I am sailing on April 30 (only 4 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!) on Nieuw Amsterdam out of Vancouver. I booked it last May and am glad I did. I travel solo, but paid just over $1300 for a balcony (albeit with a metal balcony rail), so that would have been less than $700 per person for a couple. Adding in excursions and all the other extras, it is a lot more, but it will be a once in a lifetime trip for me!

I'm sailing Alaska this year. I chose an inside cabin. I'm a light sleeper and since I'm sailing during a month that has the longest daylight hours, I felt this was my best option to get quality sleep. I prefer to be out of my cabin most of the time so a balcony or an oceanview is not as important as quality sleep.

most Alaska cruises are once in a lifetime events. if you cant afford a balcony DO NOT GO, save for another year. a couple years ago my wife ans i did a carnival cruise for 10 days and 4 days in seattle and we had to fly from the east coast. it was fantastic. THE BILL WAS RIGHT AT $5000.TOTAL WE WENT THE MIDDLE OF JULY AND YES IT IS STILL COLD.

There are people who will miss out doing an Alaskan cruise if they can’t afford a balcony cabin. An inside cabin allows better sleep for those who need the dark quiet to sleep. There is a lot of daylight hours in Alaska. I say sleep in the cabin and spend the hours up on deck or inside public space. There are always fabulous quiet places to sit near a big window and watch the scenery go by without it being from your personal balcony.

My wife & I are sailing on the Royal Princess to Alaska in June 2023.
It is pricey; about $8,000! This includes airfare, a Hotel Rm one day before we sail, a Balcony Rm on the Ship, and the Excursions!
    It’s WORTH IT!!!

Me and my wife are doing a 14 day 6 port trip with Carnival in mid-September. And this is the breakdown of what it will cost us.
OV cabin, tax, fees, grats : $3,400
    ( $121 Per Person Per Day )
    6 shore excursions each : $1,400
    ( Avg of $116 Per ticket )
Travel to and from Port : $350
Budget for on ship and at port spending : ~$1,000
So let's round up and call it $6,200 all in for 2 people on a 14-day cruise. For a big trip like this, we start planning and saving a year in advance. But for the glory that is Alaska, it's so worth it!

We are sailing on Celebrity Solstice in September. Our practice is to book an inside cabin-you can admire the views from around the ship. Save a lot of money by not drinking, gambling, or booking expensive excursions. A bucket list post retirement trip. Rather go on more cruises than spend everything on one sailing

I and the boss , the wife are booked out of Seattle Washington on the NCL Bliss for an Alaska cruise the last week of April. I am estimating the total cost a little over 7000 dollars. Every thing you said about cost bear out with my experience so far.

Nice video. We're headed to Alaska at the end of next month on Ovation of the Seas. Since we booked a year out we got a great deal for our 7 night cruise in a balcony room ($3100). The biggest way to save $ on a cruise is to book it as far in advance as possible. The 2nd is booking those excursions through someone else other than the cruise line. For example when in Juneau we are doing the dog sledding excursion with additional glacier landing. A similar excursion with Royal was $1200 per person and might I add didn't come with the additional landing on the glacier. By booking through a tour company we ended up paying $750 saving almost $450 per person. So in theory if you do your research through RUclips videos like these and others you can find yourself saving big bucks.

Bottom line: it is way too much money for a typical one-week cruise in that overhyped region. That same money could buy me five weeks in the Caribbean....

Are you aware that Norwegian offers a 16 day repositioning cruise that combines Alaska and Hawaii. I realize it's not Tahiti, but the inside cabin is only $899 now.
They package we got has free airfare for my husband, 300 mins. of WiFi,, 2 specialty dining meals, and open bar. We sail out of Vancouver on Aug. 30th

G'day Don, Nope, no thanks. I think we'll stay here in 'sunny most of the year' Tasmania, one of the biggest cruise line destinations in Australia. Now that we're retired; every day is 'vacation' for us... and it's magnificent!
If you do make it to Tasmania on a cruise ship you'll find the excursion costs among the cheapest in the world with a huge choice of activities and scenery that can't be seen anywhere else. Cheers, Bill H. Hobart, TAS.

Just 1 more month til we go on the Solstice and in Aquaclass for the 1st time so with everything including excursions and flights, I think I ended up around $7000 since we booked everything through Celebrity.

There are a lot of great ships in the region. It really depends what you are looking for in terms of amenities. We do recommend an itinerary that goes through Glacier Bay National Park. That is a must. We do like Holland America Line and Celebrity Cruises. But, all lines do a great job. We have a cruise scheduled in September on the Ruby Princess out of SF. We booked a mini suite club. Including airfare, excursions and transportation to the airport one way, it’s costing about $11,000 for the cruise. We’re staying with mom a few days before the cruise so we’re saving money on hotel stay.

Thanks for your info. Can we book the short excursions through the company itself? Not through the cruise line as we understand it’s so much expensive? If so, do you have any recommendations on the land tours? Which companies that are good and worth it? Thank you.

    • @Eatsleepcruise1
      @Eatsleepcruise1  Год назад +1

You can book private tours, but some providers work only with the cruise lines. So, you’ll have to check about the specific excursions you want to do. Happy cruising.

The low end of the your pricing at the end of the video isn't 100% accurate. On top of the $800 cruise fare, you have to add gratuities and taxes and port fees. That will run you a minimum of $400 per person for a couple.
