I have the FireCube 3rd Gen and some older Echo show's and Dot's with NO real issues. I DO however own the new Echo Hub witch IS running Vega OS 1.1 and is working GREAT for me and currently is NOT a giant billboard of ads like my Echo Shows have become. Now the Echo Hub has VERY limited apps available but it's really intended to be a smarthome control panel and works great for my particular setup and devices and integrates perfectly with Ring Alarm. I've also been VERY happy with my FireCube 3rd Gen as it does everything I want with expanded storage. Individual needs/want's/desires may drive you to some other device which is fine as everyone is different. The FireCube is MUCH more expensive but once you realize the features/functions it can do over a Firestick or an ONN box it's well worth it to me in my use case and am rather tech savvy and have everything "tricked out" custom. I know TechDoctorUK LOVES his Nvidia Shield and rightly so! Again it's all about individual want's/needs.
the issue isnt that old devices will update to a new OS its that the current devices will have issues because of support the apps will no longer be updated apps like hulu netflix pluto tv and tubi will start to not work any more from the play store because amazon will stop supporting the current play store at some point because the new devices will no longer run it. This is why the amazon play store which was in windows 11 is no longer there. because amazon is going to ditch it time to move on to other devices and if you run a amazon device make a plan to switch.
I currently have a television that has Fire TV built-in when this new Vega operating system comes out officially. I will be using a different streaming player. It would not benefit me to stay with Amazon, especially since I’m in the apple ecosystem and Roku has less ads as well. I really think once this change happens, Amazon is really going to shoot themselves in the foot with this change. Just my thoughts.
There are plenty of options for Firesticks/Cubes. Nvidia Shields, CCWGTV, Onn 4k Pro, Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K Plus just to name a few. Screw Amazon, I dumped all my Fire Devices a while back.
I sideload apps that are not available in the Amazon store. All this means is i will never buy another Amazon firestick type device as they won't have the Apps i want available.
and you still get apps that all have pretty much the same movies and tv shows!! and they cost money to watch them!! got the second generation firestick and within 2 weeks i knew that i could get all those apps online with my laptop, not to mention about 4 or 5 sites that showed commercial free tv and in theater movies, all that were way better than any app selection you could get on any fire stick!!!................
My daughter has that box and we need a new remote for it. Amazon keeps sending the wrong one and she is crutching it along using her phone as a remote. Any idea what remote we need? Her's broke.
What are the ones we have are good until probably 2028 if they're like the fire stick 4K Maxx in ones like them but I've already placed all mine with Owen in boxes and they run better than the fire sticks anyways
Although I agree with your sentiment for the most part, there are in fact perfectly legal 3rd party apps, which people like to sideload. That said, the side loading community is a very small but vocal group. Furthermore, the vast majority of consumers aren't sideloading and aren't even aware of what the term even means. The reality is that Amazon has far more to gain by implementation of their own OS, than it stands to lose via attrition of the small minority who sideload, as these people aren't likely invested in the Amazon ecosystem anyway. IF Amazon implements a change, the target/typical consumer won't likely even know that anything has changed at all. Aesthetically speaking, I don't expect the UI to look or feel much different than it currently does, aside from better performance and hopefully better apps quality.
Not likely, Roku is the market leader by install base, Amazon is currently in third place, by market share and that's WITH side loading as an option, which is why Amazon is likely comfortable with this speculated move away from Android. Frankly, if sideloading was truly driving the market, the Roku would not own over 50% of the streaming market. Nonetheless, I'm still not entirely convinced that Amazon is going to dump android for its Fire devices, I think the next fire cube 4th generation will do a lot to answer this question.

Thanks for the update. I was worried. Another a good video.
Amazon updates disabling ADB debugging is game killer. Never buying a FireTV device ever again.
The Onn 4K Pro is amazing! I switched all my fire sticks in my house over to them.
Just wish it was available internationally like the fire tv devices
Remote finder is clutch also
@@TechDoctorUK Hi Doc, could you spell out exactly how we in the UK can get one of the ONN 4K Pro devices?
@ozmunky I've got one and I live in the UK
Just wish it had more internal storage..
Great video hope people get this, the first statement is enough to prove this. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome info . Thanks for sharing. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible night. Much love and RESPECT

My 4K Max updated to New OS this morning and now I have to reinstall all my apps if available. I am in the U.S.
Totally agree with you here👍👍👍👍👍
Im buying another Xiaomi mi box im over the fire stick regardless
Yes I too have that fire tv box,,,

I was all ways happy with that Box,
Shame they discontinued it,,,
it really was a beast !
@@TechDoctorUK yes,,,,,
It was great,,,, cannot understand why they stopped it,,,,,,,,🤔
Great news for now..They are in control and can change the game..I never saw that firebook
*What do you think guys ?*
100% only on new devices.
You are wrong mate. Amazon have updated Fire HD tablets from Fire OS 6 to version 7 which was based on Android 9.
I was talking about TV based devices, not phones / tablets.
Amazon needs true competitors so that we can stop using their devices

No problem 👍
Awesome awesome video. Thank you so much for what you do. Brother and for the information that was the best box that thay ever put out.
💯
Amazons already been displaced and replaced by the Onn 4K pro. They should concentrate on the Ring cameras and echo dots line instead .
Sensible explanation. Thanks, Doc. People are running about with their hair on fire. Thanks for throwing a bucket of water on them.
Very welcome
Got rid of Amazon Fire sticks years ago...... I detest the way they do business......
I sideload apps that are not available in the Amazon store. All this means is i will never buy another Amazon firestick type device as they won't have the Apps i want available.
Thanks TDUK for the helpful info.

How do you get a IPTV channel list and how does it work? Thanks
They slow them down with updates, the same with smart TV, s
Still using first gen fire TV box, no problems
Still on FireOS5 ?
Still using my first gen cable box that only has Showtime on it. No problems at all.

When is this coming to US?
i just bought a 4k max to get more memory, as i am waiting for a clear winner to emerge. it has bugs......
My daughter has that box and we need a new remote for it. Amazon keeps sending the wrong one and she is crutching it along using her phone as a remote. Any idea what remote we need? Her's broke.
You can use ANY amazon remote on ANY firetv device. You need to put the remote in pairing mode by holding down the home button for 10secs
@@TechDoctorUK Thanks. We must be doing it wrong or something. We will try it again.
Is there any way to upgrade the fire tv stick to fire OS 8 manually?
So if they stop updates for a device do we have more control over it.
not necessarily more control but it means they can't make any further changes to your device
Why can't install fire tv home launcher on android box?
What are the ones we have are good until probably 2028 if they're like the fire stick 4K Maxx in ones like them but I've already placed all mine with Owen in boxes and they run better than the fire sticks anyways
Once there four yrs old or older they wnt updates wnt happen on them anymore
But they still disabled ADB debugging
Sticking with my Android TV (Google) for now
Ok if their not pushing any new versions why do I still get shell is busy 🤔
Amazon blocked ADB access
Is the second generation fire cube, going to be a problem
no, that device will be fine
Someone will come out with a custom VEGA OS ROM for fire sticks.
How come you're apps for fire devices don't work anymore?
Amazon blocked ADB
Could everyone be unhappy with this because they can’t watch illegal, free stuff anymore? I’m guessing this is the exact reason.

How we can change it to android os
So might not be able to download 3rd party apps in the future.
never clicked so fast 00
