    I've heard this rendition before but now, after hearing this concert so many times during the XVIIIth Chopin Piano Competition, I have to admit that Rafał just... ate all of these amazing competitors alive. His playing here was crystal clear yet emotional. Holy shit!!!! I can now see that he was THAT DAMN GOOD!

      As much as we admire Rafal for his rendition, we have no right to show disrespect to the competitors: young people who have made an extraordinary effort just to be accepted in the Chopin Competition - let alone to reach the final.

    • @nusior
      @nusior 2 года назад +13

      That's my no 1. Maybe I'm biased because it was my generation and my fellow countryman but I tend to compare every other rendition to this one. Don't get me wrong there are and were many great performances but this one just gets me. This year's finalists were also great and my favourite performance was Sorita's. There was a little of this "final chord applause" that I like to hear to know if audience is on the same page as I am :D I also liked Garcia's f-minor even though I don't have such fond feelings for Concerto #2. And Liu's e-minor rendition wasn't for me, too fast. I liked him better the next day at Laureates' Concert. Anyway maybe in 2035 there will be someone to match this performance. And maybe a Pole. Once in 30 years :)

    I celebrated my sixty-eighth birthday this past Friday the first of March. About three weeks prior my beloved grandson Darrin said to me that sixty-seven is a prime number. I was stunned in that until then it had not come to mind despite how I am constantly occupied with prime numbers.So up unto birthday sixty-eight that was a most blessed thought. I shared with a few people that Chopin would be 209 years old. Though he lived a very brief life what he left to this world has become a most rich legacy. This legacy became expressly personal when I was inspired by my musician nephew Timothy to compose lyrics to a hauntingly beautiful Chopin etude, “ebbing and flowing desire!”. This concerto is a central pillar of joy to me and this young pianist has intensified that joy on a zenith. In that,”Music expresses wordless odyssey’s”, I am content in knowing that most everything in this present world is fleetingly transient. Therefore I am happy beyond words that THE LORD JESUS has granted me the capacity to love and appreciate such music which surely is just a fleeting shadow of what all his children will enjoy throughout eternity in His presence in THE NEW JERUSALEM which is the mother of us all! Sincerely, Paul Wilson Green

    쇼팽의 곡 의도와 정석은 바로 '절제'.
    블레하츠는 모든 악장에서 절제의 끝을 보여주고있다.
    쇼피협 1번은 곡 처음부터 끝까지 감성적이고 아름다운 곡이라 연주자 입장에서도 넘쳐흐르는 감정을 억누르기가 힘들다.
    블레하츠가 이때 얼마나 대단했는지는 표정에서부터 드러난다.
    7:55 14:18
    기술적인면은 논할 필요가 없고 몰아치는 부분에서도 감정기복이나 전혀 흔들림없음. 3악장은 접신이라고 봐도 무방

      @@ImvN8Lex agreed, I listened to Cho's version and it is very good. Especially in the 4th movement, however, Rafal's interpretation has that certain something more. It reminds me of the contrast between Zimmerman and Rubenstein playing the 4th Ballade. A friend told me he loves Zimmerman's interpretation of that piece. I listened to it and it is certainly great playing but it leaves me feeling a bit cold. When I listen to Rubinstein play the finale of that piece it just drives me absolutely.
