Love the early Roland Synth this and JP4, oscillators fat and consistency even in their tone as you play up and down the keys-along with supreme filters. Doesn't sound cheap or plastic like many other synths. What a beast of engineering.
Diese Phase habe ich leider verpasst, als die Rolands aus dieser Generation noch bezahlbar zu haben waren. Heute fast unbezahlbar, aber trotzdem ein schönes Gerät.
Sounds very much like my Juno 6, only with 2 oscillators that can be detuned and 2 envelopes. Very nice though. Oh the Square flute sound at around 3 mins in is very SH1000. Nice early roland sound. .
Roland should bring their true analogue synths back and forget those stupid workstations and those digital wanna be analogues with only 2 octaves or less.
@moog Dome . Yes, and don't forget *The Electrofunk Group THE JONZUN CREW also* , they used along other weapons like Korg 900ps and Poly61, Minimoog, 2 Synare3 traps + acoustic drum, Roland SVC vocoder..
Looks good but for some reason the sound isn't doing much for me. I thought the plugin was average but it seems that its quite accurate sounding. Far prefer the sh101 tone.
Hey, i sent you a message similar to thisone once before, but i never heard back from you! : / I wanted to know if you live in or around the NYC area? and if so, if you would like to talk more about possibly playing synth on 3 full albums of new dance /rock music with an 80s sound . And to hear about all the other opportunities im offering with that as well? Please let me know. Thank you
+AnalogAudio1 Yeah, but if I had the money I'd buy one just for the looks. Imagine seeing someone play one of these in a concert where the venue is small enough that members of the audience can come on stage and get a photo of one with them standing right next to it. But then it's also the ease with which numerous sounds can be produced with less than 5 seconds on programming and knob manipulation. Man, I'd eat this up if I could afford to buy one.
I want to see the market in vintage synths go into a savage freefall. People are paying megabucks for 40 and 45 year old technology. It can be recreated on newer, better machines for a fraction of the asking price if you want those retro sounds.
Always the same discussions... the original analogs sound better than "recreations" by software or newer synths. These are the originals. Apart from that, you don't need to spend megabucks for a vintage car to drive, you don't need to pay megabucks for a Rolex to know the time. There will be no "savage freefall", since it's not the same.
@@AnalogAudio1 even Nick Rhodes said he is "all for moving forward", so I think this obsession with vintage Retro sounds will stifle advancement and 'new-ness'. And where are the spare parts for old machines that require repairs due to their age? Or MIDI connectivity? I already know that people appreciate these older products, but I will not participate. I was offered an original two-keyboard Prophet-10 for $2500 Australian ($1500 USD) and I sold my Jupiter 4 for $450 Australian ($300 USD), but this was all back in the mid 1990s when I was in my 20s and flat broke. (I couldn't afford the $2500 for the Prophet-10 and I desperately needed the money I got when selling the JP-4.) I would still choose to use a Rev 4 re-issue of the Prophet-10 than pay large sums for the original, despite what you say. Each to their own. If Behringer products are solidly made and cheaply sold, they will assist greatly, especially with re-makes of classic pieces of kit like the Linn Drum and DMX drum machine. The only problem is, Behringer will announce a budget re-make of classic items, but three years later, there is _still_ no sign of those things...
wow, I'm glad I just found one in the trash! Its NiCd battery puked all over the inside but its fixable. Memory feature sounds silly, as it disables all the knobs...LOL.
+DonPedro6901 Also the 3 people on Ebay that are attempting to sell the ones that they have. As of February 20th 2016 there is no time limit on any of them.
Great demo... Love my Promars to bits... it is the very embodiment of the vintage Roland sound

This looks like one of those rare hidden gems of a synth. Sounds great.
InstaBlaster
Not hidden or unknown, just ridiculously expensive
This is one synthesizer which I covet deeply. I'd love to have it or a Jupiter-4. Great instruments.
5 years later.....still want one!
Yo tengo uno $$$$
Rainbow bits, big silver knobs, sliders, pegs...old Roland panels are so pretty. This sound is monstrous too, another nice vid.
thanks! Indeed, it's a pleasure to work with it

this is so pure
Love the sound.
Very Nice. You scored on this one! Great sounding synth!
Fantastic machines and videos! Thanks a lot!
thank you for watching!
Sounds amazing.
Great work, as always. Thank you.
+Jeremie Leblanc thx!
Came here because I just tried out the Roland plugin in Ableton. Love this synth for bass especially.
Great sounding synth
Spettacolare!
To 6:19 jarre fx oxygene i love this synth !!
Interesting how some of the panel design elements already hint at the JUPITER-8, including the font of the synth name 😊
It's very similar to the Jupiter-4, it shares the same technology. The Promars is the monophonic version of the Jupiter-4.
The most important thing is that its Compuphonic!
brilliant the 2 sub occerlaters make it a virtual 4 occerlater synth for my purposes. i love sub occerlates, there greatly underated.

very good!
Classic 70s synth sound.

That is one large piece of equipment. Sounds cool though.
Lovely

love your demos. Killer audio--hearing the occasional key presses makes me curious how you amp/record the room, thanks.
thank you for your feedback! Direct line recording adding a bit from original camera audio in the video mixdown
that com truise sound
Great ! I didn't know this Promars Model ... It seems really to be a pre-Jupiter machine ...
Around the same time as the JP4 an includes similar circuitry and parts.
Looks good but for some reason the sound isn't doing much for me. I thought the plugin was average but it seems that its quite accurate sounding. Far prefer the sh101 tone.
i dont
I'm in love

Hi, that sounds nice, but I live in Germany...
@@AnalogAudio1 ahhh shitzel! : P ok, so its not possible. But thank you for getting back to me anyway!
Which filter does yours have? sounds great!
No clue...
I miss my Promars

So buy any of the 3 that are on Ebay as of February 20th 2016. There is currently no time limit on any of them.
+nakedfaves but these are quite expensive with more than 2000 $

What sequencer is that?
Doepfer Dark Time
Is there any synth that doesn't sound good with a lot of effects?
some sound excellent, others sound mediocre. Effects are like spices.

Also: Alan Wilder, Depeche Mode.
You should not use external FX on those vintage synths demos: It disguises their genuine sound character.
And Roland is sucks nowadays.
