What a tragic end to Max Linder. I can't believe that Charlie Chaplin lived another 60 years after this was filmed. What a shame there's no audio to it.
Significant! In front of the cab, starting at :46, they point to the camera, acknowledge us watching. Then, aren't Chaplin and Linder showing each other their mastery of each other's signature moves? I didn't know that was what Chaplin was doing, until Linder made a gesture, "Now I'll do you," and imitated the Tramp's famous walk. Then Chaplin does Linder, the French dandy again. What's significant is Chaplin plainly has studied Linder and has him down cold.
Chaplin is very nice, funny man with intelligence. And before him there was another, Mr. Max Linder. Devotee: Max Linder. Prabhupāda: Yes. He was also very funny Englishman. In our childhood we used to enjoy their play, Max Linder and Chaplin, or Charlie Chaplin. Devotee: They were showing them in India? Prabhupāda: Uh? Yes. Max Linder, I remember, he was sitting in a park. (laughter) You know that? Devotee: I don't know anything about it. Prabhupāda: He was sitting in a park, so that English dress, that tail coat? What is called? Devotee: Coattails, yeah.
Clearly they had a mutual admiration of each other. So nice to see this!
How utterly wonderful this footage is? The early passing of the brilliant Max Linder remains one of the greatest tragedies cinema art has ever known.

Charlie Chaplin's movies I've watched since I was 5 years old and now I'm 54 years old and I'm still laughing, God bless you, Charlie.
Two talented and handsome guys🥰🥰
Ah, comedy transcends any language barrier those two may have had.

Always thought that music seemed to be styled on 'all night long' another popular song of the era
As meetings go, this one seems to have been rather amicable.
Have always wanted to know what Max Linder’s voice sounded like. Was there ever any description?
Los leader de la comedia de entonces...
the picture of both at the end is taken on the set of "the adventurer"
Too bad Max Linder's style was too European for American tastes, so his career in Hollywood wasn't very successful.
