"that being said, tretinoin might not be for everyone"
There, I fixed it for you.
Ya.
Yea used it for six months thinking it'd do me good . Worsened my skin n wasted time
@@Namnu. These people doesn't say everything. Like cricket you should be in district team then state and then you will be in national team. Same as vitamin a derivates. You should start from low to high up, by that you condition your skin
Retinol ( medium range retinol that works ) slowly by a period of 6 months to 1 year then switch to high concentration for next 1 year or granactive retinoids ( for a good result it's best stay with it until you think it's not working, may be years) then to prescription adapalene, trazarotene Or tretinoin ( smallest concentration). If you meet a derm mostly they will analysis the skin conditionns first treat you with benzoyk peroxide combined with salycilic acid, then gradually to peels then to adapalene, then to tretinoin. And this may take years for acne and acne marks. For skin ageing I don't know what's the procedure. But trust we this is what done by a good doctor to me. But he have put me on best cleanser and sunscreen and moisturizer during this whole shift of products that suited my skin conditions at that time( means my skin was oily, then become sensitive dry again oily sensitive dehydrated). The first doctor I had seen put me on tretinoin strait , can you believe that without even a moisturizer. That dump was my first derm.
I love castor oil too, don’t care what anyone says it’s done wonders for my skin.

How do you use it?
Totally agree. I use it on my face, body, hair, lashes, eyebrows. Its amazing

When you start to use retinol please use the sandwich system and don't forget your sunscreen

I’ve used Ret A since my 30’s and am now 70. I truly believe in it. I only use it at night. Never suntan or go out w/o sunblock. My routine is simple.

@@yasminbegamdavood4659 Elta or CeraVe. I use both.
@@rafaelamorim3527 Why do you say that? Just because you don’t want to use it, doesn’t mean no one should. Of all the things you can control to prevent premature aging of the face, protecting your skin is the most important. If it’s not important to you, have at it.
Retin A has improved my skin so much!
You will absolutely need a moisturiser when you start perimenopause and beyond. The dryness and flaking was so awful at one stage I felt like rubbing lard on my face.
I have atopic dermatitis and moisturizing is the most important thing for me as at the genetic level my skin naturally lacks some components to have a strong skin barrier , so it is important to some people
Yes, I think points like this are sorely missing from this video. Not everyone’s bodies. Make things exactly the way they’re supposed to be made for us to get the things that we need.… And I also never really understood why we can’t just put straight vitamin A on the skin without it being converted first to the retinoid. Everything about those products are counterintuitive to me. Do what works for you :-)
True. I have the same issue and using the right moisturizer help me a lot. I used body cream from Eucerin a lot but now I found another good one called Curel. When my skin is terrible dry and inflamed then oil is better than cream as it doesn't burn my skin.
My skin has improved so much & no more itchy dry sensitive skin. I think ceramide is the key ingredients for me but not all products with ceramide gives the same effect on my skin. Cerave is not working well for me.
I cannot imagine not using a moisturizer.

It definitely is because of you age. I had perfect skin in my 20’s and 30’s too
Tretinoin really saves my my skin. Combined with HA toner and ceramide moisturizer , they all makes my skin super smooth and blemish & acne free.

I found your channel this morning and I have now spent several hours watching your videos. Best day of my life! Thank you for spending your valuable time sharing this invaluable information!
Thank you so much for your kind words ☺️💓
You’re so eloquent with such a pleasant voice. 😊
Thank you 🙏
you're saving us loads of $$$. I admit, I do love some luxury products because of the way they feel on the skin and the way they smell, but at least I'm wise enough now to understand their limitations and I'm finally using sunscreen. Better late than never.
Don't fall for feel and smell - those are typical characteristics which companies use to make you buy it when there isn't anything biologically worthwhile inside. Smell is a crucial one - ingredients just say 'fragrance'. But wth is that? What fragrance? There's no transparency at all.
Beyond grateful for your quick and sincere answer . just started HRT two month ago hoping that with the time it can calm down my skin .
So happy to have found you , can’t wait to go through all your videos. Please ignore me if you already spoke about it but I am eager to get your input on face cleansers ! Million thanks
You're welcome. The best cleanser imo is water unless you need something for a specific use like taking makeup up, exfoliating pigment etc
If you massage your face thoroughly with ALMOND oil and then wipe it off with a soft face towel, and then rinse thoroughly with warm water it will deep cleanse your skin without stripping or drying it, and it rinses off completely as long as you wipe it off first with the towel.
I felt called out with that Clinique anti-age moisturizer, I have it on my face right now :D I must say I love it vs many others and vs not using any.
I started using tret when it first came out. I was 30. I am now 77 and have no wrinkles. Ta Da!
I too started young. I was 19 and now I am 60. People think I have botox in my forehead. I have no wrinkles. I did wear hats when I was outside and used sunscreen but it was retin-A that prevented the wrinkles and gave me smooth skin.
I have been using tretinoin gel for 25 years. Love it!

Could you have been pregnant ? I want to know before making some damage. Thank you :)
I used tret like on off 2 years, routine just this year. Not yet giving those glows up, but my face was in her worst to began with when i was starting using tret. Still have little and big bumps here and there, almost 90 % gone, patiently wait those stubborn 10 % gone completely.
Using tret for anti aging but turns out the only thing that works for my acnes beside retinol.
I don't know why but I have never suffered from acne even in my teens, until recently I never used creams or soap on my face my morning routine was washing face in cold running water dabbing dry then using witch hazel as a toner after, I have never worn make-up either.
But a few years ago I noticed my skin was getting very dry & researched into natural products for dry skin, after a few years of experimenting with various oils etc on their own or mixed I finally found what works best for my skin, now I mix equal amounts of pure aloe gel & organic castor oil together, this mix I also use on hands & all over body after a shower or bath too, but everyone's skin is different so I'm not saying this mix will work on all skin
I do that too❤

No.
How do you use Tremella Mushroom?
I had severe acne for almost 2 decades, was on differin gel also. It helped a bit, but not as much as I needed it to. The only thing that completely transformed my skin was Roaccutane tablets prescribed by my dermatologist and very gentle facewash & moisturiser with no actives during treatment. I wish i visited the dermatologist early on in my teens, but I couldn't afford it. It would've saved me from the horrendous pitted acne scars. I'm in my mid 40s now. I've been acne free for probably 15 years. Start early, people, if u are able to. Dont try to fix it on your own unless its really mild.
Dosage of roaccutane plz tell and duration

Dr. Abs - Currently devouring the info from your vids. THANK YOU! Question: I was on .1 tretinoin for a long time, but found Altreno which I find much lovelier to use, but it’s only .05, so……am I getting less benefit because it’s a lower concentration or are .05 & .1 over the long term comparable? Looking forward to seeing more of your work!
Thanks! In the long term it'll come to about the same result so I wouldn't worry :)
Ty for this. I use naturium retinal because tret is too harsh for my sensitive skin. Is that a good product?
Generally speaking, what anti aging routine do you recommend for those who are pregnant?
This is sound, yes I've bn on tret over a decade now n love it, like he says it's all I use / need in the way of actives. I even tried adding vitamin c and it broke me out, maybe if I used higher quality it wouldn't but either way yes simple is best, I'm also on 2 supplements that have aided tremendously (I dealt w cystic acne before but just deal w hormonal flareups now, as in, 1 or 2 tiny tiny bumps maybe on my neck rt before menstrual), game and life changer. Unless I do AviClear (new acne laser), I'll likely always be on this current regiment, the cystic acne does return if I go off it I learnt once hard way. 🙌✌️✌️
May I ask which "2 supplements aided tremendously"?
@@livingflame3845Niacinamide (vitamin b3, prescription only), zinc- 50mg / day, discuss w your provider this is what has proved successful for me. ✌️

Hey Dr. Abs, thanks a lot for this video. Question: is Differin (Adapalene) just as efficient as Tretinoin for anti-aging (wrinkles, pigmentation, etc)?
Thanks!
Great video, any recommendations on choosing between azelaic , tranexamaic, glycolic, salicilyic acid for hyperpigmentation and PIH? Ive heard hydroquinone can cause rebound hyperpigmentation and maybe glycolic can be a bit too harsh when tret is already in the routine?
Does depend on the patient, but, check out thiamidol from eucerin which is potentially stronger than all of them with less risk too
What about menopause’s effect on the skin . My skin is cracking up and no cream seems to nourish my face and body skin . Any advice ? 🙏
What a brilliant question. Menopause has a massive effect on skin! Ideally, you looked at skincare but also things like menopause treatment in the form of hormone replacement therapy

Tretnoin is hard to get ahold of in the UK, dermatologist don't like prescribing them 😕
I see you educate on the skin. I have an auto Immune skin disease called Lichen Sclerous. It is located in my whole private area. Have you heard of this? The skin gets very thin and causes burning pain and inflammation. Do you know of anything that could help this skin condition to heal? Nothing with alcohol. The only thing they recommend is topical steroid ointment.

You seem to know your stuff so i’d love to hear your thoughts on this, i plan on controlling my flare ups and extremely oily T zone with 10mg Accutane every other day for life, with that being as much/more Vit A for my skin than tret, what would be a worthy skin care routine to have ?
Hmm, the question is possibly a little more complicated than you think. It's a bigger single dose of vitamin A, but how much is the skin receiving to make a valid comparison? In my personal opinion, a light dose of accutane a couple times a week is probably quite anti ageing for skin
@@Dr_Abs do you think it’s worth incorporating stuff like Vit C, Niacinamide or Tret into this routine ?
For sure if you can afford it. Generally you might find you don't need the tret if you're taking Roaccutane though.
That’s all well and good but how do you get Tretinoin prescribed for purely cosmetic reasons? Doctors won’t do it. Unless they’re related to you and do you a solid.
order from alldaychemist. No prescription needed
I have hormonal acne and i am uisng cleanser, toner, serum to control it. Especially near my nose it gets bad...any options to deal with it.
I use 1% retinol By zo, radical night repair , any good ? Do I need to go to a derm to get tretenoin ?
ZO is a not-bad brand but it's still retinol at the end of the day. Regardless of brand, retinol is still retinol - it's still an ingredient that can't compete with something like retinoic acid in the short and medium term. When you're looking at long term like years and years ahead, then they might have you looking roughly similiar by then. I'd never use retinol on myself and I have several colleagues I prescribe tret for who are in the same boat. There's a link in the description for tret prescription from myself if you wish - doesn't cost anything and only takes a deposit which is counted as part of the tret purchase. Hope that helps :)
Can i use tretonoin without moisturizer?? there will be no problem??
It's more complicated for people like me that have kidney disease and other health problems
Or thyroid issues, graves disease as I do

I will definitely go to my dermatologist for a retinoid but not during the summer it’s too nice outside to avoid
Good morning… I do have a prescription for tretinoin 0.1% cream.
But then I get sucked into watching these women do videos on Serums.
So from what I’m hearing from you, I believe like Dermatology Needle-less serum, Ordinary Salicylic Acid, Ordinary Niacinamide 10% plus zinc, and Timeless 20% vitamin C Ferulic vitamin E, Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% and Copper Amino Isolate serum that I have been using with my Tretinoin is perhaps a waste of money and time.
You personally would not waste your money on. It’s only a temporary fix that you have to keep pouring money into. That just the Tretinoin 0.1% will help with the fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage?
Thank you if you share your thoughts on this.
Yeah I don't believe someone needs that many products to be honest. Just a simple tretinoin on it's own with suncream and something to clean the skin should be enough for most people. If someone has quite bad pigmentation they're trying to treat then it would be worth adding products.
I believe people are different and so are the needs of the skin. A thirty year old asian has a different skin than a sixty year old European. I don't believe in costly chemical products but in castor oil, coconut oil, Aloe vera for example. I doubt, that one product is good for all skin types
Is the nutrakos skincare line any good DR ?
I use the intensive anti ageing serum and the post-peel suncream a lot and really like it. If you have the money to spare, they'd be great additions to your routine 😊

If yiu don’t have dry skin then of course you may be just fine without moisturizer but we suffer epidermal moisture loss just from cleansing .. and if you live in a dry climate like Las Vegas Um you absolutely need moisturizer
Nope. Without wishing to go into an essay, there are plenty of scientific papers to prove the opposite. I have patients in dry climates without moisturiser and without dry skin. Glad the video gave you something to think about though, thanks for commenting 😄
Oh, because you don’t consider oils moisturizers? But they have ceremides, oils in them. I just heard your other video. I use tret at night with la roche posay moisturizer because without it, it’s too drying and in the morning the skinceuticals sillymarin cf and timeless coq10 so have to put a moisturizer on top to avoid moisture loss. then spf.. I’m interested in the ordinary squaline but afraid it’s too oily for day time. Interested in your thoughts on these other serums and also growth factors. Will look through your channel to see if already covered. Thnx!
Yeah I wouldn't consider an oil a moisturizer personally. Even though they may have the oils, it's the HA that can draw water away from the dermis too so always bear that in mind. Try the squalane for a while instead of LRP after tret and you may be pleasantly surprised. It's so much cheaper too ;)
For GFs it's practically impossible for companies to guarantee that they don't switch on oncogenes which would be extremely dangerous. Check out TNS Allergan Skinmedica for all the lawsuit info because of the cancer risks that were concealed.
I totally agree. After coming to Germany, finding a moisturizer for my sensitive acne prone dehydrated skin was the best decision ever. I never believed in using a moisturizer earlier because back in India my skin was oily. I don't think he gets the point that research always has its boundaries and limitations and isn't always accurate since it isn't capable of covering subjects having variant skin types based on the climate

Many estheticians have said that tret and retinol are toxic. Tret has given me very dry eyes and i read that this happens a lot to people. Ive been on and off tret...retin a micro for quite some time but no matter what im just always left with flaky red skin, so i stopped.
They're literally vitamin A. They're classed as essential nutrients so I disagree that they're toxic. Imagine what kind of baby would be born if the mum had no vitamin A...

Dr. Abs, thank you for the informative video. Could you tell me how I can purchase tretinoin from you?
www.drabs.clinic and you can see some lifelong options or single consult ones
What about peptides…matryxil and argereline?
The irritation is so bad sir
Start with a light retinol. Don’t jump to Retin A. Use sunscreen daily. That’s the way to do it. And if you’re under 30, all you really need is SPF, unless you have acne. Acne will improve with a retinoid. Try Differin. You can buy it at a drugstore or online. It’s very gentle. Good luck.
OST irritations come from improper usage. Start with the lowest percentage prescription. You only need 1 pea size amount for your entire face. Apply it on top of a good moisturizer, and then layer over the tretinol with an occlusive moisturizer to seal it in. Start 1x a week, then slowly increase to 2x a week after 3 or 4 weeks of use. Keep slowly increasing how many nights a week you can use comfortably.
Then add a moisturizing cream before you apply it
But moisturizer feels good n makes skin look good too! I’ll continue my moisturizers
Exactly, the manufacturers love things that 'feel' and 'look' good because they know you'll buy them without paying attention to the chemistry of what's actually going on
I put 0.1% tretinoin on my skin directly and use nothing else. I have done this for years and despite having no wrinkles, my skin is still flaky, after years of doing this routine daily. I was told to use a ceramide based cream to remedy this but am afraid I am diluting the tret and I don't want to drop down to a lower concentration in fear of losing the benefits. Do you have any advice in this regard to help with flaking?
It's not a default thing to do. It's a complex answer too, you might need a tape strip test of the microbiome

@@aryas4443 I apologize, yes I obviously cleanse my skin with a gentle and sulfate free cleanser to clean my face, neck and skin. I also use a moisture rich hyaluronic based moisture and a mineral sunscreen. My point was to simply point out that there is one single "prescription cream" that truly does it all! Sorry for any confusion, but yes, wash my skin, treat my skin with Tretinoin and moisturize and sunscreen as needed!... 😊
@@_A4A I know. But some random person will think that just use tretinoin like nivea cream. The first dermatologist I had seen done that to me. Without even giving me a mousturizer she gave me a 0.025 tretinoin. Ruined my skin entirely. That's y I said this. If been harsh I'm sorry
Tret, 10% vitamin C and spf 50 is all I use. I am wondering if red light is legit tho.
Great routine! It absolutely is worth it but only if you have the right device. There's only one in the world with a medical license - Dermalux.
Good for you that it suits you. It doesn't work for me because I have sensitive skin
My skin can't cope with retinol so assume it won't cope with anything stronger
@@carolbenton2121 have u tried cacay oil?
Wait….how are people doing tretinoin without moisturizer?! I’m still only using the .025 and peel every time. I use the sandwich method which helps control the peeling but I can’t imagine using no moisturizer at all! How do you do this? And is there really no benefit to a moisturizer with ceramides and the like in it?
Are you from the Midwest US?
Dr Abs. Please tell us how we can repair a damaged skin barrier! Please, please, please!
Back to basics: vitamin A, suncream, sensitive cream like Eucerin urea cream etc
Thank you! So creams like the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 isn't required? Ha!
