it would make sense that a place with german and french influence would have a language that has many similarirties to english because modern english is basically a hybrid of old germanic languages and french latin infulences. vsauce explained it once.

Bicky Burger: a deep fried burger, made from a mix of chicken, pork and horse meat
Bicky Dressing: a sauce made from cabbage, cauliflower, mustard, dragon fruit, onion and cucumber.

Dexbonus If you wonder why Dutch and Flemish sounds similar to English, I can explain why.
In the 16th century the Netherlands were very important in sailing. Because in that century sailing was very popular and also very important for the economy, the Netherlands had a big influence on the whole world.
Most of tem are gone, but some of them secretly remain. There's also the reason that English and Dutch are both originated as a German language.

The 'Hent' pronounciation is typical for that part of the country's dialect as they pronounce most G's as H's and tend to get a lot of flack for it :P
Being from the other side of the Flemish part of Belgium myself I don't pronounce it that way.

well a lot of the languages in europe share the same roots in latin and greek, and also if a language doesn't have words for something they'll usually use the english, so it's no surprise that a lot of the words are similar

Bicky burgers are usually mystery meats, like leftovers thrown together with some starch. What makes it a "bicky" burger is the 3 sauces, the red, yellow and green one.
I love your pronunciation of "Gent"! I had no idea that tuna pizza was a Belgian thing. I find it rather disgusting!
You should try speculoos spread, you can get it in the US nowadays.
In risk of sounding horribly sexist: your appreciation for Duvel is quite surprising. It's generally considered a macho, manly beer. I'm not too fond of it myself, it's a bit too much of a "meal" for me. But if you want, I can send you some similar beers that aren't as easily available in the states as Duvel is.
Do note that the Duvel Double they sell in the US is very different: Regular Duvel ferments a third time in the bottle, making it a lot "heavier". Duvel Double is only fermented twice and resembles a regular pilsner, sorta kinda.
Hope I don't miss out next time you're in the Belgiums! :)

Sorry to say but if a bear is chasing you you are probably dead. If you see a bear out on the open then you can try to play dead, make yourself look bigger and make loud noises (if there is no cubs) or hide. But once its going for you just keep running.
