- Talk’s Ian Collins is joined by former submarine captain Ryan Ramsey a year after OceanGate’s Titanic submarine imploded.
While an official investigation is ongoing, the families of the deceased passengers are still seeking answers about the events leading to the tragedy that occurred on June 18th 2023.
The world's attention was captured by a tragic incident in the North Atlantic, where a submersible carrying five passengers lost contact in the deep ocean.
The voyage to explore the RMS Titanic shipwreck turned into an international crisis instead of a memorable experience for those aboard the Titan craft.
After four days, debris from the submersible was discovered 2.4 miles below the surface, near the Titanic's bow.
The Titan had collapsed under the immense pressure of the ocean depths, resulting in the immediate loss of all lives on board.

Maybe its easy to say in hindsight, but looking at its construction id say it was an obvious deathtrap from the outset.....no need to be a materials scientist to see that.
It looks really simple...just as the CEO wanted to make it a childs play going down there
Ocengate CEO Stocktham ignored safety warnings about the Titan sub his company built. A friend had warn that the submersible was getting weaker with every dive. He had used expired carbon fiber and he didn't get the Titan certified. James Cameron used a much safer designed submersible when he dove to the Titanic and said you should have to worry about the safety of the submersible when you go down there
why anyone wants to go so far under water to see rusty metal is baffling. it was an opportunity to do something not many others can do, they had more money than sense, why are they still looking for answers?
Stockton Rush was obviously in a rush to die because the number of corners he cut to produce that thing was going to be fatal at some point at that sort of depth whatever. He must have known that and what is more to the point the authorities should've known and stopped him from taking passengers down with him.
That;s why he operated in international waters. Beyond the reach of US and British law.
He even cavalierly admitted on tape that he had cut corners to save time and money.
@@jannea4318 SMH. Just tragic that he took four other lives along with his own.
they would of known they was in danger of implosion. and started to try going back up, and there alarm system was going crazy. so they knew they was in peril, just before it imploded. which is terrifying. feel for the kid.
The only consolation I guess is that it would have been quick , but it's a real shame the arrogant owner who perished as well did not run his company better and that it happened at all .
Greed knows no boundaries. R.I.P. To all who lost their lives on board Titan💯💙🙏🏿
Rich people went down thinking because they were rich, they would come up. They did not come up. Get over ittttt
Why do I get the impression that there's something sinister about this
But there isn't.🤷♀️
It is sinister simply because Stockton Rush completely ignored the multiple warning signs. Also, carbon fiber cannot withstand multiple trips to different pressure levels, the quality decreases every exposure. He was aware it was bond to happen. He just wanted to exploit his submersible as many times as he could.
The son didn't want to go.
he should've said NO then !
@@BlueSteel331 he did, but was guilt tripped because it was fathers day
One less person who would be attending the wef
@@chrisspencer6502 Don’t be a prick!
There's actually a news clip of his mum saying that she was initially going to go with her husband, but that her son took her place instead, And it also seemed to sorta contradict what people are saying about the 19 year-old lad not really wanting to go.
The search for the sub was a sham. They knew it imploded
Nobody was obliged to search for those clowns. It was in international waters!
i agree the titanic needs to be left alone
Like the USS Thresher this would have been mercifully quick, whats sad though is that in both cases they probably knew what was going to happen before it did. God rest them all in peace.
The curse of the Titanic words "Not even God can sink her" still lingers on!
God: now, where did I put that iceberg?... :D
A mix of incompetence and reckless stupidity. Nobody who died needed to be there. A foolish and pointless endeavour just to see a rotting ship. Of all the wonderful things to see on this planet, some rusty wet metal should be very low on the list.
Absolutely, we'll said. (the appeal is it being a time capsule)
I JUST HAVE A ? WHERE IS THE CAMERA FOOTAGE OF THEM SEARCHING THE OCEAN FLOOR FOR TITAN ? YOU SEE THEM UNLOADING THE PIECES BUT NO FOOTAGE OF THEM SEARCHING FINDING IT AND LIFTING IT OUTTA THE WATER THEY VIDEO EVERYTHING ELSE WHY NOT THAT ? JUST CURIOUS
I know James, Cameron is planning on building another submersible and going back down to Titanic and laying a plaque for his mate. As he said on the sixty minute in australia the other day in an interview with a lot more information on the inquiry and inside information that he knows, go watch it on 60 minutes
Why didn’t they leaving the titanic graves alone?
The grave should be left alone...these gravetourists died while traveling to a grave....hypocracy ?
Don't waste you time watching this
Why are they still taking about it. We know what happened. It was a nice sub but not designed properly to go that deep. And the owner Stockton had a death wish or was a fool .He heard the thing coming apart every time he took it down but went anyway for some reason.
perhaps a giant octopus squeezed it too tight
I don't get it, they're going to raise it? I thought it imploded and was now a million pieces... how are they going to bring them up to Bury them?
There is no "grave".
There's no bodies, no blood, no bones.
They are one with the sea now.
Surely there bodies would be in pieces and able to find parts
What are you talking about
@@FocusRS500 sorry, no. Their bodies were completely vaporized in the implosion.
There is absolutely nothing left.
@@FocusRS500 No. Just red paste.
I agree it is time to leave Titanic alone. Just like we learned lessons from the Titanic sinking, we learned lessons from the Titan tragedy
Poorly built
Should have 3inch glass windows
Sad
Probably an unpopular opinion but I don’t really agree with the whole “leave it alone, let it rest, it’s a gravesite” ect - so then by that logic it can’t be left alone. Think about it, a grave is somewhere that people often visit and pay tribute to, in fact, it’s not uncommon for it to be said that the gravesite gets more care and attention than the actual person in the grave when they were alive. I think it’s more a case of ‘leave it alone or you’ll be killed’ the idea of leaving it alone out of ‘respect’ for a gravesite is ridiculous to me. Admit that we can’t go down there because nature does not allow us there, not because we are moral creatures haha. If it were ever to be brought up most people would que up to see it and… *pay their respects* 🙃
you are wrong. When you go to someone’s grave side you are above ground looking at their head stone you don’t dig down to the coffin to have a peep at the rot. The titanic ship is rotted and their remains lay there at some point before they perished. Going down there is like going inside someone’s coffin. Let them rest.
@@maurafogarty9035 I see what you mean. I was thinking more along the lines of going down there and just visiting, not necessarily prodding about or taking things away from it. I believe at some point someone laid down some plaques or something, similar to what you’d do for a grave, ie laying flowers ect. That’s the way I was looking at it anyway
I would say if you are directly related to someone who died on Titanic, then I could see how this is about visiting the grave of your ancestor and paying respects to it. But if you are just a tourist with a camera, looking to post stuff on Instagram, leave it alone. It's not just a ship wreck, it's a place where some 1,500 people died an awful death. So, yes, it's very immoral to go down there.
😢
Leave the Titanic alone it’s a mass grave site.
The titanic is a bareul site. It should never be used for profit. To do payed tors down to her is so disrespectful..
There should be an international ban on any more subs going down to that Titanic wreck, and the morbid fascination with that disaster must be discouraged.
That will never happen.
Lol and who's gonna enforce it? What happens when another country goes? Someones gonna stop em? No.
i think the problem is to go down there in a coca cola can
If you have more money than sense have at it. Titanic here they come (and they might not be leaving).
Just because some rich lunatic visited the Titanic site and died, it means nobody else can attempt it anymore? Just do it with the necessary precautions. What kind of preposterous remark was that?
I'm sorry but we know what we need to know about everest yet the general public can go up there leave al there equipment and sometimes die and left there yet its allowed.if people want to go its up to them at there risk.millonares with nothing more to do give that money to the poor instead of jollies to titanic and everest
bro the presenter high or sumn?
Why is it anyone else's concern if people want to go down to view the Titanic. Its not private property! If they have the money to do it, who is anyone to say they can not? If folks didn't know before, they certainly know the risks now so it's really up to them not anyone else!!
I don’t think people are upset if fully informed adults make the decision to go into the depths. The upset comes if said folks are purposefully kept uninformed, or worse- lied to, in order to take their $. Ocean Gate’s CEO lied and it cost lives. Big difference imo
I agree with you . What is it your or my business of them heading down. I could honestly care less as to any result of living or implosion.
I do care about any tax dollar being spent through military, aviation, or boats or anything on a tax dollar being spent. This unrated or non compliant sub , was not certified. It broke rules over greed and money.
This company should pay all Pennie’s for everything involved with the recovery from this. This wasn’t my problem to fund this stupidity and my dollar paying to look for it.
Because he had paying passengers. That makes it commercial, therefore, it should be proven safe. Boeing? It just wasn't his own little private trip.
It imploded...done move on
You wouldn't leave a car crash at the side of the road .
yep..fantastic update..learned nothing new..you'd have thought someone would have watched the 60 minutes show before doing this eleven minute piece ..f'kin pointless..!! 😂
MAYBE IT WASN'T THE TITANIC? 😮😮
Disproved that conspiracy.
It was the Titanic, that`s what it said on the nameplate, but it was a substitute, depends on which way you look at it.
Min 5- thank you both for saying what everyone is thinking. Why do this at all ?? Only pride and ego (the #1 of the 7 deadly sins) The same reason people line up to pay 6 figures to go up Everest. Income inequality has reached grotesque proportions.
Ironic.😂
Obviously the spirts in the Titanic ship are saying leave us alone let us rest in peace
Bring it back up if its that necessary to mankind
Sorry the rich CHOSE to go down to "see the Titanic" in an extremely deep part of the ocean! THE JOURNEY WAS NOT NEEDED. It was for "oh look WE'VE seen the Titanic!" Pathetic. Tough - BAD DECISION@🤦♀️😠👎
