This is a really special channel and special project. I wish you would upload more often.
Me too. Have said this from day one
It's my favorite channel.
@@lilbitofjoy6130thank you
@@mykuntstynx9463appreciate that! You need a badge for that
Yep, YT promotes more based on channel uploads and activity.
I follow lots of restoration channel but none are quite like this. That's how youll pay for this.
But you need to stop going so long between uploading. You might not have any construction experience but your personalities bounce off each other so so well... the strange English man and the bossy American wife buying a castle in Texas.
Tell the story. We will watch until the end.
Agree. That "Escape to Rural France" guy does a short 10 minute video update every single day Monday to Friday. He's now got 500k subscribers so will be raking it in. We'd all watch updates here. Things they probably think would bore us. Cutting the grass. The contractors turning up. Demolition. Painting the gates. Anything. But all those views will bring in much needed $$$$$ (and sponsorship).
@TheGramophoneGirl he doesn't do so often at times. I agree though that regular uploads should be done...need to create a regular audience.❤ Put atleast weekly on air.
@@jeanwoodhouse8899 A weekly update would work - even if they think it's mundane content it will still be interesting to most of us. And above all, they'll be earning views and $$$$ for each video.
He had a visit from Brent fromGhost Town Living which is how I got here. Post more please!
The algorithms say: post more often! More frequent posts= more views, more, likes, more comments...all of these lead to RUclips showing folks who follow similar channels, your channel!
Have a cup of tea, and post more often my friend.
As a neighbor, you are putting our little town of Santa Fe on the world map. Maybe the town of Santa Fe should donate to your cause!!!
Yeah I love Lorenzo’s!

I felt a little funny, but I was worried too!
I live in Santa Fe I see the castle every day it’s amazing to see someone finally do something with it ❤️
Thanks alot Darren. Always nice to hear from a neighbor on here
Dude, you are the solution! Post, post, post, and they will come. As I read through the comments, the viewers love you and your wife! Instead of focusing on car shows, invite viewers to a DIY weekend. Provide camping spots, and they will come!
Great idea.
If he builds it, they will come!.

Just like Brett, ghost town living
You should keep the Lightbulb of Hope and make a small exhibit for it in the castle.
The lightbulb of hope is still in that lamp!
money ideas: 1) merch, 2) find a tea wholesaler and sell some castle teas, 3) one video each 2 weeks (I could watch so much more of this even if it isnt exciting), 4) build a sponsor wall somewhere that adds donors names to the 'history'
Love all those ideas. Thank you

I would recommend draining the floor and if possible, laying down a concrete slab to build up off of. Possibly add some form of roof cover structure to redirect the water away from the roof.
Thank you mate
As someone that thought they had a money pit of a house that we purchased (think lipstick on the pig, but they did a great job of camouflaging the pig. It didn't show itself until about 6 months after we moved in) you make me grateful that I am only dealing with a 1900 sq ft "castle". Much luck! Love the channel. Oh by the way - we are now almost 20 years into working on the place. We just finished pumping the water out of our crawl space, putting in a sump pump and encapsulating it. Get a good plumber in to get sump pumps strategically placed your life will improve significantly and make sure they run the water discharge as far away from the house as possible.
So incredible, you courage, your humor, perseverance. Love you both! I finally figured out how to subscribe to your channel. Yeah!

I don't have a castle but I did have significant water damage in my house. Floors and walls were stripped and I lived in concrete construction dust and stud walls for a few months while things dried, then another few months of rebuilding (in the process my chimney fell off the house taking the porch with it). I felt a bit hopeless during the whole process. But the highlight of the disaster was getting to know the crews who helped rebuild my home. I got to bring them cases of water, Gatorade, and occasionally they let me buy them lunch. We'd chit chat, wave and smile throughout the days. In turn i got some laughter and a bit of hope. It genuinely helped a lot.
As for your money situation, perhaps posting more on YT or even posting tiktoks would help. Ive heard tiktok can be lucrative and renovation stuff seems to be pretty popular there. Have you tried looking into getting the castle deemed a historic site? Not sure what it takes but it might allow you some grant money for renovations.
Try not to get too discouraged. All will work out in the end. Sending hope and hugs from San Antonio, TX ❤
Hello there. Thanks so much.
Yes we are on the register so will get a percentage back from restoration cost.
How is your house now? Is it finished?
@@MoneyPitCastle hi! Yes, house is finished. It took nearly a year but I had one contractor who's two man crew quit on him mid summer. The contractor ended up working alone on much of the outside of the house until he picked up one other guy who was willing to work in the Texas heat, So a very small crew. But the house is finished and it's not only beautiful but it's safe, energy efficient, and up to code lol. I truly hope you guys get to enjoy your completed castle sooner rather than later. It's definitely worth the heartache and frustration. Hug your missus and together you'll get through it with a lighter heart ❤️

It's not as bad as it looks, bit of paper towel and a cup tea all will be right with the world. I was just looking at your channel last week thinking, should I poke him to upload lol
That's right! We have done the grading and it made a huge difference
@@MoneyPitCastle people like watching installation of beams, joists and noggins, just ask a few of the Chateau guys they get a lot of views on those video's. Make sure you film a lot of that, it helps pay for the wood and steels. take a look at Dan's Channel & Billy's Channel and have a cup of tea - Dan (escape to France) just finished his last floor and Billy (The Petherick's) just started the floor in the Library. Dan will be starting on his roof soon, a complete ruin rebuild due to fire.
If those two can do it, you and your wife can too, don't be discouraged. I felt your frustration when you showed the main floor ripped up. One bite at a time. You have stopped the water coming in and that is amazing! Well Done!!

Thanks alot! Working on next video as we speak. And yes it might have looked like a mess here but it smelt so much better lol
You probably need to regrade the dirt around the foundation. Make sure it slopes away from the structure so you won’t get any water coming in through the foundation.
Thanks alot. Exactly what we did. It's better but not perfect. There's a few other areas we are working on this week
@@MoneyPitCastle Another, unfortunately more expensive option, would be to install French drains to carry the water away from the structure. I don’t know what type of soil you have there so the best solution would be determined by the perk rate of the soil. Best of luck.
Really need that water intrusion to be fixed . 2 days is a long time to be pumping water. Need a faster pump or the same water you’re pumping out is making it back in
Thanks! Yes we did the grading and made a huge difference.
@@MoneyPitCastle It's still way too much water. Any water is too much. This should have been your first order of business.
YES!! It works... :D Good Luck.. Am so excited..!
Yay! Thank you!
Always fix the water issues first. Foundation first to see if worth saving building. Get the water away from the house. Drainage to a pond etc. Then replace roof. Then strip walls to see all the problems. Fix structural issues then plumbing, then electrical. Then the finish work.
Half of a million dollars later
We needed to do it in reverse. Can't replace the roof until the structure is right. We need to do all that first and the replace the roof.
@@MoneyPitCastle Have you thought about a go fund me to cover some of the expenses? You can get a sump pump and dig a hole to get rid of the standing water. Goodluck with the place. It will take a lot of time and money but potentially it could be worth it. Airbnb you could even rent the place for weddings and events.
@@MoneyPitCastle Flat roof, even new is guaranteed to leak! Put some pitch on the new roof or you will be back with water problems in the future...
@timetravel6 yep. Lots of flat roofs on old homes 🤷♀️ Texas they're always a pain.
