Sure GT isn't canon, nor does it capture the spirit of the Dragonball franchise... But as an anime it is pretty good. I think if GT were the only Dragonball show in existence, people would have liked it a lot more, because the writing and animation is pretty damn good. It's just sad this show had to be a black sheep, rather than its own series.
GT is good, but it wasn't as good as the other Dragon Ball series and films. GT isn't a black sheep, in my opinion, because it is still Dragon Ball. Everything about Dragon Ball is just legit amazing.
