    God, this hobby moves so fast, I don’t know how I could justify getting paying 600$ for an iem when I can have budget versions of all the heavy hitters for so much less. Especially with EQ, it feels like listeners without golden ears really don’t have to go beyond an under $200 set and a Qudelix 5k

    • @En_Joshi-Godrez
      @En_Joshi-Godrez Год назад +7

      Thats good for you, but dont get swept under the false pretence that diminishing returns is anything beyond completely subjective. It is always fallacious to use them as a argument, as thats a mistranslation of what that word means IN THIS CONTEXT.
      Let's give a example. If we think of the clarity and detail of a headphone like a window. The difference between one of the best headphones in the $1-2k category and a TOTL headphone is the window being spotless, and the window not being there at all. If you want the window to no longer exist, then you are willing to pay how ever much more it cost to get that. To that guy, its ENTIRELY worth its value, therfore there value of diminishing returns never applied as to get that experience, they could pay NO LESS for it. Now the reason such a headphone is considered as 'beyond diminishing returns' to you is because you DONT value that requirement relative to its cost of reaching that point.
      Both of you are completely valid, because its COMPLETELY subjective and therfore cannot be used in the context of proving anything.

    • @BwipBwop
      @BwipBwop Год назад +2

      @enjoshi-godrez8775 oh, it’s 100% subjective, no doubt. I’m speaking to the specific context of listeners who would be able to tell the difference between a spotless window and an empty window frame. My eye sight sucks, I can’t make out much more than blobs of color past where my hands reach, so given the same viewing conditions, I’d probably make the same mistake birds and dogs make all the time with windows.
      For the person who won’t appreciably hear a difference in detail between the ie200 and ie600 for example, buying the $600 is just standing in a nicer room when all that matters is seeing out the window. Within that context, I think it’s a fair statement.

    • @En_Joshi-Godrez
      @En_Joshi-Godrez Год назад +2

      @@BwipBwop unless your hearing is genuinely damaged, you can condition yourself to hear a difference. But there's a catch, its really entirely dependent on the music you listen to, and what you want to experience from it. There is a reason these reviewers use music you've never heard of. Almost all music on the top 100 is so heavily compressed, what ever technical advantages exist for the more expensive product, all they'll do is further expose that compression. This is a real problem when you get into TOTL stuff, expecially for speakers over the 20k mark. You suddenly find the difference between even a good recording, and a emulate one to be too vast to ignore its short falls. I think practically anyone with undamaged hearing could eventually hear the difference between two headphones in different price categories, *but only with the right music* , the question is, would you ever actually listen to that music.

    • @BwipBwop
      @BwipBwop Год назад +1

      @@En_Joshi-Godrez I do probably have some hearing damage honestly. Had tinnitus since I was a kid after a shooting accident (always have that ear pro secure) but my biggest issue is probably one of exposure. Most expensive audio I’ve experienced is probably whatever setup they had the Alamo, s12 pro, second hand Pandas, and Grados.
      I was listening to Final E500 and Ety Er2se with the comply T100 tips using Sylva by Snarky Puppy and the Metropole Orkest off of Apple Lossless via Apple dongle and the MP3 off of my iPod Mini.
      I’m not sure I could pick up much in the detail department beyond it all sounding the way it should, it’s been years since I’ve used dirty buds or anything absolutely trash tier, so I haven’t got anything really poor resolution to compare to. But, between the Er2se, e500, Hexa, BL03, FHE, FDX1, Wu Zetian, S12, MEE Planamic Truthear Zero, and Opal, I don’t know that I can point to any differences beyond tuning and stuff. I think I heard more detail on the Stellaris, but the sibilance I got from those was too much to go more than a few songs.
      I would like to get a feel for detail, could you recommend a few good tracks or playlists that would be good to A/B on? I have some HD560s coming as well to put against an assortment of Koss cans, but iem wise are there two sets that have a lot of contrast detail wise that I could compare on the right music to train myself to recognize the difference?
      Appreciate your responses

    • @En_Joshi-Godrez
      @En_Joshi-Godrez Год назад +1

      @@BwipBwop that sucks to hear. As for tracks A/B testing, there's nothing better than the tracks you know the best. However, i do know something better for that purpose. There is a channel called dans audio reviews thst does demo tracks using a measurement rig. He uses the same song, and alternates between iems instantaneously. He has A/B a few of the iems you mentioned like the s12. Check out his chu vs s12 vs IE600 video. The difference between the chu and the s12 should already be apparent to you, but the IE600 might be not. What higher iems should sound like is a layer of haze from the instruments and vocal being removed. The IE600 should sound like the vocals are searing through your mind, while the s12 is mostly kept back. If you dont get the feeling after multiple listens over, then you got your answer. Also really check out his 7hz timeless review. The timeless is on the same level as the s12, and that round up has the MEST in it, which is a $1300 iem. That will give you the biggest decider between what you have, and the high end options.

The IE600 however is a bass monster, impressively done without mudding the midrange and the treble sounds, especially drum cymbals sounds magnificent. The IE200 feels somewhat grainy compared to its big brother. I am really astonished by the sound of s12, first time so satisfied with pure realism and naturality of the sound.
      I Am from EU, And I Think that top chi fi IEMs in price bracket of 200 Euros ultimately obliterates anything up to 1000 Euros and maybe more from any EU brand, especially with this new generation of planar IEMs.
      Maybe I am wrong, so I would like to hear what GIZ audio says about that.
      One suggestion for anybody that has s12 - try quality memory foam tips instead of silicone - they go from superb to spectacular.
