- The Rio Celeste waterfall is one of the bluest waterfalls we have ever seen. The Rio Celeste Waterfall is located in the Tenorio Volcano National Park which is in the northern part of Costa Rica. We have seen many blue lakes and waterfalls during our time in Alaska but none have been this vibrant. It was even amazing when we walked up the river just a little ways and found a completely brown river. Visiting Rio Celeste is truly a great way to spend some time exploring Costa Rica.

We have left Alaska behind! We moved to Alaska nearly 3 years ago and absolutely loved it. After moving to Alaska however, we quickly realized we wanted even more of an adventure. We decided the next adventure would be a year spent traveling the world.

Rio Celeste looks amazing!
It was!
What is the length of the hike from the park entry? I think I heard it takes two hours each way.
It took us about 2 hours for the whole thing. The first waterfall is only about a 30 minute walk then it’s another 30 minutes or so to get back to where the two rivers merge.
Do you guys suggest touring alone or with a tour guide
We enjoyed being alone and having our own freedom. As long as you feel mostly comfortable on your own I would go for it!
Chances are somewhat low that you would every run into any wild life Josh unless your eating something and they smell it. In Alaska there is only field mice and Alaska's 'state Birds'. I'll bet its humid there. Josh, I think you will find that the people of the Central American Countries and Carribean countries love the tourists money more so than the tourists. It looks really beautiful there.
Haha yes, needless to say we did not run into any jaguars out there.
❤💚💙
Did you use cash or US credit card?
We used a combination. Most places accepted credit card but some were cash only. Specifically buses and other transportation.
The website for Parque Nacional Volcán Tenorio is faulty. I have not been able to make reservations as a result. It is unfortunate because I really wanted to do the Rio Celeste Waterfall Hike.
So interesting that they break the national park fees up by attractions.
Adds up if you are going to see everything, but saves money if you just want to see a few things!
