  • Every gardener knows that composting is the best way to improve the soil in your garden turn your garden waste into food for next years plants, better than anything you can buy in the shops. But not all gardeners have the space to make a compost bin and sometimes they are not even allowed to, with some local municipality laws, etc. "Trench composting eliminates all those problems and it provides food right where your plants need it, at their roots.       @@thejasn6209 I dug in some kitchen scraps and some bug-eaten apples in the fall, and by spring when I dug holes for planting there were only earthworms.

    Can this be done all throughout winter? I have just installed two raised beds and want to fill them with soil and do this method! Thanks for the videos! Ciao from italia!

    The oldest technic of composting always have is place ! I do tranche composting mainly to feed my garden worms . They are fat and health as the plants .

    It's a really good idea, and I'd like to try it, but I'm worried about critters digging it all up. What is your experience?

      So, I haven't had any problem so far when I have done it. I live in a pretty rural area (I had a bear in my bins the other week!)

    I have raised beds as well, can the trench be down the middle of the bed? both sides?

      Yes it can be anywhere you want. I have put it where it is because I am going to plant beans along that line. You can dig a series of trenches, where you are likely to plant your veg /flowers and fill them out throughout the autumn/winter.
