    Hi I'm from Australia and I have always used a normal glue stick and I have never had any problems using it, And no problems removing the papers. Yes it saves me money by buying them and yes I prefer them to the sewline glue pen. I guess it's what the person can afford. 👍🏻🇦🇺😀

    I've always used school glue stick (the purple) and have never had a problem removing papers from my fabric, nor with skewing or stretching of the fabric. You don't glop on the glue, you use just enough to tack down the fabric so that you can sew it together. If you water spray your pieces once you have gotten them together, the papers will be easy to remove. I found that those glue pens run out of glue so quickly that it really isn't economically feasible-unless you have no financial restraints. I'm happy with the Elmers Purple Glue sticks.

      Pamela Hunt thank you so much for your comment. I'm a newbie and I was wondering why it wouldn't be a good idea to use glue stick (specially when you are financially mindful) your tip has just saved me a lot of money and effort searching for fabric glue. You've made a new quilter very happy!😀❤️

      Maybe the purple glue sticks (disappearing color) has a lighter stickiness than the regular white glue. I use white school glue for basting seams for bags, and I didnt prefer purple glue for that purpose. Maybe I can use them for EPP! Thanks for the idea.

      Thanks Pamela! I’m pretty new to EPP, but do find that I run out of those glue refills really quickly!! I’m gonna try the purple. It washes out of the fabric ok?

      Thanks for this comment the school glue (purple washable) is working great. I've been epping for about a year but the glue was getting way to expensive for me so I bought the school sticks❤❤
      So happy with the results

    I use the pink glue pen but I've also used the school glue with good results. The pink glue has a finer tip but it gets soft - so I store it in the fridge! Chilling the pens and the sticks works well, try it!!

    i LOVE Spray starch that comes from can and foams up. I use a tiny regular brush and use the method of brushing it on edges of fabric and iron it down. I had a project in my bag for 8mo and counting and petals still have their shape WITHOUT the back paper. Try it out :)

    What do you do with your dog ears? Cutting them? Me, I fold them and sew them in the same time that the sewed sides. I ate that they are in my way. But with triangles, can I continue to do like I presently do??

    Of course I just bought a glue pen yesterday and watched this video this morning. Which pen did I purchase? Beige...of course. LOL Thanks for all of the great videos. Just getting into EPP and your videos are very helpful.

    • @hillbillyhandiworks
      @hillbillyhandiworks  9 лет назад +3

      Carol Hofstetter Oh now don't lose heart! I used to only carry the beige, until I could get the others and I have a TON of blue refills so that is what I use. Then a customer came into my shop the other day and said she only likes blue because she lives in Arizona and the pink melts easier in the heat! so there you go, Its a matter of opinion.
      Thank you, I am going to try to film another very soon. I've been wanting to for sometime but things (life and doctors) keep getting in the way of our plans :)

    Hi, I'm not new to EPP, but new to using glue.
    Are your papers just plain matt paper or shiny like the sew line brand?

    • @hillbillyhandiworks
      @hillbillyhandiworks  6 лет назад +2

      I just use plain paper. I've used the shiny and it works as well, but plain card stock is the least expensive choice for me

    Hi,😊 I was wondering how do you know how much fabric you need to buy when making an epp quilt?

    • @hillbillyhandiworks
      @hillbillyhandiworks  2 года назад +2

      Hi Joni.
      Since I like to be very artistic in my approach it is all about the repeat for me . Often I need the exact same design repeated 8 times for a star. This is often a yard and a half . Then I just fill in with matching colors

    Why can’t you say the name of the glue when you’re offering your opinion? Beauty influencers do it all the time? Just wondering.
