's channel). Also, Steve (The Hitech Hobo) will probably do an up dated tour in the near future.
Thanks Jimmy...found it.
Man! Forgot to do that. I guess we gotta meet up again soon!
Yes, sir.
Lovely vlog thanks for sharing i check out Steve
Great video....
Very clever!
Yaaaaasssss queen.
Love it 💓💓💓
Try a solar Luci Lite. Some have ports for your computer.
If you paint the canvas with boiled linseed or flaxseed it will be waterproof and still be able to breathe, lasts for a few years... old Irish Gypsy trick
Check out Andrew Bennett's channel for the best Vargo build with a shower and a Murphy bed featuring a Murphy desk.
Thumbs up!
Wal-Mart sells flex seal he can use that on the door IJS
LongIslandADED. Great minds think alike!
Love it!
Faye Calder Thank you!
Potty/shower? Did I see a privacy tent behind his cute little covered wagon. I want one! I already have the PT! Thank you for sharing!
That was my tent, but we shared. Steve has a cassette toilet but tries not to use it.
I wonder how good a wood stove would do in there?
I'd be afraid it would burn down.
How much does it weigh?
Hi Cate, Please check out Steve's channel for more info. Link in description.
Awesome! :)

Why does EVERYONE call it modge podge??
Why is John Malkovich interviewing this guy about his vardo tiny house?
Quite a bit of flirtation going on there. I hope you guys hooked up later on :-)
oh my!
RV Ken Living Free I was thinking the same thing....
NEEDS A BATH ROOM N SHOWER
They're right outside. Look for the portable green shower tent that can also serve as a bathroom for a porta pottie.
Oops! You forgot to show what he pulled his wagon with. I know you talked about it, but i dont know what his vehicle looks like. Just a friendly reminder.
Thanks. It's a Subaru Forester, as I mentioned in the video.
saw the add for this on #fulltinyhouse

Thank you for clearing up a question I had.
T Green Hi 😊 What was your question going to be?
About building a nose like structure for windsheer to make the wagon more aerodynamic.
👍🏾
Not a "hodo" Just a fantasy....hobos don't use shore power
Not a vardo, not a wagon, you don't live a nomadic lifestyle.
