When I watched Source Code I kept wanting to live in the movie cuz it was just so gosh darned good!! The storyline was perfection & the ending sublime!! The less you know about it the better. Just watch it!!

Great flick- great to look at, sense of humor, total Hollywood but awesome. Tom Cruise may well be crazy as hell, but I have a hunch it's a necessary survival requirement ( for the fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of humans on this planet who are Huge Hollywood Stars ) to be unapologetically batshit crazy. Anyway, he's a real pro & he's great in this. That big smile at the end !

For me the most mind-blowing time travel movie is a movie called Time Trap. By the end of the movie my jaw was already on the floor, and it is one of my favorite time travel movies today. Anybody that is interested in watching it, it is on Netflix.
I just finished watching Time Trap and I'm here looking for similar movies. I've seen almost every time travel movie. I love the genre.

Predestination is top for me, amazing story, amazing acting. Another time travel film I always think of that not many know about is "Retroactive" with James Belushi, it left a mark on my mind.

Holy Cow!! Primer is a must watch. Took me three watches to actually grasp its complexity. Predestination is one of those movies you can't help but smirk at the brilliance of the story-line(s). True mind-benders!!
There's another sort of time-travel element movie but not necessarily anybody travel through time, was Frequency starting Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel..that one was pretty dope movie and loved the ending of it. :)

Loved "Frequency" what makes a movie with a crazy storyline work is adding elements that a person can relate to if they were in that situation, if even its impossible or even with some unsettling moments it still balances it with humanity, and that movie succeeded.

I didn't think of it as a time travel movie but a 'time loop on an after-life ghost ship' movie. Could've done without the 'americanisation' of the Australian setting and Australian actors. Some of those US accents were off.

I like Primer the most. The film is supposed to be impossible to figure out, and it is. But you sure enjoy trying. To me, the best time travel movie ever made. But Predestination is exceptionally well thought out and presented.

A real "blow your mind" time travel film is the spanish film named "Durante a tormenta" in NETFLIX... There are no questions, no holes and no points left behind in this film... everything makes sense and the events in the past and in the future are perfectly linked to each other... Wow !!!

FYI, for English speakers, the movie is called "Mirage". Also check out this same director's masterpiece, "The Invisible Guest", although this isn't a time travel movie.

Time crimes is a very well put together movie. I just dont like the ending and the dark side to it. I had hoped for something better, but, yes, that is better than Primer in this listing.
I've seen all but the first film - Time Lapse, which I'm going to watch now. Time travel is one of my favourite subjects in Sci-Fi (I think it's Sci-Fi). I loved the rest of the films on the list & would strongly recommend them along with Triangle, Looper, Timecrimes, Project Almanac, Interstellar, The Jacket, The Butterfly Effect, Donnie Darko & Coherence (although the last is about parallel universes, rather than time travel).
I've got about 35 minutes left of Time Lapse. Wow. It's a fucking nail-biter, high tension, thriller. Technically not a time travel film, they just seen into the future, but wow. I wasn't prepared... I was expecting a head-fuck, mind-trip, time travel film & a psychological thriller. Instead I'm on the edge of my seat. It's so dark.. #Gulp

It's the second or third time I am watching Quartier Lointain. Gotta say it is one of the best movies I have ever seen in my life because it talks about family and mid-life crisis.
I think Primer stands out from all of these in my mind because it feels.. real. Both the mechanics, the tricks, the reactions, and the fact that there is just a rising tension in that something just feels.. *wrong*. And that what happens that fucks things up is not some crazy sci-fi thing but just.. basic human psychology and interaction.

On paper, the whole ""Groundhog Day" plot related to time travel repeating over and over seemed tedious. But two movies here- Edge of Tomorrow and the amazing Source Code- use it brilliantly.
And palm spring bring back the charm too
Let's not forget Before I Fall. I mean, it wasn't the best ending, but the journey was brilliant.

*"12 Monkeys", the TV series.* (Starts without much promise, but then gets really good. Underrated!)

@@MovieZ4U. nah you can only watch one and enjoy the plot twist. There's no way you can watch one and not tell the plot twist in the other. They have a very similar plot. I was disappointed with The Invisible Guest, but I was blown away by The Body's plot twist.

Source Code was not actually a "Time Travel" movie. It was, I think (believe), about visiting alternate time lines. Jake G's character ( Capt. Steves) jumped into another person's last 8 minutes of a teacher's (one of the train passangers) life to discover the bomber's identity.

Wow! Outstanding list... I doubt I could have made a better one. Primer is definitely the best Time-Travel movie ever made, but one movie that deserves to be on this list is Light Years. Check it out if you haven't. Also, despite some of its "rule-breaking," Looper is on the A-list of time travel movies.

Primer is one of my favorite time travel movies, not flashy but it does its job.
Not in my top five but very impressive for the budget. Probably done more "realistic" than most. It real demands your full attention from start to finish or it is a wasted experience.
I thought it made the technology seem very realistic, but why would the co-worker instantly become such an evil person?
Always loved time travel stuff, and the best 1 & 2 I've seen is Predestination & Edge of Tomorrow. They're the best thought out; no real flaws in continuity.
If you truly do, one must watch "Somewhere in time" (before Superman saved the world).
The best time travel movie for me was Time crime, its not in english though but simply brilliant.
Frequency is also one of the best
Other than Terminator Frequency is the all time best but in this list Edge of Tomorrow is the number 1 and watch Dr. Who you have 50 years of time travel it is a great tv show scary, funny and dramatic.

Edge of Tomorrow is one of the best Cruise films. I found his performance and characterisation very compelling and realistic. never even heard of Time Lapse, but it looks brilliant. Haven't seen 12 Monkeys for a long time, but will need to revisit as it was a cracking movie. I really liked SourceCode, but it needed to get to the point, but amazing Quantum Leap references that I adored. Predestination looks kick ass! I'm sure I have seen Primer but I must have travelled back in time to a point before that happened cos I can't remember the scenes from this trailer.
I found time lapse uploaded for free on RUclips. It has Vietnamese subtitles, but other than that a good upload! I absolutely love time lapse! Great indie film.
The 12 monkeys TV show is a bit different but totally bonkers in the best way IMO

You know I watched primer a lot over the past years, then I got ahold of it again, and I swear the ending was different. The newer version the ending was clear and made sense. The original was convoluted and the explanation was not spelled out. Did they shoot two endings or release two different version of the excellent film Primer ?
