This is so relatable back in the day in VA. My mans was into beats and happened to be the neighbor of Nottz and we would vibe off some shit all hours of the nite. True building...

The OG version of the beat sounds so much harder and darker. It's even a bit slower, I wonder if Tip had something to do it being slightly changed. 4 years later and this story among the other videos still give me the chills. I'm a producer as well and I can only pray to have this type of an effect on my peers. Thank you wajeed!
Yeah, on the Amplified album apparently Dilla sent the Zip Disks of the beats to Tip so he could load them up in his MPC and tweak them and mix them to how he liked it, not to mention see how he made his beats lmfao
Plus, Q-Tip was on the CLUB tip at the time (much to the chagrin to a lot of long time fans) and wanted the tempo hiked up a bit for the dance floor.
Just the voicemail alone sounds like an intro to beattape. Classic archive

Don't know why but I feel the beat on the voicemail more than the final beat.
A lot more fuzzy sounding? I feel u it's got a better a feel to it sounding all dusty & hazy rather than the "clean" cut
mrmomokar sounds pitched down more than the final beat. got more funk in it. I think tip fucked with it, I know Dilla sent him the zip disks for beats at the time of amplified.
