This video was THE game changer I have had 30 pro lessons since I began playing 9 months ago my swing always felt awkward even though I was hitting far my left arm was bent at the top and never consistent. It was the stance!!! I did exactly what you said and WOW! My swing is so easy and natural. Thank you thank you!
Been playing golf for 10 years, also been coming over the top for 10 years. I've spent thousands of dollars with golf "teachers" (Golf Tec) and not one can stop my slice. I hate slicing, want to quit every day. This morning I came across your you tube videos and watched every one I could find of yours about slicing. I then went out this afternoon to try it out - pull from the left side, etc. I never hit the ball so good, no slicing, easy to come from the inside, btw, also no fats or thins, more power and right on target! I'm joining your online training on your website, just wanted to write this to say thank you, you're awesome.
Chuck Quinton: light years ahead from any other golf teaching method. His knowledge and simplicity makes anyone so easy to follow that sounds like magic. Almost unbelievable!
Holy Mackerel, this worked like a charm! Never ever hit my 4 & 5 irons this far with a little draw in years! Hey I’m 70 so not as flexible as I used to be. Went out and played 9 holes after watching your video. BOOM the ball went. Shot a 40 versus my normal 45. This was like unlocking a golf Rubrics Cube. More distance! More height! More pars! Yee Haw! Thank you good sir!
Chuck you are a dad gum genius! Now I know why when it gets winter and I am bundled up with layers of clothes it gets so danged hard to keep my left arm straight! This is a game changer! Nobody talks about this! My profound gratitude!
Great, vid Chuck! Lots of people swing with the arms and "forget" rotation. But this happens also when they have their weight on the right foot or equally distributed at setting. Especially with the driver I see a lot of collapsing arms....
Solved my bent left arm instantly. Thanks Chuck! Only thing is now I have a very different back swing feel to get used to. Just how crucial is that full turn on the back swing?
Hi Dave, I don't spend much time answering questions on youtube anymore, please post questions on the site or on our Facebook group here: facebook.com/groups/2497833293787229
I have persistent "tennis elbow" from an Army injury. I experience some discomfort at top of swing, but try my best to keep that arm straight. This year, I'm working more on my hip movement / turn and not letting my arms out race my hips. Stinks getting older! :)
Great video, reverse pivot has been a big problem for me in the past. Can I just ask what approx percentage of weight you would feel on your right side at address, or is it more of a shift from a 50/50 position? Cheers!
Very good video! Can’t say this keeps my left arm straight all the way to the top but much better. Side effects: my head tend to shift quite a bit to the right instead of staying center despite pulling from right shoulder. Will continue to work on it…
THANKS!!! My left arm has been burried in to my side for years!! I never could figure out why my hands stayed so low at the top of my backswing, unless I bent my left arm.
Hi Chuck, Thanks for these videos during this difficult time. I understand why you say big body turn very small arm swing, but you then say you can get in trouble if you turn your hips too much. Can you clarify? I see instructors like Shawn Clement, Mike Malaska and many more promoting a full hip turn by just allowing them to turn fully to eliminate tension in the body and increase power/speed when working the kinetic chain from the ground up during the BS and DS. Thanks
What an awesome video, fantastic visual at 6:50 when you come back to the camera to show what little bit the arms move. I’ve got a question about from that exact point your showing the camera at 6:50 of the video. Would it help to shallow the club if I thought about or had a ‘feel’ of moving my right elbow inwards or towards the ball just a bit ? I’ve had problems staying on plane (tend to go over the top like Couples) just way too much arms across and bad hand positioning. Which your videos have helped massively. What do you think about the elbow question? It seems to help me a bit but not sure if it leads to other problems
Royle Prince no. The club shallows naturally as I discuss here rotaryswing.com/golf-instruction-videos/full-swing-basics/rotaryswing-academy/how-to-shallow-golf-club
You have a lot of good ideas. For me, the most important one was about not moving the eyes. I can't seem to find out where that was now. I am an advanced senior.
Been seeking a cure for my bent left arm for years because my arms are naturally bent. Think ape, hence my username. Nobody, and I mean not a single instructor ever got to the reason immediately like you just did! Like so many other commenters mentioned we've been lied to for years about 60/40 weight on the left side. Immediately after watching this I went to the range and now I have a draw. Thank you again, Chuck. I owe you a beer. No, a case. on further thought, a keg!
I found that "let" is important, like "let" your left arm bend if it wants to. Curtis Strange, Lorena Ochoa, both "let" their left arm bend. The trick is don't try to do anything with the right or left arm after they bend. Bring that whole "assembly" such as it is, down and through the ball with a natural release of the bent elbows and of course the wrists. Ochoa when asked about that terrible bend in her left elbow replied that it gives her extra leverage through the release. You let the elbows release just as you let the wrists release. Of course at address you want to keep the left arm straight for measurement to the ball. Just sayin".
So, I basically need to turn around the axis of my right leg, without swaying my upper body away from the ball? Then, before I start my downswing, I should be leaning my weight into my left side, then turn around the axis of my left leg to my finish? Any thoughts???
lots of youtube teachers says to keep more weight in front than back!! not sure what to follow and where is the happy medium. I do bend at times as well.
I’m left handed so following your video is very difficult. My suggestion is instead of left and right arm (or leg) is to refer to them as front and back arm. That way we all can follow along. Thanks
Early on, I struggled with this mainly because I did not believe what they were saying. I thought there was no way that my arms moved that small amount.
hey I clicked the like button and turned the counter over to 1000 likes, does that mean I win a prize . . . lol, that OK, I' am enjoying the online lessons whilst being stuck at home. . .bloody zombie virus!
supercooloz13 I know Tom. He and I did an adams golf commercial together back in the day. I was the swing coach that had to get 20 different hack golfers to look like they swing like Tom so they could morph us all into one swing that ends with Tom in the follow through. I was also in the commercial, light khakis and a black shirt. Anyway Tom is truly an amazing human being, one of the nicest I’ve met and a phenomenal ball striker but copying his move - well there’s a lot of moving parts in there that would be very difficult to get a student to do. There’s a reason no one else’s swing looks like Tom! But more and more younger players come up now looking the same for a good reason. Rotaryswing Teachers like me understand biomechanics in such a way that we can make your swing not only simpler, more consistent and easy on the body that there’s no reason to try and copy a pro who spent thousands of hours to groove a complex move.

Best advice ever! I tried it last week and gained 10 yards per club, hit more greens, increased confidence, and scored best of the year.

Fantastic advice, the best description I have seen regarding this technique, many thanks
Once again my mind is blown! I had no idea. You are a life saver!! Can’t wait to try this on the range!! Thank you!
Great, vid Chuck! Lots of people swing with the arms and "forget" rotation. But this happens also when they have their weight on the right foot or equally distributed at setting. Especially with the driver I see a lot of collapsing arms....
Thanks Chuck, simple yet extremely effective teaching.
Fantastic and clear explanation on where the lead arm should be. Thank you.
U have totally fixed my iron shots!!! Couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until I started watching your chanel.
Awesome! Glad i could help ya!

great tip, never heard this before, I must sign up for your site
Excellent didn't know this as most pros tell you to have weight on the left for iron play
This was such a key to help taking a divot in front of the ball.

Brilliant video, cured my fault, nobody has every explained this before thankyou.
Superb video. I’ve been struggling to keep the left arm straight for over a year of playing. Great video thanks.
excellent instruction
THANKS!!! My left arm has been burried in to my side for years!! I never could figure out why my hands stayed so low at the top of my backswing, unless I bent my left arm.
Donnie Huffman you’re welcome!
Excellent instruction. This really makes sense. I am pretty sure I load too much on the left.

I love your teaching. Great stuff.

Some players do better with a bent arm as long as rest of there mechanics are are good

This is all good but remember with that big turn you still have to rotate that all through and get left.
Early on, I struggled with this mainly because I did not believe what they were saying. I thought there was no way that my arms moved that small amount.
Or your 5”4 like me and my flexibility is awful, my left arm has never been able to be straight
