I was cracking up! Great idea Mav. I didn't know you weren't supposed to cook salmon over 200 degrees, but oh well I like it that way. Thanks again for another great video!
"As I said in one of my recent videos, "Mama didn't raise no bass fisherman." Got to love a line that keeps on giving. You should still being using that line when you get to my age, some 40 years from now.
outstanding!!! early years as a tree trimmer, we learned to perfection, beef stew, soups, and those little hot dogs in a can on the chipper manifold, had times for each scribed in the cover plate
I grew up in Arkansas, we deer hunted in Stuttgart Arkansas, my dad had a 67 Ford Bronco. It was about a 3 hour drive, he would wrap a chuck roast in like 6 layers of foil, wedge it between the intake and the the head and it would be perfect when we got to the deer spot. 3 o’clock in the morning, had a white bread, cheese, and Mayo roast sandwich for breakfast! Best childhood memories!!
We cook on our truck engines all the time where I work. We don’t have access to micro waves or stoves so we have learned to use the engines. Works great. Killer video bud.
from south africa, been doing this for many years, currently have a baking pann bolted to the turbo guard on my landrover discovery 2 td5 which i have re configured into a one person road trip stealth camper. does a chicken flattie and vegies brilliantly, in a foil wrapped roasting bag. rice i do in a thermos... 1 thermos cup of rice fill with boiling water...chicken veggies and rice for a roadside meal.... yummie
An old trick but a good one. A lot of vehicles these days have a deflector on top of the exhaust manifold right off the engine so that’s probably why the top part was cooler.
Wow this brought back some memories when my dad took leftovers from dinner and bring it to work for lunch my dad worked at Ruco plant in Hicksville Ny and he actually put his lunch on a steam pipe to heat up his lunch and this was back in the late 70s and early 80s anyway thank you Mav for a great video......
I can remember back in the sixties when we went to Florida for a vacation we gathered clams and put them in the foil and put them on the engine by the time we got about halfway home which was a good three hours we checked them and they had already started opening but not all of them so we gave them another 30 minutes for them and we set an 8 fresh clams cooked only engine so it can be done and it is a great way I'm not using any extra energy to cook meal God bless stay safe and stay healthy on
Hey Mav, writing this from the Great White North 🇨🇦, but I’ve found your channel and you’re such a genuine dude. Fricking awesome channel, good content, good narrative. Keep it up man, I can tell you’re a nice dude, you remind me of my best friend bud
My ddad did that a couple times in the early 70s when we were on long road trips. There used to be guides on how many miles to drive depending on what you were cooking.
Devil Lungsman I’m 100% certain that the fish he set directly on top of the engine, is the intake manifold. Secondly, he talked about the exhaust manifold, and ended up wrapping it to the exhaust, past the o2 sensor. Which also, isn’t the exhaust manifold. So, you were saying ?
It's cool to finally see this actually done! The one on top of the motor maybe got to 200° degrees as your thermostat only let's your engine get to about 190°. The fillet under the truck probably got close to almost 400 degrees which I would think is perfect but you also got the wind while driving. You should try it with another meat like beef. Go for a long trip so it would be slow cooked for a couple hours. 😆 I'd love to have a Boston Whaler or pretty much any center console boat! (Not a pontoon) lol
So double wrap the fish in tin foil. So Mav when you have a time crunch you can drive to your sleeping place and eat your meal right when you get to your spot
On our first deployment 2003 in Iraq we would cook our mre or beefaroni in a can on a good day on our truck engine while riding down road a short distance (by way I was truck driver so much larger engine ) but yea pretty cool seeing someone do this.. we also cook our water in a wet sock hanging out our window attached to our mirror or we put bottles in our ac vents
Hey man, I am new to the channel. I turned 40 this year but I remember watching Dan Fitzgerald cook a deer tenderloin the same way about 25 yrs ago on a hunting video. Great vid man, looked great! Joe in MS
Always stoked to see the videos & live streams, keep it up. Hoping to get a van this summer & build it out, and possibly starting a RUclips channel. Thanks for the inspo!!!
Just a heads up you can cook canned food on the engine also. Wire it in place and poke a small vent hole or it will explode trust me. I had a can of pork and beans explode and shoot forward into the engine fan and the fan sprayed them everywhere. Every time I drove it after that it smelled like pork n beans.
Found your channel from your viral "most scared while truck camping" video and let me say I love everything about this channel and your personality and thought i'd let you know and spread some positivity and hopefully you see this. Side note, also kinda binge watched like almost all your videos in 3days lmfao keep on truckin :D
Another great video. Thank you for listing your mail address. We sent your package on Saturday. It is pretty good sized so it should be waiting for you at the post office.
I have a feeling this is gonna be one of those vids that gets hella views randomly and in like 3 years the, “Who else is watching in 2023?” comments will start rolling in.
Hey guys, I just started watching Mav. I know he does videos of over night in his truck but is there anything else to know about him. He seems like a pretty cool guy, like I said I am new but I have watched 3 hours of his videos today. 😃
So every spring when I hit the lower parts of lake michigan I always make breakfast sandwiches and rap them in tin foil and to get then hot, before I leave the dock I put them on the intake manifold. So when we are hungry we have a nice BF sammie

Come to the brule river in Wisconsin. First week in October. Steelhead run. Camp and cook with a chef. Tight lines from Iowa.

Cool video. Great idea. Perfectly cooked that's awesome.
Mannnnn I’m still shocked that the fish on the intake manifold cooked that well. I definitely didn’t think it would happen.
Richard V exhaust manifold

Devil Lungsman he’s right it’s the intake manifold the one on the bottom is on the exhaust.
Colin Mackay yea I was wrong dude

I use to be an LA certified welder. We would put burritos on the crane exhaust manifold or use our welders to warm/cook food. Good times.
