I don't have pigs. I don't have any pets, and I have no plans to have pets. I still love your videos... You can never have too much knowledge, your piggies are adorable, and you're so warm and kind that you put me in a good mood. 💜
I can never have a pet. Very allergic.
@@lorettaolson8748 I love what you said!!!
I can't have a pet either because the apartment manager is strict. No pets of any kind allowed.
Do you like him ?
@@noodles8271 Who?
I had a guinea pig who loved a ball from a ball pit. He would push it into the corner of the cage, get his nose under it, lift it up with his nose and let it roll down his back. It was cute to watch.
I've had guinea pigs who like to stare into a mirror meant for birds. I can't blame them for staring; they are very good-looking.
Some of my guinea pigs have liked watching cartoons. One piggy would squeak at night until I put the cartoons on. Was like a kid not wanting to go to bed. Would put on cartoon and use the sleep timer on the t.v.
Adorable!!!!
One of my pigs likes a mirror 😂 he jingles the bell too sometimes. Tried to teach him to do it for treats but changed my mind the first time he did it in promoted.
@@elleleigh3339 I can see how knowing to ring a bell for treats could become a problem. 😄 My sibling had a dog who they trained to ring a bell when he wanted to go outside. It didn't last long, because -- as it turned out -- the dog liked to go outside every 20 minutes or so. 😂
I guess it's kinda randomly asking but do anybody know of a good website to watch new tv shows online ?
@Bo Casey Try Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
Yes, my piggies just like anything stuffed with hay. I create houses and tunnels from cardboard boxes and cut a skylight on the top to stuff hay through it. They will reach up and pull it through and seem to have fun with that. Great topic!
Yes we also have a wooden roll with little wholes. We put sometimes pellets or peaflakes inside. They love to roll it around and collect the food
How do you stop the pigs from eating the cardboard?
@@professorp1 ours don't eat it. They chew on it but I think they don't really eat it.

Good to know.
"Food makes it fun" very true when it comes to piggy toys! 🐾
My piggies absolutely love cat jingle balls. They love to toss it around and it’s really cute.
Also, this is the same thing as the rainbow bridge but it’s just more natural and it’s also the same size. www.amazon.com/dp/B087FXVKJW/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_api_fabt1_xcbRFb4EPPKQA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Mine too
Same!
not me getting out of bed to take one of those seed sticks that hang on the side of the cage out
I love it when Scotty yells at his pigs like: Nate! Billy!
Mine do LOVE their fleece forest! Just took a plank of wood (about 2×6×33 inches), drilled 100 holes (4 rows of 25) and cut 100 fleece strips (about 1 inch wide and 15-16 inches long), pulled a fleece strip through each hole and tied a knot. I put velcro along the top bar of my c&c cage and on the bottom side of the wood plank so its secured. The fleece dangles from above, they always hide, zoom and popcorn when i put it in their cage. Definitely their favorite non-food enrichment item to date.
Absolutely love your idea, will give it a try myself
What a great idea! I'll get on that tomorrow. I am sure they will absolutely love that. Thank you so much for sharing.
One of my pigs actually chewed a hole in her snuggle sack and got herself stuck between the liner and the outside of the bag. The hole wasn't even that big! Thirty years I've had pigs, and that was a first. She was okay, though. Actually tried to wrangle her way back in when we got her out.
One of my boys went down my shirt or sweater. It was funny. He also loves to climb in my sleeves. 😂
Mine is laying under my shirt getting scratches now!!
My piggies have always enjoyed soft plush toys (made for puppies or babies because they're safer). Not to play with, but to cuddle up to :-)
Yeah mine do that too :)
I have a guinea pig which all the others fight with so I have no other choice to separate her from my others so I usually give her this little stuffed panda which she used to jump on to help her reach her water. I do let her sometimes see the other girls but each time she will screech very loud until I get her away from them. We do plan on getting one of our boy guinea pigs neutered that's about her age though.
Aww that's cute I might try finding one easy to clean.
When I pass on, I would like to come back as one of your guinea pigs. 🐹
Yes, that would be a fantastic reincarnation!
Yep il join u there xx
My son and I watched your videos for 2 years before we rescued our boys Peanut and Pumpkin ❤️ we love all the work you do with small animals!
Thank you for the kind words Sarah. Say hello to your son and give your piggies kisses for me
I love the ramps and tunnels in your cage!!
Yeah mine love tunnels
I'm pretty sure I have watched almost all your videos. They have been beyond helpful. I feel that I have done a lot of research in two weeks before getting a pair of males. I wish we had a rescue here because I would rather adopt than shop but I have called all our rescues and no guinea pigs so I am left with the pet store. I am trying to get my husband to do a trip to L.A to adopt. But thank you so much for all the helpful information. I knew nothing about guinea pigs. My husband wanted to get a ball for them not knowing how bad they are for them. So glad I ran into your page.
Have you checked your local animal shelter? That’s where I adopted my two boys. They only charge $5 for guinea pig adoptions. I adopted a lone boy. Then a year later, after watching many bonding videos, I went back to the shelter because they had another single boy. I talked them into letting me adopt him on a trial basis to see if the boys would bond. The bonding went great and they have been together for 1&1/2 years now.
Balls are fine as long as they are not made of anything poisonous and they HAVE NO HOLES! It’s the little holes in the balls (often meant to hide treats in etc) that they can get their little hand-feet stuck in and their bones get hairline-fractures easier than you would think, and they are TOUGH little guys they won’t show pain even if they trust you, until it’s REALLY hurting them.
EDIT: I just realized you probably meant those transparent “exercise balls”, not little balls for them to roll around their enclosure. NEVER let a guinea pig into an “exercise ball”, they are too small (even the ones that are MADE for piggies) and even if they WERE the right size it’s SO easy for the little guys to get their feet stuck or hurt their back in one of those things, and one of the saddest things about cavvies is how hard they will work to show you they are “tough” (not in the sense of not affectionate, much more in the sense of “I can have a broken leg and still run a marathon I’m no weakling” lol)
Toys can be a waste of money usually, some piggies will play with toys. Mine stare at them like what's this. Mine like to run through tunnels and hide in them.
When you said they're more likely to chew on there house then there toys I felt that
My nearly 8-year-old girl adores the yellow treat ball. I usually put pellets in it and she'll entertain herself with it for a long time during floor time. Two of the others have also figured it out now, though, so sometimes it's like watching a soccer competition. Agree on the apple sticks or any other type of dried sticks - they show no interest in those at all. They do love fresh willow sticks. They don't chew on them, but will peel off the bark and eat it. They also really like tunnels. I think every piggy should have one. Funny thing is, when you move or lift a tunnel for cleaning, as soon as you put it down, they just HAVE TO go through it.
A toy that my guinea pigs have really liked is a plastic wiffle ball the size of a baseball. I chop up carrots and bell peppers and put them inside. My pig rolls it around so the veggies fall out. She also picks it up and shakes it and the veggies fly.
Another toy along the same lines is a Funkitty cat treat ball. I put pellets inside. It has adjustable openings so my pig can roll it around and get pellets.
My guinea pig growing up loved to play with a little ball with a bell in it during floor time, she would get really excited and play fetch with it. Of course since this ball had a bell inside she only played with it under supervision. She also loved when I would hide little treats around inside and under things during play time. Really anything we could do together rather then passively she seemed to really love and get excited for.
The only toy my pigs have had any interest in is the woven balls and stray balls
Same

2/4 of my pigs like the wooden apple sticks and it cracks me up because they carry them around like dogs 😂
Maybe I'll buy mine some.
My Penny loves the wooden wicker styled balls. She picks them up and throws them all over the cage. My little girl Willow is more into houses and jumping on and off of them.
Terrific information. I especially liked the comment “What I can’t eat this ... get is out of here”. That’s definitely my guys!
What a sweet guy (the piggies too!)! I love how he always pauses to kiss the piggy :-)
1:53 THIS!!!! Why do pet stores continue to sell things that are harmful I to animals. SPREAD THIS INFORMATION!!!
quick question: how do you clean the burrito sack if they peed in it?
I use your idea of hay in a brown lunch bag 11:18, It’s great for providing hay when it’s floor time.
Benji doesnt go near the loofah hanging toy and doesnt pay any attention to the chew carrots .He loves his tunnel roll the most and goes crazy zooming up and down the ramp through his grass hut too the hay trough. He doesnt seem interested in toys at all. Billy played with the loofah hanger toy by head butting it so it would swing and those seed things( long since removed) he didn't eat them but would grab it with his mouth pull it up and let it drop making it bang against the cage repeatedly which was so so funny.
Yay! Some decent bedtime viewing. Perfect 😀❤️
Billy is a sweetie. Cuddle cups are the best toy for owners :)
Wish we had health insurance like that for piggies over in England :/ I can only find one provider and it's so expensive just for a month of cover. I wouldn't be able to afford it
In Germany too. It's 15€per month. We have 5 piggies.
Australia doesn't have piggy insurance either
Of course you could try putting aside some reasonable amount of money every month so you have at least some, when you piggies get ill.
@@elkemichael6699, which helps. But I have paid over $200 for an urgent neck lumpectomy on a 5yo piggy and I am currently paying off over $400 for another 5yo piggys' spay after the discovery of a massive right ovarian which so Thankfully turned out to be a cyst. But on opening Blaze up for the spay, my vet found a much smaller cyst on Blazes' left ovary as well
@@karaleetrapp I can relate. 2 years ago we ha in 3 Month over 1300€ vet bills for two piggies.
And in the end my Flink still died.
But Mocca, the other one is still alive.
My Rosie enjoyed picking up small chew toys and putting them back down, over and over again. Sometimes she'd whip her head around while holding onto the chew toy.
My pigs love cat toys that have bells inside!
Dont forget about those hamster wheels or disk things! Ive seen people using those too.
Oh NO. Not for Guinea pigs
@@faith5563 i definetly agree. 😊
NO, they are bad for their backs.
Love the Burrito Sack 😁 When I first got my piggies I bought a bunch of chew type toys, definitely a waste of money they didn't touch them but they do like the woven balls sometimes and cardboard boxes of course :)
Where can I get the burrito sack?
My pigs love the wooden balls they always chew them

My piggies enjoy willow balls, or willow balls that have hay inside too. The only toy, so to speak, they like, is Small Pet Select fidget sticks, they're different grasses twisted into a stick shape, they love the willow balls with different things inside too. Right on, Scotty!
My guinea pigs have a cat ball with a bell inside it and they LOVE rolling it around ❤️
Mine too
Toys ...Saskia's mansion house, tunnel xl openings on both ends with a large opening in the middle , snack shak already filled, puppy stuffed animals.
My piggies have fun with their tubes, mainly the fleece ones but I have ones in other materials. They run through, they try to steer them with their noses when inside! Because they're lightweight they also like rolling the tubes along to push them out the way! The best trick is when two piggies enter a tube from either end, leaving their bums sticking out!!!
Wicker balls are mildly interesting for them.
They also like the 'boredom breaker' forage board where they can sniff out treats in holes and pull them out.
Its interesting what you say about the plastic balls. When I had hamsters, I felt it a shame to put them in to just bump into things. I preferred to handle them and let them crawl up down the sleeves of my baggy jumpers! More recently, the tube arrangement with the hamster cage was fun, except when it got 'funky'!
Theres definitely a tube/tunnel theme here!
I wish I had room to build a tunnel like Pipsqueak's!
A hangmat may be fun for a piggy, and I've known piggies to enjoy pushing paper balls around. Sometimes with a treat in it. But the plastic balls can even be dangerous for hamsters, mice and rats too. Theyre often left in for too long. We're lucky to have a great source of info from you and others who care. There's so many dangers that petshop workers aren't informed about, and they sell us these things. We must be well informed, as others who are supposed to be responsible, aren't.
the plastic treat ball with pea flakes in it....I had to get two of them so they don't fight over it. They roll those balls around for half an hour or more during floor time... wish I could post a video here for you to see... they have a blast with those balls!
Post it to your channel!

Our family pet guinea pig loves corn on the cob bought from a pet store. It's like watching a kid opening a gift for Christmas every time it gets a new one, about once a month.
My guinea pigs loove the wicker balls, they throw them, shove them and chew them :)
They love cardboard tunnels too
They only like apple sticks if I hold it for them to chew
Got a 12 pack of 1 inch tennis balls with a bell inside each - have 3 boars. All under 6 mos so all quite playful - we have an Abyssinian who is the “leader” and then two American shorthairs who are best buds. They all seem to get a kick out of knocking the jingle-y balls around, and I haven’t seen them try to eat the tennis balls either which is awesome…I take the balls away though when I can’t be around them just in case. They are in my wife and I’s master bedroom and it is so heartwarming to see them peek out at us all day and they call to us when they want head scratches and hay…we love our little boys!!!
EDIT: Our youngest (suspected) is so adorable, we have a very roomy cage so if he see us getting the hay bag out he will stand up on his back legs like a meerkat and whistle so loud, to wake his slumbering buddies up and let them know it’s fresh hay time…then they all trot out and find a place to sit around the hay bowlthey make my wife so happy when I can’t be there and they are so cuddly, they enrich our lives and we enrich theirs
My potatoes only like toys they can chew on. Stuff like those grass balls are their favorite. I've also seen Diablo taking bites out of the side of his house. They also love paper towel tubes. I stockpile them so I can throw a new one in as the old one becomes gross or is devoured. Fat Nuggets' favorite toy is that wooden structure that looks like an atom. I've seen him dragging it around and chewing on it and he likes it so much I have a new one on standby in case he chews it up so much that it becomes a choking hazard and I have to remove it.
They also have a new game they like to play where they turn the litter box into a catapult. I have no idea how they do it because I've only ever seen the aftermath, but I'm assuming one of them is springboarding off of it and launching the bedding I use as litter all over the place. Then they sit there and look cute and innocent when I investigate what that sound was while they're both covered in fluff. (I don't even know why I bother with the litter box...they mostly use it as a bed rather than a litter box.)
I have one Guinea pig unfortunately because the other passed away, but it loves these 2 mini stuffed animals and is always plays with it ❤
He's making all that noise back there!☺🥰
My guinea pigs like boxes. Boxes get destroyed with love.
I read horror stories of the wicker/willow balls where it can come apart and wrap around the neck or it breaks off and stuck in its throat
I remember angus from skinnypigs1 had a little wood block chip stuck on his throat she got just on time.
Wow, that's horrifying.
Thank you for alerting
us to this.
Thanks for sharing that. Definitely not worth the risk.
I followed your recommendations with adjusting the cage and Play area for my guinea pigs and for the first time my two boys had the Zoomies this morning and I know that they love to run it's so funny to see how fast their big bodies and tiny little legs can go but my Sebastian was prompting Valentino to chase him and they really had a lot of fun this morning. So I suggest the best toys is plenty of space to run and a lot of tunnels to run through. Thank you this video was great thanks for posting 💗
I made large barns for my pigges out of thousands of popsicle sticks with doors and open backs. They look cool in their home, and they love running through them/using them as shelter. It took about 2 weeks of cutting and gluing popsicle sticks, but it was definitely worth it. I even painted them like barns with non-toxic paint.
wow would love to see a picture of thst!
I have some wooden toys where you can hide treats behind little hatches. The piggies can open the hatches by pushing with their nose or manipulating with their paws. They are very excited when I give it to them and often they react very territorial to each other while searching for the hidden treats.
i have something just like the snack shack except it’s made out of timothy hay
I’ve seen it before but instead I bought the snack shack for som reason
where did u buy it from ?

Oh hey! I'm glad to know the little food log is good for them, my dad gets very excited about crafting my piggies hidies and ramps and all kinds of stuffs, he made a little hay feeder that's basically a vertical box with holes that's attached to the cage, with no top or bottom. My laziest piggy grabs food from the bottom, but the other is always getting on her back paws (rests her front paws on the other holes) to reach the highest holes and eat from there x) It's fun and cute to watch
2:40 thanks Scotty I was so close to buying an exercise ball for my piggies
You can buy these hay boxes that have I believe alfalfa and dandelions in them, and my screamers LOVE them x
My experience is that it's hard to predict what a guinea pig will like. They're all so different in character!
I've had a little windchimes for over a decade now hanging with the piggies. It's one where the staves are not hollow and the middle trigger thingy is non-existant. For "generations" (adoptive generations) I've seen piggies who loved to ring those chimes and piggies who didn't care for it. And those who rang it, some rang it hard and some loved to make ambient music.
One of those "musical" piggies also loved to pick up and throw down a ball with bell in it.
Most piggies just love the snack ball. Because, duh, it's food related.
My piggy's love to run through the bird bells. Also the snack wheel
Are apple sticks just apple tree wood? We have an untreated apple tree on our property. Can we cut thick branches from that and give them to our GPs?
I recently got my girls a wooden bendy tunnel much like the ones you have Scotty, and a natural edible tunnel which I've stuck hay inside it which they really seemed to enjoy. I think it entertains them but of course I agree that it will prob get dirty after a short while.
Please tell me where u got that. I've used big plastic tunnels that were an accordion shape that could stretch out till like 4 ft but then I noticed that they were chewing on it and I didn't want them getting sick from chewing on the plastic. So I would love to find where I could get a wooden one thanks for posting
@@cme1027 I got it from pets at home, this is in uk so not sure if you live in uk or not. I know what you mean about the plastic acordian thing though as I have one from omlet which like you say they chewed on so isn't great but I think it's more for temporary outdoor use.
@@traceygreasley2448 lol.. I'm in the USA.. god bless RUclips... I will see if I can order it from your source.. if not someone her.. thank u for your response 💗🐹
I think my girls favorite "toys" are cardboard boxes and tp tubes stuffed with hay or paper bags. I do have a treat ball, they love rolling it around so pellets fall out. The only other toy that I've bought is from Oxbow, it's a tiny clay flower pot with a simple lid on it, you can stuff it full of forage and it hangs on the cage. They goes nuts!
Hi you made my day by reading this and I have my own 4 months old guinea pig I would like if you say hi
i hanged a little metal jingle Bell to the ceiling, an d y guinea pigs sometimes like to make it sound. i had one that instead of wheeking for food she just went to ring the Bell instead(like crazy). my actual gp likes to make it go circles
What a smart piggie!!
@@riagl153 she was very smart!
Our two girls like the soft puppy toys to snuggle up with. I get the little cloth squeaker toys that are washable. Merida loves to have one near her food bowl so rest / sleep on, and her fave is a flat blue sheep that she will move around the cage and sleep on. I also have one of those bendy bridges used as a tunnel. Tiana likes to run thru when she has her zoomies.
My Hari LOVES his small fleece pillow that I made him (about 4X6X1 inches). He always put his head on it when sleeping. Cuteness overload!
My boys like natural chew balls. I have one or two chucked in their cage. They’re small, so don’t really take up space and they’ll chuck it about and push it, and chew it a little. I avoid the balls stuffed with things that have large gaps, as I’ve seen Guinea pigs get their head stuck in them when reaching in for more.
Then ones I use are small willow balls (or wicker, like you showed). I had a slightly larger one, and as they destroyed the outer tighter layers I decided to remove it as it was leaving bigger gaps between the strips of willow. It wasn’t all that sturdy and probably would’ve been okay, but I didn’t want to chance it after so many horror stories of their heads getting stuck! As you say, guinea pig hypochondriac!!
Those hanging chew toys you showed, my chinchilla loved them! She went crazy for pumice 😢 I’ve kept a lot of her chew toys that went unused, I can’t let go of them yet. That’s where the balls came from. They don’t get enough out of them for me to go out of my way buying them. But it’s been nice repurposing the balls, which they seem to get some entertainment from 😁 Maybe I’ll occasionally get a ball in the future, they are pretty inexpensive.
Their favourite thing is piles of hay, and natural wooden hides like the fiddle sticks ☺️
Ps- if you use rolls, cut them down the side so they can’t get their head stuck. Make sure to avoid ones with glue/staples in them too :)
I've found the exact opposite. My pigs love toys with bells in them. When I get them new ones they get so happy.
My piggies love balls that they can chew on like the wooden ones! In floor time they push them around and chew them
@@yoohyeonforever7067 Mine sometimes put them in front of their hidies to create a barricade so they can keep the other ones out. Do yours do that as well? Kind of funny
@@maxandzorro oh yes they do! My 2 boys does that all the time, I can only buy the balls like 1-2 times a month but when they get them they love them
@@maxandzorro if its the little ones the push them in their hidey and chew on them while they hide
The wicker balls, I found dangerous and I through them all away. The CORN soft ball they loved
My piggy, Pippin, likes doing kung fu moves with wooden chopsticks. He also likes grabbing fresh veggies like he's a T Rex with fresh meat.
Here are my pets favorites toys in case your piggies like to chew and play: My giro likes anything that rolls and churrito likes to pick up things. Gummy bear just wants to chew. Also my vet recommends having a phone book for them to shred and chew. My boys love books. I use toilet rolls, guinea pig balls that can roll, and old books. Also I use the chews from pet stores and my boys love it.
So much good info. I’ve had good luck with the sandwich bag stuffed with hay. The pigs like to burrow and dig for good hay. I think they like the crinkle sounds, too. Billy was so mellow and patient today. He needs extra treats. 🐾
I love watching you we give our 4 Guinea pigs bpa bath cups that are found at Walmart in the baby section! Our Guinea pigs love them like our bunny does.
We give our Guinea pigs the oxbow toys they go nuts over them, like the bunny does!
I’ve always kept toys in my piggies cages!! They like the ones that you clip to the cage with bells, but #1 favorite toy is the dollar tree plastic cat balls (the big ones, size of a soft ball) with a bell inside. My pigs pick them up and toss them, push them with their noses, move them into their favorite hidey. They’ve never liked the wicker style balls, I think my piggies like stuff that makes noise :) they also loveee tunnels but tend to go potty a lot inside which makes it hard to keep in their cage long term :/
I might try those plastic cat balls for my piggies. One of my pigs loves to throw things around and make noise.
I’m a brand new foster for piggies , so I know nothing. The shelter I am fostering for gave me nearly no good info on care. This video was tremendously helpful. Thank you !
I HIGHLY recommend not buying bendy log hides like the rainbow one he recommend. I used to like them too but it caused me a LOT of vet bills and I was lucky it didn't smash my piggies jaw in as he may have had to be put to sleep.
They was playing in the cage, running in and out as they was playing chase games and one of them turns their head sharp and bashed his face. He cried in pain and he lost a tooth. He had to be at the vets for loads of dental work for YEARS as it weakened his bottom gum area. He'd grow his teeth back and then loose them. He's a strong boy and for him to cry like that was not normal for him.
If you have this bendy log please monitor your piggies. I was in the same room it happened but it was too quick and I got up and ran over to comfort him. I gave his pain killer until we could get to a vet.
I use only soft things in the cage like hides and I have a fairly big cage bigger than a standard C&C.
Scott my girls have the yellow ball you showed, They is a flake treat you put in there, They push it around and get the treat as it falls out. They do push that ball around.
One of my guinea pigs loved the woven grass balls and timothy twists from oxbow. She would drag them around the cage with her, toss them, and when she got bored of them, she could eat them. They also loved those wooden castles from etsy with tunnels and bridges. For chew/throw toys though, they seemed most interested in things that were also edible.
I once tried calculating how big a hamster wheel had to be to be safe for a guinea pig.
The size of the wheel had to be so big to reduce the curve so as not to give the piggies back problems that I ended the calculation before I got the definite number. Because it was way easier to just make a giant pen for them.
But theoretically you can make a wheel for them. But the theory is just not practical to realize. But the question is still cool if you like math. ;)
My two boys, Warlock and Bucky love boxes. We've tried other houses, but ever since we started using amazon boxes with the tape peeled off and cutouts made, that's their favorite thing. We put extra fleece underneath to make it super cozy. Cardboard paper rolls with hay are their second favorite so far! Honestly, getting them earlier this year was the absolute best choice we've ever made.
CONGRATULATIONS 50K Subscribers Scott!! 🎊💐♥️🎉
One of my pigs loves to throw things around. And my other pigs is a chewer. So I put some of those apple sticks in the cage for the thrower. And put a few apple sticks woven through the wire, so they are secure, for the chewer to chew. The other thing my pigs like are a timothy hay tunnel. They like to go in it and chew on it. It lasts pretty long until its eaten down so it falls over. I might replace it with one of those colored stick tunnels, that you showed. I was reluctant to buy because I worried about what they used to make the colors. I bought a uncolored one, but it’s really not big enough for my giant sized piggy.
I just recently got 2 guinea pigs and this video helped a ton, I was clueless as what to get them and I actually thought a ball would be cool for them but after watching this video I understand them alot more now.
I once received a small chewing toy in a subscription box (piggiebox). its a triangular/pyramid shaped wooden structure with a ball inside that creates a noise. I thought "They'll be scared of this!" but tried it out anyway. The boys LOVED it. My boy Leo would actually search for it when I tried to throw it out after he had chewed it in half, so I had to put the broken toy back into the cage, lol. Mine also love the grass balls, but they only last a few minutes. My boars are incredibly destructive so I barely ever buy them toys, most of the time i just make something out of toilet paper rolls or paper bags. Spending a few bucks on a toy just for it to last no less than a minute just isnt worth it.
The boys also had a corner house that you showed in the video each, but they would literally just pick them up and hurl them around, just to then scream until someone picks it back up. This also happened in the middle of the night. So i splurged a bit and got them these big, fancy houses made from sturdy wood. They not only look cute (like real houses!) but are also too heavy for them to throw them, haha.
I got some little wooden things, like two wheels on an axle and like a dredle-shaped one. They weren't overly interested but they did have a nibble and throw them around a bit. They just came with my hay feeder so I'm glad I didn't spend any money on more toys
My boys LOVE mini pillow pets...and I mean loooooove ♥️ They sleep on them or just lay their heads on them. I have several for each boar, including Santa pillow pets, for the season 🎄 Occasionally I have found them chewing on them, but it’s not often enough (nor is there any damage done) to be worried about. My guys haven’t played with many of the toys I’ve bought them..I have definitely fallen victim to the cutesy, colorful chew blocks and such, but they look at me like I’m nutso 🤣 I like that they add a bit of color and dimension to their cages though..so it’s not all wasted money lol
So glad people talk about how bad those plastic balls are for animals, I got a larger one for my Guinea pigs and I have never used it cause I didn’t know how bad it was.
Before getting my skinny pig sisters I did a lot of research thankfully. The previous owner had those hamster balls and I tossed them out immediately and upgraded them to a midwest cage too. I do fill toilet paper rolls with hay and they love that and got them a wooden bendable bridge they like to run through and I sometime will hide a veggie in there for them. The favorite is a snuggle snack they like to sleep together so it is perfect for both of them. Glad I saw this video sounds like it will save me a lot of money on toys they won't play with. I do want to get them a fleece forest to put above the hay litterbox they love.
I give my piggies toilet paper and paper towel rolls all the time. I have saved lots of money too. They have a snack shack that they get during the day and a snuggle sack at night. Thank you for making this video.
Me too.
They like to throw them.
I love the Cuddle sack
I have two and piece of paper in their enclosure is the BEST DAY EVER for them apparently 😆 much zoomies and popcorning! They also love stripping the layers off a piece of cardboard. Easily pleased piggies haha
Awesome info!!
Guinea pig toys=tunnels
YESSS!!!! thank you!
There seems to be a trend starting with people who do cages of their subscribers and they re always recommending toys toys and more toys. Like the balls and rabbit chew stuff. I get it, it's great to have stimulation but tunnels are the perfect way to accomplish this. And the hay balls are such a great reminder too. I love this video. I feel like this is such valuable info that is much needed again at this time!! Thanks Scotty!!!
Thanks Jessica ♡
Your videos are awesome and a lifesaver. Thank you for taking the time to make these.
Agree with everything you've talked about. My guinea pigs played with purchased toys when young. As adults they dont touch them. A paper bag, a box, a new tunnel or changing up their play are are what interests them now.
My boys loves the treat ball. Especially when I put the vit C candies inside. They are like little football players. Thank you Scotty for another amazing video!
My 4 piggies love their treat ball too!!! I like the one you can adjust the size of the openings depending on the type of treat. As long as their is something in there they will take turn pushing it with their nose... it is very cute and entertaining to watch.
I also use some mini cat toy balls in metal mesh... stuff it with herbs and fresh vegies, it makes them work for their food. They seem to enjoy being busy trying to pull every bits out. I used to give each one a ball but found that the most fun is to give 2 balls for the 4 of them. They actually work in team by pulling on each side and get the goods quicker that way. Sooooo cute!
i feel my Guineas like the sticks because they will go up and down with their head. its very funny also cute ❤❤
Lol pipsqueak always telling secrets with Nate!!🤣🤣 it is so funny! I always think that they are gossiping over there lol
Billy is such a beautiful piggie! So soft and cuddly! Our boys like small stuffed balls and tiny flat toys, like a little peeps candy-looking bunny that they use like pillows...adorable. The balls are easy to roll, our Peanut uses one to lean on while he eats his hay. Our angel piggie, Cody, had a long-term romantic relationship with a fuzzy little pumpkin toy...Cody was such a sweet boy... Our other angel pig, our first gpig, Toby, loved to play with toys, he would move them around the cage with his nose, rolling them. You might look over at the cage and see the top of a toy moving along seemingly by itself. We have 2 young boars now, Ozzie and Peanut, such beautiful little guys. They bring a lot of joy (and craziness now that they are adolescents) into our lives. Thanks and keep up the great videos, Scott, I love to learn and do what's best for my boys! Thank you!
SO thankful someone told me to check you out. We just got 2 piggies and i am new to this BUT been educating myself watching and I have them honey sticks someone gave me 3 packs of them and my piggies love them BUT i took it out just now seeing this video. I do NOT want to risk them choking! thank you scotty !!!
While watching this video I got a great idea for the hamster balls. Yes they hated the things. Luckily, I didn’t just toss em in the trash. I was able to turn them into partial underground homes for my piggies that they love.
The round bottom can hury their backs but if its cut off maybe. Air flow can also be a problem with igloos and plastic enclosures
I can’t eat this??? Get it out of here! “ the exact words of my gpigs daily LMAO
My pigs like paper bags, cardboard boxes, and paper towel tubes. The only apple sticks they will chew are from Farmer Dave's pet supplies.
