I remember finishing the SL manwah so long ago, I remember hating my life always going to sleep hoping I'd wake up and something would magically change, hoping I'd wake up and get some power. I remember re-reading it again just before the anime got released and after starting this self improvement journey my perspective shifted completely, I started seeing some lesson to improve in everything. I made a daily schedule for 4 non-negotiables that I had to do first thing after I wake up and center the rest of my day around that, I realized jinwoo couldn't improve all his skills and had to invest his points only into a few and having to work around the shortcomings of his build etc... Every story has lessons if you follow them with the goal of learning from them is something I came to realize.

Try to do one thing that you really don't want to do every day. I took this advice from king Henry. I know ppl don't take him seriously but he has insane commitment abilities and discipline. But anyways by doing something you really don't want to do makes difficult things become easier to do. It could be doing the Stairmaster at the gym and running. For me it's taking an ice cold shower that I almost get brain freeze from. It's actually excruciating and I would rather take a hot warm shower. But the feeling after taking a cold shower is incomparable. I feel like anything else that doesn't give me instant gratification is much easier to do as I compare it to having taken a cold shower. Studying, working out and reading books etc.
If all you do is watch anime or eat snacks all day and try to do something productive, you will compare that to the pleasures you had during the day. I'm definitely not consistent, but it's a start and I've done this method every time I need to lock in for exams. It's a little bit of this with Sung Jin Woo, what kept him going in the start was comparing his difficulties to the double dungeon and nothing could compare.
It's the same with people who were traumatized or had struggles with poverty when they were young, they have a much higher chance to use that as a drive to accomplish anything. I know this is a very long reach in comparison, but this still applies to doing something excruciating every day, but this time you're separating the difficulties in manageable chunks every day. When I try to study something really hard, I don't consciously think that it's nothing in comparison to the cold shower I took before, but I do it subconsciously.

Except the system we have doesn't automatically keep us accountable if we don't hit our process goals aka sending us to the penalty zone. Which is good ol punishment/extrinsic motivation btw. So I would argue that we don't actually have Jinwoo's type of system, which is more similar to what you'd get in the army or a strict high school.

for those who doesn't understand what he says about why you "have the system" already is that you can always gain "xp" and level up through practising of the goals in life for example you can gain strength abillity points through working out.
You can gain intelligence through studying. you can get agility by doing cardio ect. Although the manwah shows incredible progress in short time reality is unfortunately slow.
But you do have the system. You just never did the work/quest that the system has for you. good luck brother, keep consistant

I found my inner ai, and I finally became proud of myself. I found my way in life due to level 64 Elias, and caught the refrigerator, when it had nearly bested me. I want to share a tip with you and everyone here that gets anxiety about starting training or working out around others. It is a tip I actually picked up in the service industry that was extremely effective in changing my own mindset with regard to getting out there. When I started, like many others, I would always panic that others were judging me or secretly laughing etc. This made it almost impossible for me to train around others, That is until I started to think about them in a better way. When I was out training, a run out-doors for example, When I passed a stranger rather than think about all the possible negative thoughts I would always assume they had, I would instead tell myself that I was getting stronger for them, that they are just like me and that a strong population is a happy population. And if seeing me rise from my weakest point can inspire others to follow this goal then its all worth it in the end.
Can't tell ya how many extra Kilometres I've made it on these thoughts alone, each hurdle now becomes a launch pad propelling you to greater heights.
Give it a try and believe in yourselves. 😃

I think i actually did a jinwoo here
I was always a weak scared little kid and i would get bullied in school
But than i found out the solo leveling manhwa
Than one day a thought went into my head
Jin woo wasnt always courage and strong but built it up
So i made life my little game of leveling up
I started with cardio and pushups
(I went from not being able to run a min to running 10k ) and pushups from 0 i couldnt do a pushup to save my life to now about 40 in a row
I did weight lifting and increased my weight from 60 kg to 85 kg (iam 192 cm btw)
And now iam doing kickboxing and learning to fight while simultaneously studying to be a doctor
I realized that its magic its not giving up
There is not one skill in the entire world that is not learnable
So you just have to accept that you will suck at first than improve With time and
: stand up there is no shame in falling down true shame is not standing back up again

Touch a thistle timidly and it pricks you… grasp it boldly and its spines crumble.
All problems become smaller if you don’t dodge them but confront them.
This is exemplified in the moment after he leaves the first instant dungeon.
There is a dungeon break and he sees the old B rank healer there struggling.
For a moment Jin Woo says ‘of course she’s struggling, it hasn’t been long since the incident. I’m the same way.’
Then he stops himself and says no I’m different, I’m no longer the same person I was.
And he throws the broken sword and takes down the monster.
It’s like in the beginning, Jin Woo is constantly having to face his fears, confront his trauma, and defeat enemies that are insanely more powerful than he is.
It reminds of the quote from Jordan Peterson: ‘the pathway to less suffering is through suffering.’
Touch a thistle timidly and it pricks you… grasp it boldly and its spines crumble.
All problems become smaller if you don’t dodge them but confront them.
And that’s the real power of the main character. He’s constantly forced to confront his fears and take on bigger challenges, each one seems even more impossible.
But he confronts it head on rather than running away.
Same thing when he was just a E rank, he was going into near death situations everyday despite his low power level
And that’s truly how you change your life.
Just like lifting, you can’t get stronger unless you overcome some resistance.
Your fears get larger the more you run from them, and smaller the more you face them forthrightly with courage.
Just take it one day at a time, one decision at a time, and commit yourself to it.
You don’t need to know how, you just need the commitment and determination to find a way.
“Nothing can resist the human will that will stake even its existence in its stated purpose.”
    - Benjamin Disraeli

Destroyed the subscribe button!!! (Take this from me, I don't easily subscribe on RUclips, even a small hint of bullshit keeps me away from a channel that is doing pretty decent videos..)

Did we even read/watch the same series ?????
Jinwo was a complete loser and that never changed.
The only thing that improved in the series was his appearance and social status ( which wasn't earned by him in any way, shape, or form). His personaly became even more deranged and his outlook on society became cynical at best.
My man is a text book example of the fantasies lost teenagers have, its a little concerning that people have him as a role model.

    You can't improve yourself. Why?
    1. Because the self that needs improvement is supposed to do the improving, which can't work
    2. I you want to improve yourself, then you ought to know what's good for you. But obviously you don't. Because if you did, you'd already *be* improved

This just doesn't make sense at all lol, the self that needs improvement can absolutely improve. Go for a run, then do the same run a few days later, it'll be faster the second time. And that's just one example lol

@@LessonsFromAnime There's a difference between wanting to improve at something and wanting to improve yourself. The desire to improve yourself always comes from a position of (imaginary) lack while the desire to improve at something is the desire to grow, which is universal

it's a power fantasy after all with a vengefull spirit so he only grows in level only

      Couple takeaways from that comment.
If you found out an S rank(which has been defined as the rarest of rare and on a power scale seemingly insurmountable) suddenly wants to murder you with no idea when or where it could happen and all you are trying to do is survive and take care of your family and you were given a once in a lifetime chance to make a change for once, would you (intellectually honestly) be able to actually put your hand to the plow and NOT end up power hungry? Food for thought.
In addition, regardless of how he turns out in the end should NOT negate the lessons you can extract and APPLY to your life. It's a practice called "grocery store mentality". Take what you want/need, leave the rest if its not for you.
Hopefully you can look beyond just the negative takeaways in this manwha as well as other things(because how you do 1 thing is how you do everything).
      All the best

Also just as a bonus, I dont WANT to have the personality of someone who is weak and accepts his fate so im cool with becoming a better version of myself if it means I can have what I want without sacrificing my family on the altar of success. Its a matter of finding the right vehicle and the right people to help you navigate the terrain.
The difference between his system and ours is we have many systems to choose from. Be wise in selecting yours and be open minded to opportunity even if it goes everything you thought you knew to be correct(see Blue Lock)

What? No. Strongly disagree. The man's whole conviction is his family, especially his mom, which was the driving force behind him climb the demon tower. His desire to grow stronger doesn't come from the self-centered notion of "I need to be the strongest because that's what I want." It comes from the desire of "I need to be the strongest to protect the people I care about." The man literally threatened to make an enemy out of every hunter in Korea if they went after his father. Another really good example is when there's a dungeon break and the orcs raid his sister's school and begin a slaughter spree. There's also when Hwang Dongsoo gravely injured Jinho, who Jinwoo considered to be his brother. He put Dongsoo in a full body cast, even though he was an S-rank hunter and taught him actions have consequences when you mess with the people close to him.
He instantly exchanges with a shadow he had already previously assigned to his sister, just to be there within an instant and prevent any further tragedy. He butchered those orcs and had them so afraid that they were ready to turn tail and sprint back through the gate, which is insane, because it goes against everything in their nature and all that they stand for as brutal warriors who engage in fierce combat. Simply put, Jinwoo is a family man, and anyone who even tried to mess with his family found out real quick what it means to dance with death.
