CORRECTION: Yikes, I've been intermittent fasting lately so my brain was likely fried, so it's ironic that a corrected video has a mistake in it. :D I should've used 33% for the charts instead of 25%, since the reduction effect of the production time is indeed 15 seconds (reduction of 25%), but every building produces 33% more. In other words, one building without MA can produce 3 elephants in 3 minutes, but another building with MA can produce 4 in that same time. That's 33% more elephants. Thankfully, the impact of this error is straightforward, as you should reduce the Rules of Thumb by 2 buildings, since the parity is reached at 6 instead for non-siege buildings. Thanks herp Derp for pointing it out in the comments. It's a nice, 15 degrees sunny day here today, so I'll go outside for a walk now. Thanks for stopping by as always, and hope you folks are getting warmer weather to enjoy nowadays too. Cheers. :)
@@aliciag8097 The wording issue in AoE2 is slightly different - but yes, it's the same principle at its core. I also discussed the differences between the two in the beginning of this video, but brain farts happen sometimes lol. :)
an important advantage for faster production time is that your units start to pay off faster since they're out faster. i'd much rather have 10 stables with 50% production time reduction than 20 stables. by the time you pop out 20 knights i already have 10 knights half way across the map
I love your videos, not only because of the professional breakdown of the techs but how beautiful you present the game to be. It really is a beautiful game.
I took a break from AOE4 for a year, going to get back into it with some friends who are new to the game. Cannot wait to go back through all your videos I missed, love your in-depth breakdowns. Thanks for this!
Thank you for the video, I took the original mention of its breakpoint as thin because of how unsure you were but an very glad that you got more it depth with a follow up!
Should the production capacity have been multiples of 133% instead of 125%? Here’s my reasoning, assume a non upgraded production building is 100%, if we produce with elephants, that building makes 1 elephant a minute. Now if we research military school, in the same one minute, that building would make 1 elephant and would be 15s into the production of the next elephant, since they take 45s to produce after the research, that building has effectively made 1.33 elephants in the same time the unupgraded made 1. Thus the upgrade increases each military production building’s production capacity by 33%.
You are 100% right - my brain was fried lol. In 3 minutes, 6 buildings with MA produce 24 Elephants, and in that same 6 minutes, 8 buildings without MA can produce the same 24 elephants. The reduction effect of the production time is indeed 15 seconds (reduction of 25%), but every building produces 33% more. Thanks for pointing it out!
One factor not considered is that you can have full production with less resources floated with technology. 8 stables producing knights is 240*8 resources floated compared to 6*240 for equal production and less total resources. That's 480 resources saved for age ups and other things. This is a rather extreme example though as 8x knight production is very late game. Another factor is at max pop it can change the game to get your units back to the front lines that much quicker, meaning that you will have 2 units more than your enemy using the same example.
Another factor to consider is opportunity cost for your blacksmith, which could be researching something else at that moment. Useless to attempt to quantify that in resources though.
I would like if you would mention civ specific applications. I ussually get MA first for Malians, since it lets you pump more from farimba. And is it addative or multiplicive with the dehli production speed from scholars, the French stable landmark, and the eng maa training speed buff. Does it apply to the free units of the mongols from the imp landmark? Also, does it speed up Delhi fishing boats, as they are technically military units. Does it speed up the conversion of rus boats, and the mongol and Abbasid field siege. I realize writing all this out it’s probably enough for it’s own video lol.
Indeed - a lot of these videos could easily extend to 20-30 minutes due to all of those niche scenarios. There are still lots of "general" videos I have to make first that applies to all civs before making civ-specific ones, as more players will find general rules of thumb useful at first compared to niche examples. Eventually, I should be able to circle back on some of the examples you mentioned above. :)
doesn't Military Academy work with Landmarks too, if they produze units? because nothing in the text states, it only works on barracks, archery range, stables and the siege workshop, it only boosts the production speed of the various types of unit
As Mickaël said, it applies to all production which is why it's labeled as "buildings" mostly on my charts. So you can count your landmarks as "free" buildings for the recommendation.
@@AgeofNoob i thought that too Just wondered, if These buildings or the similiar (I think the rus has that outpost who can produce units too) would change the equation when you can get it over building more production buildings

Same here in Berlin. Enjoy your walk!
Yeah I was thinking, hasn't Spirit of the Law being saying it should be 33% all this time haha

Man these videos not only are useful and extremely beautiful, but also they make me appreciate more the beauty of AoE IV graphics.

Stellar analysis and clear/concise communication as always!
Thanks! :)
This is greatly helpful, I thought it was a huge bonus no matter whenever you researched it! Good video.
Glad it was useful - cheers!
Great video as always, love the channel 🙌

5:20 The breaking point is a whole 2 buildings earlier at 6 buildings instead of 8 if you use 133%

Exactly 🎉 I think I even mentioned this on Reddit 🎉
Stunning visuals as always
No actually they are getting more and more amazing with every video and this especially looks like had a lot of work put into it
I really like your content. Thank u bro 🙏

Love these videos 😁
More to come!
Always the best content 👍🏻

Nice job 👌

i think i just internally aged up from all the science. also great statue 🤩
You can reinforce quicker also
Nice video! And I wanna know, how to get the camera view like this video? Is it mods?
Can you make a video comparison of each civ units zoomed in during all ages? Thanks in advance

because nothing in the text states, it only works on barracks, archery range, stables and the siege workshop, it only boosts the production speed of the various types of unit
This technology is applied to all units involved regardless of which building they come from.

@@AgeofNoob i thought that too

I was getting it too soon
As a Delhi player, I see no point on this video (???)
Couldn't you just say as Rule of Thumb it's worth at around 8 production buildings and siege workshops count as two? Or did I miss something?
FIRST!

What about Otto military schools?
Ottomans are the only civilization without Military Academy.
BRUH all the music in the Age of Empires/Mythology series and you're using the skyrim whiterun theme...... please fix this for future videos
