She and her producers reached for it. It's like a concept album and makes you want to sit down and listen to it all the way through. For me, a track gypsy, that's rare. In my opinion originals, covers and all the transitions worked really well. I've been listening to a Spotify stream and it sounds surprisingly good.

It does actually sound good but I'm definitely going to get the vinyl album at some point to see what that has to offer.

I have the lp by Linda Martell Color Me Country from 1970. Linda was first black female to make Billboard country charts. Her 1970 lp was re issued on orange vinyl on Sun records ( avialable on ebay) in 2022 Glad she's getting recognition.

I haven’t heard any songs from this but I will stream it and decide whether I will add it to my record collection. Very ambitious of Beyonce to embark on a different journey in her musical career. With respect to Joline. That’s a tough hill to climb. I will let my ears decide. To do a Beatles and Dolly cover, that takes guts to perform. As far as album of the year, there is still too many other artist yet to be heard.

    Hi Kenny. Nice review of
Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter album. I am a fan and I’m waiting to get the album in the mail this week to really listen to it, as I’m not subscribed to a streaming service. I will revisit this review after listening to the album in full.

I agree when you take albums and stretch them out full of songs it's a risky move being that you leave room for criticism. Judging this album by today's standards I would probably give it a B minus which is still not a bad grade. However when you take today's albums & you compare them to the albums & artist we were getting in the 60's 70's and 80's which we probably shouldn't do, albums & songs come off more watery. I think this could be nominated for album of the year by today's standards as well.👍

@kennysaudiophilerecordreviews Overall it's good to see a modern artist dipping their feet in another genre of music.

In the same age bracket as you, and neither a Beyoncé nor a country fan, curiosity drove me to stream this album from Qobuz this evening. My assessment is about the same as yours; it had some really great tracks on there, but the whole album was just too long; it was a chore to sit through the whole thing. Also, while she sung _Jolene_ beautifully, changing the lyrics seemed odd to me, and it certainly made the song less poignant.
Incidentally, I know a number of recording engineers who are of the opinion that bit-depth is more important sonically than bitrate, such that the biggest audio improvement comes from going to 24-bit rather than boosting the sampling rate to 96 or 192 kHz. Also, although I don’t know the details of that recording, it’s possible that 24/44.1 was the resolution of the final master, and that the LP will be merely 24/44.1 digital cut to vinyl.

Thank you very much for your great comments about Beyonce and the recording. It we would be ashamed if the original master was 44.1khz/24 bits because I have heard many 192khz/ 24bit files that sound much better than the Beyonce digital album. Also, I have heard several albums that have been recorded digitally and the vinyl albums sounds better than their digital counterparts. Perhaps the analog portion of my stereo setup is better than my digital setup.

I don't understand why 24-bit 44k. What is the point of that? I think just to get it on the HD sites. I agree it should be 96k with the 24-bit.

    WOW KENNY!!!
I was just listening to this on the way to and from work early this morning. I'm not a Beyonce fan. I just downloaded it Myself to listen past all the controversy. The record starts of slow. But then when it starts to kick, IT KICKS!!!
My favorite tracks (so far) are "BODYGUARD" (it has a great 90s Female Alt-Rock vibe), "16 CARRIAGES", "OH LOUISIANA", "SWEET/HONEY/BUCKIIN" and "YA YA".
I really would love to hear this remixed into 5.1/Dolby Atmos, like Peter Gabriel did with "IO". Because some of the tracks are that "atmospheric". That's where Beyonce and her Producers/Engineers missed the mark with this. But most of her fans aren't (necessarily) "Audiophiles" anyway.
"COWBOY CARTER" is close to a Masterpiece. It's definitely Beyonce's Magnum Opus.
And Sorry Bruh. I have to seriously disagree with you on "SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE". There's no way in HELL that Masterpiece could have been less than two records (plus an EP). That's what makes it CLASSIC!!! Stevie took what many Rock artists were doing back in days with "Concept" Albums. And took it to another level.
    Great Video Kenny.

We will have to respectfully disagree on the "Songs In The Key Of Life" album...there are several songs that a amazingly fabulous and some that are only good to moderate in comparison, my opinion has not change since I first listened to the album when it was released in 1976. Thank you very much for watching my video and posting your great comments ✌️

@@kennysaudiophilerecordreviewsI'm not sure that Stevie Wonder's Songs in the key of life lp would be better if it was condensed. Unlike Beyonce's album, all of Stevie's material was original and more esoteric musically. Condensing and compression are traditionally dirty words to music loving audiophiles, both sonically and artistically.

Hi Kenny! Daughter is excellent. I think my favorite track at the moment is "II Most Wanted". I get "Landslide" vibes by Fleetwood Mac. Miley Cyrus' voice even sounds gruff like Stevie Nicks. What do you think? Thanks for your review. I think we will be talking about the Cowboy Carter album throughout 2024. Also, would you make a video reviewing Songs in the Key of Life? You could go track by track. I'm interested to hear which songs your favorites are and which ones you would leave off. The album came out before I was born but I feel it is still so relevant today. Easily top 10 desert island album for me. Edit: If you make a Songs In the Keys of Life video would you recommend the best pressing? Mine is so noisy. Thanks.

I agree with you on the Stevie Nick's comparison 👍 👏. I've done a video on "The Songs In The Key Of Life" ruclips.net/video/F5KJaRu0wHI/видео.htmlsi=sxJ_Thozq0N-YCb6 but I did not go into the songs that I would keep and the songs that I would take off...I should have done that. I have a older pressing of the album and it sounds great but I do not know the best pressing. Thank you very much for your questions and comments along with watching my video 😊 ✌️

The lyrics on her own tracks just don't make sense, very shallow, no layering, no story. Maybe for some its enough if it rhymes and has a nice sound but If she wants her own work to be at the level of the covers there still is a long way to go.
