Thanks for this Crispin. I was a Marconi apprentice and lived in Chelmsford between 79 and 84. I spent most of my wages in The Prince. I remember it pre, and post remodelling. After the makeover, there was a "red" carpet which soon became extremely sticky. And who can forget the revolutionary video jukebox (and indoor toilets)?
