Gladys is not the only one. There are/were about 10 of her level. Each with their specificities..i truely believe There are still many great true Talents in New génération. But they are not what recording companies and producers look for. The last 25 years, what emerged is a bunch of totally untalented girls. They picked cute girls, usually white, arranger some artificial sound and formed girls bands. They are only manufactured products. I do believe There are still hugely talented singers, but they are hard to find. They are preachers " daughters who attended church since baby age. This is probably where to hear them. Their only carrer openings are Gospel ( like Yolanda Adams) or clubs and Jazz festivals. ❤
She hasn’t worn it out with heavy touring or abused her body with drugs and alcohol. Not sure if she ever smoked, but if she did, she quit a long time ago. Those things destroy a voice. Look at BFF Dionne. No voice left at all. Toured constantly for years and has been a smoker for over half a century. Still smokes to this day.
