Van is so relaxing. I used to use Casey as an outlet after a long day, but Van has this calming vibe. He doesn't scream or add weird sound effects. He is just Van, and I like that.
Yes and van actually uploads unlike casey but im not complaining i prefer this stuff
Van is smooth as a van
Yes!
@@cz2301 a vehicle
Casey always said he got his style for editing from Van. Different tones. I like both. As I age I prefer Van. It’s like Mr Rogers for adults
Thank you Van Neistat for everything you've taught me. It means a lot more than what you could think. Sincerely...
One thing to note is that this Power Kit uses a 48v system which translates to thinner wires and a safer system compared to the old 12v system.
Ecoflow be like:
“Are we paying this guy to encourage calling our support, instead of just reading the manual”
As an electrician you're definitely smart enough to do the electric on your own but you're also smart for calling someone to do it for you 👍
Don't forget if you have the DOUBLE SIDED SOLAR PANELS, to please put down some type of reflective material on the roof under the solar panels so you can pick up some more charge from the back sides of the solar panels...
He wont forget.
Van could make a video about watching grass grow interesting enough for me to watch.
Everytime time Van uploads a new video, I know it is going to be a good day.
I am so grateful to have this channel in my subs. There is so much content to consume these days, much of it junk.....but Van never disappoints. Always a great post, many of them I watch more than once.
I can watch this guy make a sandwich. Lol his videos are top notch 👌
EcoFlow makes really good tech. I have the Delta that I use at the beach and tailgating and it works great. Durable too.
I don't usually comment, but your videos, even the paid promotions, are always of really high quality, it's just really satisfying to watch.
Excellent as always. Loved the the protection cupboard you did! Cant believe you are not getting as many views as I believe you deserve. Thanks van
I love your story telling Van. That and the thoughtful camera work inspire me every time to push on and pursue my creativity. Thanks again mate, all the way from Australia. 👍
Great setup! I love my Delta Max. Would love to have something like this for backup sump pump system.
Your stuff is great! After years of not believing in myself I find your vids inspiring. Thanks!
I love that these types of kits are being developed and relatively easy to install!! Gotta have that Plan B!
Yup! Kits for your van and kits for Van!
Van thank you for making what I have been doing for years normal. Each upload is a wonderful experience would love to work with you someday on any project!
I too, always call the electrician in when connecting panel to the grid. I always feel better knowing I have someone to point the finger at when the house burns down.
I let out a breath of relief when he got the electrician to double check. Good work Van, Spirited Man.
Van is so good, i enjoy watching commercials
Dude how your able to make such simple things so interesting … You are such an inspiration for me ❤️ Casey inspired me to start my channel and you inspire me to keep creating now 💯 Thank You 🔥
I am Sooooooo glad you called the electrician in ! Well done up to the point, but electricity is no joke.
The legend is back.
You know you can trust a man who labels his breakers in his breaker box.
Thanks Van for sharing yourself with the world.
We're preparing to start living 'more' off the land by growing our own food. This may be a project to tackle in time too. Thank you for what you do.
Quality. Everything Van creates is with excellence.
Thank you for sharing this video. Seems like a pretty straight forward install which makes it more enticing to own and run this Power Kit.
Got one in Bangladesh when I remote work, it’s amazing. Not the same brand but same method of using the UPS
VAN, you are the MAN
That’s a badass set up
hands down the best channel, along side THE NINE CLUB!!!!!!
Cool, I just upgraded my system with an ecoflow portable 1.6kw. to run all my tools and studio from a smaller unit. Been doing it since 2017. Be careful to protect your batteries in cold weather. I made that mistake and lost $1k worth of lead batteries in snowy cold winter.
pretty nice installation, you can clearly see when a men is used to work with his hands
The best thing I like about it, is that I can fully customize the power system setup the way I want to.
I need instructions personally or I wouldn’t have a clue as to what to do. I would’ve had the electrician for the whole install. Luckily for me, I don’t have a studio and, (touch wood) the area I live in (Ontario Canada) doesn’t have a lot of power outages so I won’t be buying a power grid alternative. I do like your nice wiring with the labeled connections and use of plastic ties to keep the wires nice and neat though. The house may be in darkness but your studio will be fine.👍👍🇨🇦
Hey just had a thought watching this, why not flick the breaker off during the day and run on solar. then let the battery charge off solar. then worst case at night run the power. run completely independent.
What a great method to keep the creative flow going no matter what! :)
Love it. Thanks Van
Always good work
This system is lit. I wouldn't mind having the 10kWh independence kit power my off grid home.
OK - my brain just collapsed at the moment where you said...
"Without The Instructions"!!
Can't cope...sorry.
You might be able to procrastinate on building a structure around your system because it hardly rains. But I would do it ASAP because of the animals that might mess with your stuff. Not to mention thieves.
I live in the northeast. We've had various hurricanes. One of the big issues after the hurricanes and extended power outages was people stealing generators. I wasn't even in a bad area when this occurred. you would see suspicious vehicles driving around to look for the smaller generators that were in easy reach that they could just grab and go. Same with devices such as this. The area I loved in at the time was similar to where Van lives now, sort of a country wooded road.
@@chrisd5133 Always secure a generator with a heavy chain lock. Expensive lesson for idiots.
Ants love electricity.
Does anybody else get annoyed about the electrical panel cover 2:35 having a top hinge (gravity always trying to close the door when flipping a breaker) versus as side hinge?
That would drive me nuts. Needs a magnet catch to prevent it from falling
@@canadude6401 Very common on outdoor rated power panels. When you pull the cover up to 90 degrees, you can push the cover in some and it will hold itself up.
Seems a bit backwards... Shouldn't it use the batteries, having the panels charging them and then only use the grid when the batteries are empty ?
That would ruin the batteries faster.
@@THETANKGINGER Having them regularly cycle from high to low and vice-versa rather than keeping them on trickle charge?
@@MartinSlucutt they are on a trickle charge if the grid charges them. Charged constantly rather than being used a few% and charging.
@@MartinSlucutt I’m not a genius by any means I could be wrong
I can't speak directly to EcoFlows batteries but MOST backup batteries have applications where they only start to charge when they're 95% SoC or less. On applications where you're not regularly using them, this often equates to 10-14 in between when they'll top themselves off
So to be clear this is a hardlined kit that works as an electric generator, by supplying power from the batteries to the workspace in the event regular power goes out? I assume if you were to use the battery life up they can be recharged? I wonder how this compares to a solar power set up in costs vs longevity. In an ideal world I'd love us all to be off the main grid and using renewable energy.
Have a great time in London 👍🏻
Ok, I want one.
Great video!
Hi Van! Love your videos. Please sell more hoodies and t-shirts.
thanks for all the stories Van
Sit on the Toilette, open RUclips, new Van video, i smile..
Great job! What a man!
This is just great!
Dude how about a DIY video on making that awesome backyard furniture you have?!
Reading the instructions right now
Van i love your videos
Sold me on the kit!
Alvaro let's goooo
That little smile he gave while saying "without reading the instructions made clear that van is the "that's a stupid idea, but I'll do it anyway" kind of guy.
Going Solar is a Great thing.
where your garden seats from?
I want to get a few like this to switch to solar..my light bill jumped from 100 something to 800 something a month without running anything more than before...because of this new fuel charge they put on everybody...:(
What isn't shown (despite having the camera pointing in the correct direction) is whether the studio lights dipped when the A/C power from the grid was switched off and the studio switched to running on battery power. (Admittedly Van earlier described the changeover as happening "instantly".) Whilst a laptop has its own battery to buffer any small drop in external power, any use of a desktop PC / computer doesn't of-course. (Unless this situation has changed?) It would also be interesting to know how the changeover mechanism handles various types of dips in A/C power in this regard too, rather than a simple straight cut-off or restore of the A/C power.
Thanks van amazing video .how's the Soler panels holding up are they durable to the wind cos I live in Ireland and thinking of going with solid ones not sure what to do .... Procrastinating 😀 like a mofo
so once the solar panels are installed and the grid still connected, which source will charge the batteries? i'd like to think mainly the panels and the grid will become secondary until there's no grid
Love your videos!!!! 💢💯💢
Just wondering: what's the difference between this and just a normal UPS?
These seem so cool. Do you think you could maintain your studio off-grid completely with one of these long-term or do you think the battery would deteriorate after a year or so?
Seems like it would be a good option for those of us that want a "studio shed" like you have set-up, but don't know shit about electricity.
Yeah, I think "most of us" hate reading Manuals.
Sure, I also call out the pros if and when I think my actions may cause bodily harm or death. 😬
Great video as always. It's time for me to go and do the washing....with woman's day going on here in South Africa. The wife has her "free time" sorted then 😄
The GoPros are so shitty in low light... But congrats on your off-the-grid electrical installation, Van!
Hi I'm looking to buy a unit that can run 2 items - a pool pump for about 12hrs a day, at 1800w. and a water tank pump at 1100w that comes on and off everyday as taps are open.
Is there a unit that can do this?
Thank you
Roger
“This Old House” type of episode. I love it!
anyone know what font he's using at the 6:16 mark? it feels nostalgic, easy to read... I'm a fan.
I'd be keen to know if you could run it primarily on solar and battery and only use the grid if you use up all the battery power. Seems like having all that kit for power cuts is a bit of a waste and you could be running your studio off grid most of the time
Pretty neat setup, thanks for exposing me to some of this tech I other wise would be way too intimidated to even consider an option.
Without reading instructions. Aaah something Casey would do and after installing everything he missed something and had to read the instructions 😂
What happens if the breaker flips because of a faulty appliance, but the battery keeps it on anyway. Risk of shock or fire? Sizzlin'.
Nothing because the power is on the same side of the source power therefore the tripped breaker prevents sizzlin .
As AvE once said, reading the instructions is basically cheating.
clicked on the link for battery and wanted to use your code but didnt work :/
Hello Van from BC Canada. Great to see you Back 😎🖒
Seems like you change to your gruff voice for the microphone?
Excuse me...what makes you think that your system is or will be immune/impervious to an EMP or other some sort of global cataclysm ?
Very nice need project.
Does it not rain there?
Van did ecoflow give you a discount code?
hey Van, or anyone else basically - which font did you/he use in 6:03? The yellow one, I like that one a lot!
What solar panels did you feature in this film?
I think it's all from EcoFlow
A solar flare would fry all the electronics including your off-grid system unless you build a faraday cage all around the system…
We have been using this inverter in my house in India from 2003 😂
But a CME or EMP may also destroy the circuit inside so relying on it isn't a good plan for that application...
Tidy kit!
Sick!
Calling customer support may not be "reading the manual" but it should not have been necessary if system were designed properly.
Cool! Nice video ✌️
Soul RUclips
Hellof a sponsor.. jeez $10k+ set up
"which is not technically reading the instruction" 🤣
I believe this is called an inverter, common in third world countries. I have one too
Bravo
to increase the batteries' life, you might want to figure some way to keep them cool as well as dry :) cheers
