I would add grilled veg, like zucchini, onions, peppers, eggplant, garlic, scallions and add it over the top of 1/3 cup of the rice. I would half that pita and then half it again and eat that piece with my meal. I think she loves the pickle stuff for the vinegar, flavored vinegars without added sugar and salt, can spruce up a bland meal. Personally I use fresh lemon and white balsamic to cut my sodium.

    Hey Sansa!
I’m just wondering if you know if that fish was tilapia or did you just use tilapia as a generic fish since she didn’t specify?
She did have a very small portion of vegetable with the eggplant. It looked so sad when juxtaposed with the mountain of rice. 😂
I do low carb high protein and the 8oz of fish seems like a good choice (though I’m nit picky and wouldn’t eat tilapia if I had another option like mahi mahi). And the 8oz portion seems ok. I usually get individually wrapped wild caught salmon, mahi mahi, etc. from Costco and those tend to be between 5 to 7 ounces.
In fact tonight I’m having 7oz roasted salmon in the air fryer and sautéed zucchini for dinner and the protein is about 49g. My carbs (12g) and sodium (334mg) are way less. Fat from the salmon and olive oil are about the same (38g), but those are good fats. I think that’s a good meal and portion, nutritionally speaking with the meal coming in at 587 calories and 407 of those calories coming from the salmon.
This meal she had was better than normal for Chins, but you’re right about her portions. I agree with a side salad and then cutting the rice down by at least half. I was surprised at the sodium content of the hot sauce and tahini. It’s so important to scrutinize your sauces! They can really throw everything off track!Wow! With that in mind, now that I think about it, if she got a side salad she would probably drown it in dressing!
Anyhow, I appreciate your work! Thanks. 😊

@ Yeah. I thought that’s why you used it.
I stay away from tilapia and do mahi mahi for my white fish since mahi mahi gives pretty good nutritional value to the table especially if it’s wild caught. Sometimes I may splurge on Chilean Sea Bass. It’s really amazing how much good quality fish is available at Costco for reasonable prices. Highly recommend. 👍

Wow! I love fish, like love fish, and could absolutely polish off that bad boy all on my own, but I would not have room for anything else, maybe some veggies but definitely not rice and bread and eggplant.
Which, is Chantal just allergic to greens? Spinach, kale, anything that she should be eating on a regular basis? I really wonder if she needs a multi vitamin cus she could be having issues with malnutrition if she’s not eating vegetables regularly. There’s so many options she could have chosen to include, but I really think she avoids eating veggies to make room for more carbs and fat. Roasted carrots, broccoli, those Brussels sprouts she says she likes, even a serving of fresh fruit would have been beneficial.
That fried eggplant is just not it, it’s soaked in oil, and there’s not much of it compared to the rice and fish. I still can’t comprehend how much food she just ate, and how skewed her portions are.
Honestly it seems like a lovely meal, I would need some veggies and smaller portions of fish and rice, but the idea of eating fish with naan sounds incredible!

Not meaning to knit pick, but the wheat coating on the fish carries carbs, and tabuli salad is a no no for us diabetics, cous cous is carby grain. And, she should have no food or drink containing more than 5 grams of sugar per serving. I don't mean to sound like a know it all, but I have lost almost 300 lbs and kept my blood sugar in a normal range from being severely diabetic, for many years now. Might be a bit strict, but I don't have to take insulin shots anymore. Now THAT"S a "non scale victory" in my opinion.

You know what is way easier than counting carbs? Don’t have them. I would lose the rice and pita and probably have another fish. But I would also cut everything else, tahini, eggplant, breading… just a lot of fish.

My advice to her would be to start off by ditching the sauces altogether and reduce the portion size. THEN start introducing veggies. I get that it's impossible for her to do it all at once, but she's really not trying to change much of anything. In a fairly recent livestream, Salah said he was going to order grilled fish and brown rice, and she was upset because "it's really filling." Isn't that what she should be going for? If she can't get over her psychological addiction to junk food she'll make no progress, and she's not open to that.

No, you don't understand really. I mean, she's a food addict, so you have to think about it. She doesn't want to eat foods that make her satiated. She doesn't want to eat vegetables. She doesn't want to eat chicken. She doesn't want to eat high protein. Because those things will make her feel full and satisfied. She wants to stuff herself physically on food so to do that. She has to eat the most processed foods possible. Those are the only foods that are going to allow you to overeat without making you feel satiated. If she ate healthy Whole Foods, she wouldn't be able to eat. That's not what she wants. She wants to be able to gorge herself on food. She physically likes the filling of being full with food. That makes her feel bad.She knows what food she supposed to eat.She won't eat it because she doesn't want to get better. She is addicted to food. It's not about her ignorant, it's about her literal addiction.
