⭐What are your favorite items to thrift? Did you like coming along with me thrifting? Enjoy this episode? You'll love this: ruclips.net/video/b9Gb9pDF9fU/видео.html
I always check out artwork and frames, housewares, furniture, jewelry, books and music. I don't have the patience or interest to dig through clothes unless I am building a Halloween costume (found a perfect orange turtleneck when I was Velma Dinkley from Scooby Doo), although one day my husband and I found a shipment of brand new dress shirts and suits that had been donated from an upscale men's shop and we snatched up a shirt and jacket for him.
Since I and everyone I know have enough, I look for glass items I can use for a gift (e.g. cookie plate or candy dish), frames, lace, jewelry for craft embellishments (but rarely find anything cheap enough) and I browse for an impulse buy. We have a "Buy Nothing" giveaway community here, so I watch for free items.
I think your gonna make a lamp post
Ooh!! I have those brass candle sticks from pottery barn that are about 30 yrs old. How much are they at the thrift store? Just curious. 😜🤗
I Love the post!!! I Love the lamp too!!!
The art with the 'Monet vibe' as you call it, is actually a print of a Monet painting. I collect Monet prints that I have picked up at thrift stores so I recognized it immediately. I have about seven different ones in gilt frames so far. They fit right in my house along with some of my French grandmother's oil paintings. She was an artist in her own right and even had gallery showings of her original artwork when she was still alive.
Oh Kelly, I'm so happy for your Ray this IS a miracle. When I heard you say the cancer is gone (almost) I cried. The City Of Hope is a great place to be. And he will beat this with everyone praying for your family. The power of prayer does work. I wish I could give you a big hug but sending you a virtual one. So happy for you all.
To remove Sharpie from wood, use rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, nail polish remover, hairspray, or a magic eraser. Other options are baking soda(mixed to a paste), toothpaste, or a dry-erase board cleaner. Apply the product with a small dab on a towel or cotton ball, make sure to test it in an inconspicuous area first.
Or Goo Gone works AMAZINGLY! Two applications, leaving the product on for 90 seconds each time, prior to wiping off with a dry washcloth only. *Obviously, I do this often, lol
😅😅
Antique dictionaries tend to have beautiful illustrations.
Yes!!!
Natalee, your Pottery Barn dupes beat the Pottery Barn ones hands down. You are so creative and turn these flips into beautiful home decor. Thanks for all you share with us.
Thank you so much!
You’re my favorite DIY RUclipsr. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!!
Wow, thank you!
@@designedtothenines
As far as the broken candle stick, soldiering def will work.
The other option is UV resin, it cures instantly under the UV lamp and is very strong. 😊 hope this helps.
@@designedtothenines take your time on the clock, search for clocks u like, antique or not, then makeover yours as u c fit.
That was a super fun video, I LOVE the pillar candlesticks! The clock isn't an antique so if you want to paint it I wouldn't let anyone make you feel bad about it. 🥰
This was a fun video to watch. Loved the white floral arrangement. I'm at an age where a lot of the "trends" are what was popular in years past. (Brass items, mushrooms, gold frames, etc.) But, it's still fun to see these items get a bit of a modern touch. You're a very talented (powerful) woman with interesting ideas and good taste!
I could totally relate with that statement about feeling somewhat like a hoarder when you have several projects you’re working on! 😁😁 And you look wonderful! I hope that you’re continuing to feel better! Love your videos! Here I am on a Friday night hanging out at home watching Design to the Nines! Your channel is a feel good channel! ❤
Love that! Thanks for spending Friday night with me!
I think the pink brass pitcher is perfect, especially filled with pee-uh-knees (that’s how we say it in our parts). The candle sticks are gorgeous! The clock is not an antique so I’d go for it. It would be a great piece to practice IOD paint inlays on. Nice to see you looking like yourself.
Thank you so much for being kind about that. I get so many people who are angry with the way I say peonies. It’s just how I was raised lol.🥰 Thanks so much.
@@designedtothenines I was hoping mine didn’t read unkind the way I phrased it. My mom said it the way you do but my dad’s people said it differently and that’s what I picked up. I don’t know why people need to be unkind. You just be you, which is awesome. You’re so kind to share your talents and knowledge and make videos for us. ❤️❤️❤️
Love this video!!! Your channel is one of my favorites!!!
Peonies are my favorite flower no matter how it’s pronounced. You are nothing short of fabulous- don’t give the keyboard critics any head space
Your style and taste totally compliment and complement your amazing talent! Oh, and flip the clock! Do something spectacular with it and have fun! Thanks for all you do and always being YOU!
I love thrifting the wood . . . well, anything in wood!
It’s good that you removed the beads because everybody is using the beads right now I see them everywhere. Nice to see something different.❤
Your lamp makeover looks better than the Pottery Barn lamp! And maybe for the broken brass candle stick you could make a little wooden base to attach and paint it a fun color! And your tall wooden candle sticks might even work placed directly on the floor with a plant or potted flowers to create a little vignette near the fireplace. All your makeovers are beautiful!
They all turned out great! I can’t wait to see what you do with the clock. 😉
I'd love to see the clock painted black and then put beautiful IOD transfers on it. Love all of your projects and enjoy your upbeat personality.
I can't stop buying those little handmade pottery bowls. They're all over our house...soap dishes, laundry change, keys. I may be hoarding them. 😁
I love the pillar candle sticks! Definitely would buy these! The little brass one can be fixed with JB Weld. It's great for stuff like that.
That is what I was going to say! Phenomenal stuff for metal repair!
The big brass bowl would make a pretty hanging light .
Using gold leaf on the frame works well too. Spray the frame red, then add the gold leaf.
Cool suggestion!
NOOOOO no polish
Love the brass patina ❤
Great great thrift haul and flips. Absolutely love those pillar candlesticks, gorgeous!
Use the candle stick inside a flower arrangement…it will stick into some foam…I did the same thing with a real silver candle stick…I cried all day!!!!!!
What you did with the picture frame is genius ! No one looks at the back of pictures 😊 . I love my gold spray paint . I’m going to pick up a can of the krylon 24 K Gold . Love it .
Just get that wall clock working, and leave it in its current state of grace. It’s beautiful don’t change it!
Love love the frame going back to gold and the print with White duct tape.....OOOO DOGGIES YES BEAUTIFUL
Oh gosh! You remind me of …. ME … when I was much younger! I loved re-purposing purchases from thrift shops, etc. and always kept an eye open for items I could improve or change to my liking. Those were fun years!
As the decades roll by, you gradually find you have enough “stuff” (whether it be furniture or decor items) and simply can’t buy another thing for the house.
However, before you know it, grandkids marry and move into their own homes and, if you’re lucky, you can help them with their own interiors and the fun begins all over again! 🇨🇦
I like the brass rings that replaced the wood rings. My favorite could be the lamp. Love it all .
JB Weld for the candle stick.
The pottery bowls are generally fine for food. Glazes don't contain lead. As long as the whole interior is glazed they would be food safe. I make pottery and use all my own bowls for food all the time.
Good to know!
Idea for your broken brass candle stick , drill with metal drill bit on the bottom of stem and stand about a half an inch in , drilling a hole , put a metal
screw about a half inch or smaller through the botton into the stem and stand , tighten the screw , that should keep it tightly together ! Hope that helps !
There are a number of "metal" glues that work really well. J-B Weld 8276 KwikWeld Quick Setting Steel Reinforced Epoxy - Dark Grey 2 oz is a good one. You may be able to salvage that beautiful candlestick. I love your sense of humor in all of your videos!
As always, I enjoyed the remakes and learning about your thrift finds. The brass pitchers were probably donated by ladies my age who were sick of cleaning the brass we decorated with in the 80's and 90's! A paste of Bar Keeper's Friend and hot water works well to clean brass. The bowl of flowers and new brass ring creates a beautiful formal vignette.
So glad you’re feeling better!
Totally redo the clock, NataLee! Just go for it! You don’t ever need to feel bad for painting something. It’s YOURS to do whatever you want to do with it. I’ve got one too and would LOVE to see what you would do to yours so I can do it to mine! 😁
Bar keepers friend cleans any metal finish beautifully. It's cheap too! Like all your projects, especially the lamp.
For the candle stick you could try this, it works in the garden for decorations,so it's weather proof in Florida! Just saying. E600 industrial strength.
I just bought an old clock after watching Canterbury Cottage. Sherry does a lot of fun things with them. I love the candlesticks. You are a "Powerful Woman"!
Like the redos. They have so much charm. I like reusing for out of ordinary.
I would leave the clock alone. I have been taking my old brass items out of the attic and using them in my decor. I love the floral arraignment and the pretty gold frames. The candlesticks you made out of the large pillar turned out great
Love that! Thank you 😊
I’ve used the ketchup for brass and copper. But I’ve always mixed salt in with it. The ketchup isn’t so slimy and the salt has a slight scrubbing effect.
I saw the cutest thing on a trip to TN. Someone had made over a broken mantle clock with a glass door on it. inside the glass door was a poem about why the time set on the non working clock was a special time for them. It was the time of day that the person getting it as a gift had become a mother and it was to her for Mother's Day. Set the hands to a special time for you like your wedding time, birth of your child or a graduation date even. Then find a poem or write your own to match that time and write in the lines about why that time is precious to you.
Thank you so much! Blue Skies Thrift Store is thrilled to be included! Please stop by again, Tues-Sat 10-4.
How fun that you saw this!! 💕
This was a great episode - so glad your back and hope your feeling better! You look stunning so look good feel better? All these projects are beautiful and I like the brass collection on your entry way table. As far as the grandfather clock I would keep it wood as woods (like wood cabinets) are back in style - plus gives you the option to change it later if you want to! ❤
You are so creative! I think you should sell some of your flipped pieces! It will also help make room for more projects!😂
Good afternoon, one thing I love about your thrift items is that you respect the original piece just a touch or two of a new color , I absolutely love your ideas, be blessed ❤❤❤❤❤❤
8:55am. I loved all your classy flips and I think your candlesticks look great where they are!! They balance the topiary on the other end and we get to see them when you’re on video ❤ As always, you’re awesome 😎 😊❤🤗👍💕😍😊
Try taking your brass candle stick to a hardware store and find a thin screw you can mend it with. I live in a small town with a True Value, and I have gone in with different items and had them find me the screw that fits. I usually just have to buy the one screw or just the few that I need! I just love your videos! Such fabulous ideas!
If the screw end is broken off into the candlestick, you can get a reverse-turn bolt remover to get it out, or you could just solder it all back together :) Great finds! Love the idea that you can easily turn lamps into high-end looking decor. They always look so hideous to me when they're old, but now, I might have to look at some new ones for inspiration :)
I might even get a small drill bit and drill out the screw on each end. And find a nail or small round wood piece . Then use glue , place in each end. Hopefully it dries and hold the candle stick together.
I love all the brass and I always have and you did fantastic with decorating the bowl. I'm glad I had you to watch as I'm currently in the hospital unexpectedly. You brought a smile to my face I'm so glad you're feeling better. As for the I think it's gorgeous and I would love to hang it just as it is in my home.
These are all so pretty! I always enjoy seeing your ideas. I tried the ketchup thing on some brass hardware for a cedar chest I’m redoing and had the same issue because it was only brass plated. 😕
As for your broken candlestick, get you some LocTite Steel Stick. It’s a two part epoxy that you just break off and knead the black and gray halves together. I’ve used it with wonderful success many times. It is meant for metals and heavy duty repairs. You might want to wear a pair of disposable gloves when using it, but I find it much easier to use and shape without them - obviously just wash well afterwards. It’s really inexpensive (get it at Lowe’s or Home Depot), and it’s great to have on hand for all kinds of repairs. 🙂
Edit: I’d love to see what you can do with the clock! It’s yours now - do what you want and don’t worry about what others might prefer. 🙂
Paint the clock and give it a shabby chic look and I think it'll go with your decor versus the brown. Love your videos.
It's always a pleasure to go shopping with you at the thrift stores. Ours are way overpriced.
You could try J-B Weld it comes in 2 tubes that you mix the amount you need. It is a strong epoxy that can glue metal. I glued a broken wrought iron piece together for me, that has lasted for years.
I love the pinkness of copper!
Screw extractor for the broken screw. Take both pieces to the hardware store to match for a new screw. Loved all the flips. The only thing I would do on the clock is to possibly add a lacy design on the glass front, with etching cream. You would still be able to see the pendulum, but all the "dead space" would be filled and decorative. Great video. So happy you are feeling better.
Love the table with the brass accessories!
I love the white flower arrangement in brass along with the gold framed pictures. I had a clock similar to yours and it was going to be throw away so I put shelves in it and now it's so adorable. I also painted it. I figured it was ok since it was going to the landfill anyway. you are very talented and creative!
Love, love the lamp you painted black to greyish look;; is amazing. Look’s good with the items on you’re table, or whatever it is. I knew you were going to cut that big leg. Good job on that to. So Sory on that candle stick.😢 Loving the flower bowl. I think you maybe leave the clock, until someone comes up with something you really like. Love you, I find you to be a very cheery person, you’ve made me giggle several times. I love that you’re a normal person, not fake like a few I’ve seen. I think this is who you are.,and we all love you more for it. Take care ❤️🥰
Thrift flips are the best! I see junk, you see potential. Then you make it cool.
Hi Natalie, I loved the candle sticks. They are amazing. I love the peony flower arrangement also. I am amazed how you can look at things and envision the What it can be. I would go for the clock flip, Look forward to more thrift and flip with you.
Try JB Weld for your broken candle Stick. If it doesn’t work, you can always stick the usable end in flower arrangements!
NataLee the lamp looking better much better than the PotteryBarn. Brass turned to pink LOVE IT. I am definetelly trying the ketchup. The entry table perferct. I would only do one thing to it add one pink Peoni into the white arrangement. Peoni is you everybody should see it as they enter your home. 😍🤩
Love your ideas! Definite inspiration ❤
Dress up that beautiful wall clock 🕰️ I would❤❤❤❤
Love the candlesticks!
I believe your little “grandfather” clock is actually a Grandmother clock when it’s small & hung on the wall. I actually had a large grandfather clock from the Black Forest. We were always told that the little wall units were Grandmother clocks. 💕
Candlesticks are beautifully done!
I knew the minute I saw that pillar, it would be going home with you! Quite the find… loved how the candlesticks turned out.
Love the grouping!!!
You know I love your ideas soooo much! Spray the clock with gold and then some rub and buff to tone it down. Can't wait to see what you do next! 🤩 Can you take the screw parts out and replace?
I wonder! 💕
Love your channel !!!!❤❤
I love all the brass! It looks great.
Love your videos ❤
to remove sharpie from wood, also try white vinager with baking soda.
Thank you for your inspiration
I love the candle pillars. Everything is so nice.
I loved all !!!
Love everything you do and thank you for sharing. Great ideas.
That lamp is stunning!
Love the candlesticks. I agree, paint clock and give it a different use.❤❤
Loved all the flips.👏
I've been trying to declutter, but I would not have been able to resist that scalloped brass bowl!
Love the brass ring over wood beads.
Thank you for sharing. Lovely results ... as usual.
I love the brass rings! You are incredibly talented and I your smile always makes me happy 😊
You're the best!😁💕
What a fun video! Love watching thrift flips.😍
I loved everything you did. I love gold frames, too!!! So classy!!!
And don't forget, you also have a big piece leftover from that pillar too! So, not just 2 candlesticks for $40, a big piece of wood leftover too! Can't wait to see where you sneak the leftovers in! 💖🙂
Very true! Thank you 🙏
Flip the clock, loved the brass cleaner tip and all the flips are so great! If the clock was one of the large standing grandfathers clock I’d say find a clock repair person and don’t you do anything but maintain it but it’s a reproduction for the wall it isn’t a true antique. Flip it sweetie make it your own! Love your content I look forward to seeing you and your creativity every week!
I love those candle sticks so amazing
I love your floral arrangements!!! I especially love the peonies in the frame next to the arrangement!
Love your videos. My favorite item...the brass bowl with white flowers.
Thank you so much!
I like the pillars look good where they are. Maybe make a wood ledge to put under your art to raise it up a hair and it would tie it all in.
It's so nice to get videos from you again. I am so happy that you're feeling well enough to do them. You look fabulous btw! I just love this table entryway! So classy looking! Do you remember where you got the peony bunch by chance?
Oh thank you! It feels good to feel better!
You always find great stuff.
I love the wooden candlesticks!
A lamppost of coarse! I love your DIY's! Thanks for sharing and always inspiring us!
Love your thrift store finds especially your pitcher
The brass still looks pretty.
I think the grandfather clock would look good painted and maybe a floral printed wallpaper or decal inside behind where the pendulum hangs.
Great haul. Plus your diys turned out so beautiful. Thanks for sharing, Natalee❤
