I am saddened knowing the potential of Talisker being wasted by the hands of Diageo. I've just stopped buying Diageo products. I think Talisker has a gentle smoke balanced with that sea air taste. I agree that port cask finishes can be great, especially with peat. "It ain't bad, but..." pretty much summarizes what Petere called a "meh whisky." The Wilder Seas is too expensive in the USA from what I've found online so far-- $200-$300. Keep reviewing other options for us, Jim. Thanks, mate.
Cheers Bud. Phew, that's very expensive for the Wilder Seas. Yeah I'd leave that on the shelf. I don't think you're alone in halting your buying of Diageo mate. Unfortunately...even if the whisky community as we know it stopped buying Diageo...given what they own, and how many folk outside the whisky community buy it....Diageo wouldn't even notice.
Hi Jim. Had my first and last ( say’s it all really)bottle of this around five years ago. It’s around €45 (around £38) in Germany. It’s rare that I purchase a Diageo product but when the Talisker 10 is on offer I pick one up. Late last year got one for €26. Thanks for your always honest reviews. Slàinte Jim 🥃
Have an emotional sweet spot for Talisker. The 10 is the bottle it all started with for me. Still have the 10 and the Distillers Edition at home. But also think, especially if you consider their prices of today, they are often punching below their weight. Just look at the price of the 18 😮
Looks like most of us would stick with the 10 year old Jim.....I certainly wouldn't be digging deep in my pockets for this one. That said, I do very much enjoy the T10 - it's a unique tasting whisky despite Diageo's treatment of it; could be so much better without the chill-filtration and added colour!
I’m with the others here (Bud and Peter), this was one of the most underwhelming, dull whiskies I’ve had in recent years. There was no integration whatsoever between the brine and pepper from talisker and the sweet, fruit notes from the port casks. Very generic imo. Now, I am definitely not on the talisker train to begin with as I find almost all of their core range very ‘meh’ but this one really was a let down. Onwards and upwards then?!
I bought this one at the distillery in 2019 and ended up paying close to an extra £10 more for the privilege ! A fool and their money ……. Not a bad drop off whisky though.
Thanks for rev.w.w.iew.w.wing this one in the c.c.c.cold Jim. Haven't had this (most likely) e150a distilled plastic bucket. No further comments. Slàinte mhath

Talisker was my first eureka whisky many years ago and I still enjoy it, have never had a bottle of Port Ruighe (The Kings Port as in harbour).
Cheers Paddy
Completely agree with you Jim. I don't find talisker smokey or overly medicinal. I find Talisker so hit and miss these days I tend to avoid it now.

Slàinte David. The Talisker 10 is still a decent dram imo.
Thanks for the review. I got port ruighe, but haven't opened it yet. Wilder seas cost 30€ more than port ruighe. Love old label
Cheers.

Funny I was expecting some more difference of opinion on this one mate but....turns out we all feel the same 😂😂
Cheers mate.

I felt stung by Port Ruighe. I was expecting something better from Talisker. It's a meh whisky, in my opinion.
Glad I'm not alone in my opinion then Peter. Cheers buddy.
