Items dont despawn if the chunks aren't loaded, so if there are no players or anything loading the chunks then the items will practically stay there forever

I think minecraft views them as entities so if you drop them from the build limit then they would die or despawn, but I don’t know l:/
@@mycupisfullofapplejuice2589 While boats are entities they don't despawn, same as named mobs. Also, things don't despawn with vertical distance, they just won't render until they get close.
