@@wd8253in America we use the crying emoji as like “crying laughing” and “crying tears of joy” so the commenter was seriously just saying how cute it was then adding crying tears of joy. It’s like when you get proposed to, you cry but you are also happy. Hope this helps 👍👍

Taming is not really necessary but still important for safeness and less stress life for them. Try to imagine, if they living with someone scary them. How stressful that is?

I’m getting my first tokay tomorrow- absolute dream species, and I’m so glad to see they can be calm! I had a feeling they could be tamed, but didn’t know how to go about it. I also love the community here

This actually made me teary eyed. The statement that really got me, and you made it early, was about respect. I wish more of the western world understood this concept. It is completely lost here.
The local store where I buy food and supplies for my leopard gecko recently stocked a tokay, which I am contemplating bringing home. The reptile expert there said he was aggressive, and in doing research I came across your channel. I'm now subscribed, and provided he is still there this weekend, will be bringing that little one home. Not only am I now no longer afraid we won't bond, but I'm more afraid they will not find him a home by telling people he's aggressive!

This is incredibly helpful. Not only for a tokay gecko but I do see the differences in how you approach and handle the tokay compared to a gargoyle gecko for example. Your calm and confidence and respect for the animal make it go so smoothly. That’s the biggest part I’m taking away from this. gamsa haeyo friend!
For reptiles (as ppl think they’re less intelligent being cold blooded) they learn very quickly that you’re not a threat. Day three and he’s not even gaping at you once out.
This is by far the best taming video I’ve seen for Tokay’s and Gecko’s in general. I would love to know what morph that Tokay is, or how you may have went about breeding him/her. This is one of the most gorgeous Tokay’s I’ve ever seen.

this is amazing dude, crazy that this is like the only channel with such calm tokays like this and you have not many views. Also i didn't know tokays have morphs like that, the white and black is gorgeous. I cannot wait to get mine soon, and try to work with them like this.
This video is amazing.. The background music with your phases of handling the tokay kinda made me cry. It kinda tells a story of how a creature filled with rage and anger just needs more time to be respected and understood so you can learn to love it whilst it can learn to love you too.

I found it's easier to tame a second one when it sees the first one at ease. Thank you for showing what is possible with these animals.

Excellent taming video. What morphs are they? In the US, I’ve only seen the blue with orange spots. I think most of them are wild caught here. I think the tokays are the most beautiful geckos. I’d love to get a black and white, and greenish blue like yours!!

When my parents got me a gecko 10 years ago, shop keepers told them that to feed him we'd have to scare him or press his jaws on the sides and then throw dry crickets into his open mouth.
Don't worry. We were smarter than that. And Mr.Spotty is still happy today:)

I have tokay gecko in my care for 4 days now, it's baby so he(?) is flighty. But we are getting there, slowly. I think that because he is so small and scared it will take a little longer than with juvenail, like the one showed in video :) but there is hope!

Do you believe that any tokay is handleable with time and patience?
of course. I had tamed hundred of tokay. some took little time but most of them took 2~3days.
I have the nicest leachies and its cuz i handle them daily and give them positive reinforcement out of my hand like feeding pangea or worms from my hand.

I know you get a lot of comments, but I wanted to share an update:
I had about four days where I was able to get my tokay out of her enclosure (8 mos. old), but progressively, she found herself wanting to escape my hands and hide in a corner. Of course, this heightened the tension and led to a lot of biting. Nothing serious - all of them are healing up fine. But if this is the trend, what is your suggestion to keep moving forward? Obviously not every tokay is going to be tamed in the same way, and ideally, my focus here is not on having a super cuddly pet, but one that trusts me where if I need to move her around, take her to the vet, etc., there isn't that stress. The casual handling is just a nice bonus.
I could see many worries and also love in this comment, so thank you about that. Be friendly with Tokay gecko needs long time in some case (Maybe few weeks or even month). As like in this video, they are basically sensitive when they brought out by human. Just like love has no great methods, There you need are only love and attention (if you know about how to touch them properly). If you watched this video well, you already knew it. Just keep trying to communicate with her. She will observe you and will understand soon. 'This is a good person'.
@@Tokek_Tokek Thank you for taking the time to reply. It means so much. I've found that, surprisingly, she reacts well to me holding her with old fishing gloves. They aren't bulky; they have a bit of a coarse texture to the hands. But she's receptive to this, and very calm. Was able to handle her for about 7 minutes this evening. She loved laying on my arm, licking the air, and then kept running to my back to hangout. Will eventually try without gloves, but if she feels calm and safe this way, it's worth it to me.

Stefan Giroux a lot of people say to check up high like behind Curtains when it comes to tokays. I hope you find it!
He really understood the “game” by day 3. You didn’t have to put him in an uncomfortable position to get him to move hand to hand. He’s so cute. Is there an optimum age to start the taming process? How about the daily sessions? Is there a best time of day to work with your gecko? Do you think female or males are easier to build a bond with? Or are they the same? Will feeding them by tongs as babies help in the taming process? Thank you, this was a very lovely video. I enjoyed it a lot!

We have one at home, he/she is a free range Tokay. I want to make friends and feed him/her. And how to I know if they are male or female?
Our gecko dont mind me or my parents around his area, he/she makes a sound when he/she sees us and maybe he/she remembers whenever I feed or leave some bugs for it.
Do you think they could be a beginner species? I'm pretty sure that's a no but I'm still gonna ask cuz I absolutely LOVE them :)
They definitely arent a beginner species with their temperment, but if you've done the research and know this is what you want and that you can handle it, then get one.

One mine bite me but hurt herserlf on my finger nail. She didnt got infections but I got really scared for her.
(Maybe I should of were learher glove to protect her? )

If your gecko is too small, their bite can break their own bone so must be careful but if your gecko is enough well-grown, that will be fine. Little wound never become a mouth rot or something.

Not sure. Some of them acept only the one who comunicated with them.

The tails on your geckos are beautiful 😍
Tokay geckos need high temperature. Recommand higher than 87f. Cricket might be best feeder for tokay. Then even eat super worm, snail and etc
@@Tokek_Tokek My male seems to stay darker and fired up, he's accepted 2 crickets so far from tongs. I'm trying to get him to accept dubia roaches but no success yet. He seems a little skinny for an adult male. Have you ever used the pre mixed fruit gecko foods?

Its Calico tokay gecko. hard to say about price this type is so rare. I paid 2000$ for him.

@@Meatballsss5 tickle tail means 2 things usually. First is the favor to parents. Second is baiting tail to predator. First thing is showing for only childhood but still guessing first one if you friendly with him enough :)

Hi Tokek, inspired by your video I decided to buy a tokay, but I'm having troubles taming the beast, it's been 5 days and I see no signs of improvement. Picking him up is very messy he's very flighty and very often he jumps on the floor and I have to chase him/ pick him up. At best he gets calm while in my hands and I get to walk him from palm to palm but I still sense that he wants to run away he would jump off if I don't quickly put my hand in front of the one holding him. My gecko is about 1 year 2 months, could age be a problem? thank you
Age is not problem. 1yr is great stage for taming. I also have some New toks and I had cared them almost 2weeks... I never touched them then start to tame them tomorrow. I will record all moments and upload almost everyday. Keep watch my chennel buddy.
