When I first heard this song I immediately had mad respect because he put the CLASSIC drum break in there, nobody does that anymore. And no matter how old it is people still know it's dope
my point is just that he put that drum break in ther. cause its like a classic break that dudes used back in the pioneering days of hip hop, I like that he keeps that alive with it.
+Marques Martinez You know FloRidas My House uses the same drum loop right? and another song on the radio right now? Theres nothing impressive about using the most overrused sample ever.
+justingszabo The drum break is impeach the president by the honey drippers not the most overused sample! Most overused sample is funky drummer by James brown to me.
+Darius Douglass ... either way, they are two of the most used samples ever, so what exactly are you trying to prove? FYI Funky drummer isn't the most used sample ever if thats what you're trying to say.
pretty easy beat. i recall reading somewhere that the producer (not Cole) just played some piano keys and distorted it. add in some gun clicks and there you have it. I'm not a producer so idk what's true but that's what I read
These videos have really given me a better understanding of how they make their tracks sound full and have variation within the song. I use to sample very heavily but lately i've been writing my own chords and melodies like nothing! Thank you for these videos i appreciate them so much! Trying to get better at what i do every single day! God Bless!
Great behind the beat! I'm loving your channel! These helps me to understand how to get the sounds out of my head and into reality! Also subed to the website! Please keep this going!
Perfect breakdown, learned some new stuff about the kick and snare samples, so I'm definitely going to try that out. It's even better that you use Maschine because I have one too lmao. Good shit man, I look forward to all your videos.
SinfulKHD I'll see if I can get a copy lined up and try it out. And SuperHoeCakes, I can never respond to your comments! But I'll start doing Ableton too and see which one gets enough attention to stick around. Maybe both!
Sandurz I just got your membership for BB and I use Ableton. Unfortunately, there is only this beat in that format? I'd love to have the other popular beats on Ableton!. Keep up the great work! This is genius!
Sandurz Thanks for the hard work! The membership is totally worth it. Just started to produce and the file for this song helped me alot about chopping and warping! Totally recommend buying it to anyone else! Can't wait until you upload Through the Wire! Thanks again!
I know all songs are different but typically how long does it take you to figure out all the components of a song? Are we talking a few hours or like days?
jojojo256000 good question! Anywhere from half an hour to a day or two. The skeleton usually comes together quickly, but sometimes the final polish is what takes so long. For this track in particular, there's actually a live feed of me figuring it out! ruclips.net/video/gPheJq3_YfM/видео.html around 2:00 is when I start.
Bro this was a great video. Only thing is maybe cut out some of the lows on the drum loop. Maybe around 50-80hz. Other than that it was spot on and I loved it.
When you pitch up/down a sample , do you have to go a certain amount of semitones up/down ? Or is it just Different for every song ? When I pitch up/ down samples , I can't add bass because it isn't in tune . Any advice bro ?
Yeah, some samples aren't in 440 A (standard) tuning. Orchestral works are commonly in 442 A and old funk/soul works it was common to work in stuff like 430/425 A. It gets even more complicated if your sample uses harmonic tuning instead of equal temperament. Pick something clean like a piano, have it repeatedly play the closest note it can to the tonic of the key of your sample (this takes either a bit of time, or a really good ear to figure out), and find out how to fine tune your channels (ive never used that DAW), instead of moving everything by semitones. For example I just pitched a sample up about 1/4 of a semitone with the fine tuner for the last beat I made, then since it was in standard I could pitch shift the sample however many semi tones I wanted to
Mate you've got amazing talent I love watching your Beat Breakdown videos, I only dabble in FL Studio but the way you layer it up makes so much sense and I learn a lot. Thanks for making these!
TapatioPapi Started that up on a recent livestream! And then my computer crashed right when it was coming together lol. I'll give it it another go eventually I'm sure. Should be around the time linked here: ruclips.net/video/TwCPMcu_hWg/видео.html
You should do a Beat Breakdown on Kendrick Lamar's "Backseat Freestyle" it has a multitude of great samples, chopped and used in really interesting ways.

When I first heard this song I immediately had mad respect because he put the CLASSIC drum break in there, nobody does that anymore. And no matter how old it is people still know it's dope
+Marques Martinez Easily the worst/most lazy thing about the beat to me. But hey, just my opinion.
my point is just that he put that drum break in ther. cause its like a classic break that dudes used back in the pioneering days of hip hop, I like that he keeps that alive with it.

pretty easy beat. i recall reading somewhere that the producer (not Cole) just played some piano keys and distorted it. add in some gun clicks and there you have it. I'm not a producer so idk what's true but that's what I read
Kevin Yoo it would, but the track doesn't use any sample, and sandurz seem to only cover beats with samples, so idk

I'd love to see you breakdown a Key Wane beat, "all me" by Drake would be cool or "higher" by Big Sean maybe.
Ableton downloads would be awesome. Great work, as always.
You should do some of Havocs masterpieces like, eye for an eye etc.
Please do j cole January 28th breakdown
Thx for ya videos man ! Keep it up 👍
If the drum break was pitched down, the kick would not be in tune right? Do kicks have to be in tune or not?
please do Otis by Jay Z
Bruh, Otis is easy to figure out on your own.
Dean Winchester Word, all it is is just some reverb, pitch change, and tempo change to Otis Reddings song, then add bass and hats and voila
The song is try a little tenderness that is sampled. The chops are fairly simple to do yourself
Bro this was a great video. Only thing is maybe cut out some of the lows on the drum loop. Maybe around 50-80hz. Other than that it was spot on and I loved it.
Awesome. Did you take a course in sound engineering/beat making? or did you learn it all on your own because I want to invest in a beat machine...

Logic Pro x and maschine 2
