    I know I'm late in watching this video, but make a shelf or bracket to hold the AC unit at the height of the window in the door. Remove the window and build a plywood or metal plate around the AC unit with weatherstripping that would seal around the window opening. That way you could access the storage area under the bed and the AC unit would be up high which would cool the bus/ RV better since cool air sinks to the floor.

    Get some black wire loom to put over the yellow extension cord. Seeing that yellow all the time would bug the heck out of me.

    Just close the door frame with plywood or aluminium, so that the door opens and reveals only the outlet of the AC, keeps heat out and privacy in. Access to the underbed storage from inside or make the ply on hinges like a second door. You could also grab over and reach your stuff in there then...
    At least on the bathroom window think of some blinds or curtains or additional window tint, the mirror stuff is quite transparent...
    :-D
    Thx for the update!

      I like all your ideas. Definitely going to cover the windows. Just haven't figured out the best method yet.

      @@JYDOG For being most waterproof I would choose tint film, for easiest installation a vinyl shower curtain with some pattern on it...anything that makes the Mrs. comfortable... ;-)

    I Have the same bus that’s White but so much rust on mine. Looking forward to seeing what you do about the AC unit in the back. I was thinking of ripping out the window and trying to put a casement style AC in. Still would look a bit tacky and they’re expensive.

    Looks like you doing a great job on your build. But the only problem with not running a breaker box is when your plugged in at a campground and you have a power strip hooked up you"ll have 30amps going to that power strip, very very unsafe (accidents happen)when a 2 slot breaker box is only like 12 to 15 bucks plus breakers... And on to you air.. a mini split would be sweet but it comes with a price, i used to build camper vans and we would mount window air's in the front of the sofa's i can talk you through the process if you like, i did see a utube video on it but they did a real crappy job , but anyway i do like your videos keep up the good work Take Care and Be Safe

      The 3 prong breakout has a breaker built in at 20 amps per slot. I think I failed to put that in the video. I can see your point though. Where can I find a tiny mini split that is in the States? I'm intrested.

    I think your van would be a lot cooler temperature wise if you painted it white. Would require less btu's to cool it off.

      I agree. I think ultimately I see it painted silver. I do like white though.

    There's this YinLong Lithium Titanate (LTO). It sounds cheap. Why not try it?

    Why would an electrical cord made for generators be for indoors only. The generator has to be outside while running. Seems like just a tag for liability reasons. Here in Florida that's what 1000's of people use during hurricanes.

      I think if you protect / cover the exposed end you would be alright.

    What's the towing capacity on that van ?

    • @JYDOG
      @JYDOG  3 года назад +1

      I don't think it can tow more than 7500lbs given it is a E350 with 4.10 gears and 5.4 engine.... of course that can all be changed

    Why not use a portable AC

    I was using a hole saw that ripped loose from my grip and the drill spun around and hit me in the face lol

      I know the feeling. I was hole sawing an exhaust pipe for my jeep and it caught and cut a tendon. Put me out of commission for a couple of weeks. I usually ware gloves now. Still worth the risk though.

    Roof top air or really small mini-split? Saves making another door. Great travel van concept btw!

    • @JYDOG
      @JYDOG  3 года назад

      It seems they only sell the super tiny mini splits in Canada. Have you seen one in the States?

    • @divadyrdnal
      @divadyrdnal 3 года назад

      I was thinking a ~10k btu mini from Amazon, the RV roof tops are 10 to 15k btu I believe. Probably a bit cheaper than a roof top RV unit. Black van in the full sun with just “OK” roof top insulation can suck up a lot of heat mid summer, but that was just my reasoning.

    Rooftop AC are nowhere as efficient, stick to the window unit
