Wow there are so many simps out there. Rhaenyra is whining spoiled kid. Period.

I love the foreshadowing when Alicent says all of Kingslanding must witness Aegons ascension, the people need to see the ancient strength of house Targaryen , well the people all got a very close view of the true strength of house Targaryen , Dragons !

I think the meaning of "the beast beneath the boards" is a reference to Aegon as he was found beneath the boards in this episode and more of his darker nature is revealed (e.g. having kids fight each other). Also, during his coronation, Helaena looks away as if her prophecy is coming to life in front of her eyes.

The line of “theirs a beast beneath the boards” I don’t believe is referring to the dragon. I believe she’s referring to the network of spies
I think it's multi-layered. Perhaps the Dragon, the Spies and Aegon being found under table
@@p1marketing21 I love this! I can definitely see this being the case. Seeing as she said it on 3 different occasions

Ser Criston Cole a violent brute, but is also capable of charming and devoted. A True Knight!!!
The funny thing about number 5 is that Aemond used a cloak to hide for a scene that is the most un-Daemon thing possible. We already saw a huge difference between Aemond and Daemon when he said last episode that he didn't care about tournaments (while Daemon loved tournaments and glory and the adulation of the crowd).
Daemon also frequented brothels, as we saw in the first few episodes. Aemond, who is still a teenager, obviously doesn't like brothels and his memory of Aegon making him go to a brothel and lose his virginity on his 13th birthday is clearly deeply unpleasant to him. (People aren't talking enough how uncomfortable that scene was, and that madam was creepy. "How you've grown" ugh)
He has been raised to prepare for war and see Rhaenyra's side of the family since he was a small child. And I don't think he's had a moment of fun or happiness nor does he seem to think it's an option.
He does have a lot in common with Daemon, but he's also like a mix of him and Alicent. I think he's the most similar to Alicent of her children as he has that same bottled up rage aused by trauma and simmering for years.
Alicent footing the bill!!
I think there's significance in the fact that Helaena said her prophecy twice, meaning it might happen twice. She might have seen Blood and Cheese skulking through the passageways, she seemed much more upset the second time
What an awesome entrance of Rhaenys and Maelys🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Rhaenys didn't kill the greens because she wants the battle between the greens and the blacks. She asked Alicent if she ever dreamt of being on the Iron Throne. Rhaenys has and still does. If the greens and blacks kill each other off, Rhaenys has the strongest claim to the throne.
I don’t think she wants it, she is tired of losing people
If only rhaenys had simply uttered a word!

Many also noticed that there was an absence of the large square cut Rubies in Aegon's Crown that are depicted in nearly every image of him wearing that crown. There were empty sockets where rubies may have been at one time, but no mention of where they might have gone.
It's weird cause you see the big red ruby on the front of the crown but it's gone when Cole places the crown on Aegon. Plus I love that Erryk smuggled out Viserys crown to give it to Rhaenyra. He chose being faithful to the true heir instead of siding with his twin brother. 💪
Varys and Missaria are both founds of children.
Varys said children are innocent
Didn’t the children he used as spies have their tongues removed? Not sure if that’s just a book thing but the kids never talked in the show
@@nicolemesser6960 correct they did. But... I guess it's the lesser of two evils in a way. He cared for those who worked for him and seemed to treat them well from what I understand, under him they suffered far less than where they came from. And removing their tongues was also a way of protecting both parts as by that point, the secrets they stole were committed to memory more than actual things and papers.
Looking at the fleabottom fights with the children in the series - I would def. say his method was the better one. Dangerous...but still a better life.
Neither him or Mysaria are..."good" people...but they aren't evil either.
Yea, the show writers dont understand the material in this aspect. Missaria cares about children? So does she not engineer the beheading of a toddler then ("You hear that little boy? Your mommy wants you dead")? Not buying the "character development". I also cannot stand the Missaria character, the actress is using a nonsense accent and changes the speech at random.
Never point your sword at anyone that you are unwilling to kill. When Ser Westerling had Criston's throat, he broke the rule, giving Criston time to draw his own sword. I know that the story doesn't allow for Criston to die yet, but they could have written the scene so that Westerling was farther away, giving Criston time, because you know a knight would know better.
Surprise that the whole "Larry loves Alicent Feet" isn't on the list

And Rhaenys doing the same thing as Ned: showing mercy.
Great music awesome sounds
I found it interesting, how Aemond and Daemon are only the movement of one letter away, from having the same name. (10/18/2022)
Hi Rebecca/WatchMojo.. A small possible easter-egg I noticed. There was a scene between Alicent and her father (The Hand.) Moments after she leaves, he says (quietly) ..."as you wish." Was that a subtle reference to "The Pricess Bride"? When Wesely says "as you wish" it's his way of saying I Love You? Maybe the actor (Rhys Ifans) inserted it as an improv line and it was kept in?
We are on the precipice of civil war! Been loving this show!

@@drinkofthrones5239 absolutely painful I know

I dont think Rhaenys was the Beast Beneath The Boards, as that did almost nothing to them. I think it is foreshadowing Blood and Cheese in the 10th Episode. 10th episode will probably pack Aemond's murder of Lucerys/Jace and also Blood and Cheese to finally kick off the Civil War.
In my opinion she killed smallfolk/ peasants cause they started following usurper instead of named heir to the throne just because his gender. In ep 4 actor in play at silk street called princess feeble to rule. And as we know from rhaneys’s background she is not fond of that.
This is one of the best episodes of the show so far and is like prime GOT with it's writing and execution. Can't wait for the finale and hope to get a lot of Daemon because Smith is so good as him.
You’re joking right? Things moved at a snails pace during the episode and they burned up time trying to find Aegon - drawing out the time of him being missing served no purpose. The deal made with Mysaria was weak, and her quote, while this analysis said it was similar to Varys; that is completely off. Mysaria is saying something more like “we can overthrow you rulers anytime.” Umm, no they can’t really. In the time of Rome, sure. The people had such power to gather en masse and kill rulers; by mid ages and beyond, castles and armor were fortified enough that the masses might not have succeed in tearing town a castle to murder a ruler.
No interesting character was developed during the search and recovery. Queen Cersei found all of Robert Baratheon’s bastards and killed them in King’s Landing in just a few moments in an episode and the immediately moved to the consequences and impact of it.
Bad (declining) show writing is easily identified by how slowly an obvious point event or point moves. Then the director/writer directors pretend there’s some great artistic choice and reasoning behind it so you appreciate what they did do, glazing over the fact that…it just didn’t matter. Walking Dead was like this two. What season 1 did in a single episode, they’d draw out over 2-4 episodes later.
Even more obvious, cutting down/out central cast members for an entire episode. The whole time this bullshit was going on, nothing about Daemon and Rhaenyra considering what they might need to do to secure succession when the extremely sickly king they just saw dies?
No response to Vaemond Valeryon getting killed by Daemon and Driftmark politics figuring out how to respond? Oberyn died fair and square in a duel and that had a response from House Martell. Why does nobody dying in this plot matter to anyone?
What? That episode sucked.
@@Rouser48 Disagree but Ep 7 is the best one.

Beast beneath the boards can pertain to a lot of things, it can be Aegon hiding, the white worm and her spies in the red keep, larys strong or Blood & cheese... though the latter will appear way later in the followimg season,
This episode was the best till now. Underrated hero was the background music best of season.
You missed the reference to season 1 of GOT, episode 7 where Renly asks Ned to seize Joffrey, because "He who holds the king, holds the kingdom." A clear parallel to Otto's and Alicent's hunt for Aegon in this episode.
the thing is, rhaenys didn’t had reasons to kill all of the greens, she didn’t had direct beef with them and had no idea what would happen later. So she was just warning them that what they were doing is wrong and could lead to a war.

While watching this last night my boyfriend made me realize something. So Aegon the conqueror in the past had a dream of ice and fire and the Prince that is promised. The Prince that is promised according to king viserys that Prince is supposed to be baby Aegon, Rhaenyra’s child. The Queen thinks that’s her son Aegon that the king was talking about. Beast beneath the boards being the dragon coming through the floor was a red herring, still keep that phrase in mind as it refers to something we will see eventually that directly effects Helaena, probably beginning of season 2.
i hope they have her mention it again as people will realise it signals the far worse thing to come
Thank you!! I don't know what it is but referring to Meleys is too obvious. All the dragons are kept there. It's not a prophecy, it's just a fact. There has to be so much more to that statement.
Good video
5:14 Very awkward how he unsheathed his sword
I still think the beast beneath the boards is still Aegon II….he was taken out of his hiding place which was covered by a board.
I like the thinking on this. Its a better take as i found the dragon scene useless.
@@kobarsos82 and Helaena seemed distraught during is coronation.
I think Melys being the beast is a red herring, or a red dragon, if you will.
Rhaenys hasn't read Fire & Blood to know the horrors to come. So her pre-emptively killing her own family would've been ridiculous. Having said that, the Rhaenys thing was to give audience a 'send home happy' moment which wasn't necessary. The coronation was fantastic in itself. But gawd forbid the 'bad guys' are on top in 1 episode. The worst stan is the one who thinks lowborn of KL had any obligation to support Rhaenyra. You're in for big disappointments. Aegon is following the law of popular King Jaehaerys' Great Council stating king's firstborn male son to be the next king. Viserys himself won his crown over a female, woulda been insincere for him to take away his own son's birthright. As for despairing mom alicent, it does highlight her humanity more than cold hearted alicent in actual green council. A well needed change imo, they've constantly shown subtleties in her character which the audience wilfully ignores since they're watching this as a Black vs Green team sport and you gotta cheer for team lovable manipulative daddy! Show alicent as a whole has been better imo. Her being more humanized shouldn't be a problem unless one wants the show to remain as grotesquely black n white as it has been for Team Black (like Laenor escaping instead of being off'd). The finale is the Rhaenyra "also ran consolation prize" lol.
True but even in the books Rhaenys goes out like a boss and wounds Aegon to the point where he can no longer rule nor be recognized without milk of the poppy even though she dies if they keep it that way it will be fantastic to see
