  • It's a haircut comparison for todays video! I LOVE doing these tutorials and I hope you enjoy it! SHORT layers remove a lot of weight and bulk from the hair naturally and give lots of volume and movement to the hair. They do require more work as far as styling goes because of the various lengths. Short layers because they remove more weight and bulk, those with fine and thin hair have to be cautious when getting. LONG layers are going to be great for someone who like to keep their hair looking and thick as possible and hair that will be easier to style. Long layers are a classic haircut that never goes out of style and give just enough movement to the hair.

    I'm watching a lot, but I really think you have the best cuts and explanations. Thank you, summer❤

    The only thing I think that is missed is to let the stylist know that you have already cut the length to where your client wants it before you start the layers. But so validating to see someone doing hair exactly how I do. ❤

    I love the movement in the front on the shorter layer side but i also love the simplicity of the back on the longer layered side! I feel like this combo would work great with those with longer hair! Great video as always!

    I love this comparison very much👌. I prefer the longer layers as it is easier to maintain 😁.

    Such a great description of how to avoid getting too thin on the sides when cutting face framing! Thank you for making me a better self-stylist, and have a wonderful holiday!

    YOU ARE AMAZING!! Thank you for the clarification. I am going for a haircut tomorrow and now I have a better undressing of short/long layers. I will go for the long layers style. Keep up the good work!!👍☺🙂

    Summer your videos are amazingly informative! One question I have is what do you recommend for a perm on fine hair? Thanks in advance.

    I am growing my hair and have long layers and a face frame but I find the side gets a little heavy - I accidentally cut a hole trying to thin it slightly. Any tips? I have quite thick hair but I don’t necessarily want shorter layers.

    How much do the hair mannequins cost & how do you get the most use out of them?

    • @StylesBySummer
      @StylesBySummer  6 месяцев назад +4

      They range from about $35 to $180 depending on the mannequin. The more $$$ I try to get multiple cuts out of them.

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but can’t you just take a piece from the back section and use that as the guide for the sides, and do the same process as you did the back? I feel like all the over directing is adding more work?

    • @StylesBySummer
      @StylesBySummer  5 месяцев назад +3

      You need to over direct back to keep most thickness. If you bring the back piece forward you will remove more length and thickness. Which is fine if that's what you want, but most people like more weight kept in the ear region as thats the hole zone.

    Hi! I live in So. FL, and would love to be a hair model (is that the term?) in your video. I had curly hair all my life, but with menopause it turned stick straight, thick. I don't know what to do with it, and it's a little longer than this mannequin. Let me know if you are still looking for live models-

    It would be better if you didn't yell at the camera. Even turning it down to where I can't hardly hear, the way you talk to the camera causes me headaches.

      You were very rude with your comment. You should’ve turned off sound or not watched if it was such a problem for you.
      I found the video very helpful and her explanation perfect for my next trip to get my hair cut.
