  • Bio-IoT refers to the Internet of Things applied to biological systems, such as agricultural applications, environmental solutions, pharmaceutical delivery systems, implanted medical devices, intelligent prosthetics, surgical assistants, and remote patient monitoring. In this presentation, Dr. Phil Williams, Technical Director for the UALR MidSouth Bioinformatics Center talks about the basics of IoT Systems and how biology students can get involved in this growing technology which offers tremendous career opportunities for the future. Dr. Williams received his PhD from the Joint UALR/UAMS Graduate Program in Bioinformatics. His research interests include Bioinformatics, High performance computing (HPC), HPC in Google Cloud, Linux/bash scripting for Bioinformatics, Biology-interaction between non-coding RNAs, and machine learning on biological data sets
